So. Slow. To. Start. Seriously I could have started halfway through the book and been fine. I think I will give the second book a shot. It hopefully will get moving quicker since the scene has been well and thoroughly set after this one dragged its feet to get there. I like the setting and the characters so there is hope I‘ll be able to finish the series.

So good. I can‘t say more without spoilers but I don‘t think I‘ve ever listened to an audiobook that fast. I went on extra walks so I could get more listening time. I don‘t read a lot of suspense, but after this I probably will pick up more. I‘ll definitely queue up the series. A bit morbid at times and some body horror vibes, so be warned if you‘re squeamish.

A short novella. I liked the concept but I wish it would have been a full novel with more character development and world building. A little heavy with themes of sexual assault so be warned before you begin. I loved the feminist themes but it just didn‘t land for me as a great retelling of a Sleeping Beauty story.

Loved it! Another hit from V.E. Schwab. I would pick this one up again. Addie is so well written that she feels like she could be real. Brilliant book!

BkClubCare And, do you recommend this for narration? (Of course, with Julia Whelan! Should I definitely go audio?) 1mo
Zatetic1 @BkClubCare yes I loved the narration! The character is French but loses her accent over time. The voice actress did this so well that you could tell exactly which time period you were in just based on the accent! 3w
BkClubCare @Zatetic1 - awesome 👏 thank you 3w

Blasted through this in 2 sittings. Bouncing around in her timeline kept it from feeling like a boring biography where we all know the ending. I‘ve followed Des‘ career but never knew the health challenges she faced. A great read for running fans.

Stopped by the library to pick up a few books to get through winter break. I realized I‘m at 29 completed for the year so I need to finish one more for a nice round number! Choosing to Run seems like a good motivational book as we hurtle toward the new year.

A great prequel! A bit more adventure than the first book, but the reviewer on the cover calls it “a warm hug of a book” and that is so accurate. If you like fantasy or DnD, and you want an easy read with a fun story, this is it. It stays true to Viv‘s character from the first book but doesn‘t feel repetitive. You can see her growth. Loved it and would read/listen again.

Didn‘t quite stick the landing for me. The ending seemed very rushed. I liked the series but it isn‘t a reread for me. I think the third book could have been so good, just needed a little more world building and a stronger finish. I probably would have enjoyed this a lot more as teen. Sometimes I need an easy read and this definitely checked that box.

Listened to the audiobook and greatly enjoyed it. Lots of fantastic details throughout that keep you guessing but then come back together at the end perfectly. I loved the main character and seeing the world through her eyes. Perfect amount of horror and spookiness for someone who doesn‘t like scary books.

The second of the Hunter series. I enjoyed this one more than the first. Looking forward to reading Apex to finish the series. A light easy read was just what I needed.

I enjoyed the first book in the series. Good premise, interesting characters. This one felt…. Bleh. If I had to listen to her say “lightning girl” one more time… Maybe it was the audiobook and I would have done better reading it. Bailed halfway through and moving on. Life is too short to be annoyed by a book.

Needed something light after Gideon the Ninth. Loved the first one so jumping back into Viv‘s world.
