This was another good #audiobook I picked up by chance on Libby. It was a decent mystery that surprised me with it's big reveal. I, however, thought some the story wrap up seemed a bit contrived. All in all, I enjoyed this Ally Condie novel.

Not sure that this book merits the Reese‘s Book Club status. I mean, you only pick 12 books a year and it should be a stand-out. A jawdropper. Different than what you‘ve read before. This is a Scooby Doo episode. Well, without the dog and the villain dressed as a ghost. It wasn‘t bad, but isn‘t one that is a stand out.
Murder on her resort vacation leaves Ellery and her new found friends (or are they) becoming detectives before it‘s too late. An “ok and average”, but with little reading time lately I may have gone on to something else if it weren‘t our book club read. I still feel like Reese may be steering us off the path 🤣
I agree with a lot of the reviews on this one. What started out strong and interesting turned into a drawn out story that lost my interest quickly. The ending just wasn‘t what I hoped it would be and there was too much other stuff going on and really was unnecessary. It wasn‘t a long book, but felt a lot longer than what it was. Just okay for me.
A surprisingly enjoyable thriller/mystery set in a remote resort on the California coast. A high school teacher finds her solo trip on what would have been her 20th wedding anniversary interrupted by murder and disaster. A familiar story but with more depth of character than usual.
I was disappointed and this Reese‘s BookClub pick. It‘s a murder mystery at a coastal resort close to where I‘m from. I suppose that‘s what made me want to read this. In the beginning it started off ok but in the end it felt rushed. I just didn‘t want to DNF it. If felt like a YA who dunnit. #fallreading #murdermystery #fyp
I listened to this over a few sick days (during which I missed a concert I‘d been really excited about). I have no clue what motivated the MC to get involved with solving the murders, art thefts, secret celebrities. Honesty this book simply had too much going on and none of it seemed to make much sense. Could by the NyQuil, could be the book.
Started off good, but then meandered too much. Then we figured out everything and there was still an hour left in the audiobook which wasn‘t necessary at all.

Im sorry I just did not like this book. The usual trapped on an island murder story. The only saving grace was it was from one perspective and not 8 other characters although there are a lot of characters to keep up with. For me, the story just dragged, the way the MC figured everything out was just beyond reality, the ending was cheesy, the murder was stupid. I skimmed a lot to be honest. Save yourself and don‘t waste your time.
This was a fun twisty book to listen to while I was puttering this weekend.
The murder mystery was interesting, but not really thrilling. I think it was more of a comfortable type read, a little slow, but with a good focus on the characters. I loved the exploration of trauma. I think that was the best part of the story. Especially how that weaved in throughout everything going on in the story. The ending was a bit disappointing, but it fit with the feel of the story.
15 years ago there was a single-season show called Harper‘s Island. A group goes to an island for a wedding and guests start dying off. This reminded me so much of it! Definitely less gruesome deaths in the book, but the same sort of feel. This one was a little more reflective about past trauma, and the ending felt weak to me, but it was a fun read. I like that despite being a murder mystery there‘s minimal violence & good supporting characters.
I‘m struggling to find some redeeming qualities to this. I listened on audio. It‘s truly awful. I cannot understand the hype. Save yourselves.
This was a thrilling read and it was full of twists and turns. This was a highly anticipated read for me when it was released and I‘m so glad it lived up to the hype.
My July #doublespin 🎇! I‘m somewhat over people trapped on secluded resorts/etc., but this one had engaging enough characters to get keep it interesting.
Current audiobook.

I‘ve been in the mood for a thriller set in a fun location, and this fit the bill! I was interested in Ellery and her story right away. There wasn‘t much suspense or action for most of this, though, and I wasn‘t emotionally invested in the mystery. There was too much explaining instead of storytelling. 🎧 #reesesbookclub
