I‘ve been wanting to watch the movie forever but figured I‘d read the book first. After only 45 minutes in & I really have no idea why. #Next

Darkly satirical, macho, and dogmatic comes anarchy personified, Tyler Durden, raging against consumer culture and class stratification with napoleonic savagery. Mindless, respectable drones become mutinous guerillas amongst sardonic undertones and hypnotic prose. I had zero expectations when I chose this book, having not seen the film, and was promptly knocked off my feet. Mind blown. Excuse me while I collect my jaw off the floor. Incredible!

I've seen the movie a million times, so when I saw the audio was available I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed!
Fast paced, thrilling and almost as good as the movie.
Yes, I liked the movie better, especially the ending 😄 But mostly the movie adaptation sticks to the book. Only a few deviation.

It was a quick and fun read. Loved the movie as well.
Writing is very fast-paced and witty.
Really enjoyed this book as it gives us an interesting look at humanity. Talking about how people can become influenced in an ideology. Also a lot about human connection and how important it is for a person. Overall enjoyed this one and can see why people really enjoy it

Both Paolo and Paul joined on this one to discuss the book that the famous movie is based on. We talk about what Chuck Palahniuk likes to do in his free time, talk about Fight club comic books – Fight Club 2 and 3. We also look at Fight Club 4 the children‘s book and finally look at the connection to Mr. Robot.
My little book haul today. I‘m so excited to change my classics over to hardbacks, even though it has been a search to find them.
Went out for cocktails and Vietnamese food again 💕 this time with Sarah who I'll be cat sitting for over the next couple of weeks.
The fight club cocktail came with edible soap (basically a sherbert ice cube) 🍸🍹
My plan is to make my way through the entire menu over the next few months 😄💅

Although I prefer the ending of the book to the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed both of these and each features the main character in a #Skyscraper.
Sometimes you should read books that make you uncomfortable and this one definitely fits the bill.

Day 115.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
Palahniuk prose were riviting, and although I knew the plot I was still intrigued by the unpredictable narrator. I was curious to see how things would unfold in print form and for the most part the movie follows the book pretty accurately. This is a rare case where I enjoyed the movie more actually. This one fell somewhere in the middle for me. It's definitely one of thoes books that wont be for everyone. #bookreview
Certainly not a pleasant read, but I‘ve been curious about Chuck Palahniuk for years. I can‘t quite give the book an enthusiastic pick, but it was inventive and will stay with me for a while. 3* out of 5 (I have not seen the movie.)
Couldn‘t decide what to read next, so I decided to re-read this. Didn‘t quite pack the same punch (what the hell ever does?) and I found it extremely hard to read now without seeing it as a prophecy in which everything came true except the liberation.

Day 30 - #Anger
Sometimes I would like to join a club like this to vent my anger 😅
I finally got around to reading this, and while it wasn't great for my insomnia it was an excellent read and an entirely original story.
This book was dark, gritty and twisted. I really enjoyed reading this classic though I would advise that it's pretty pessimistic and brutally honest about some dark topics. I liked the plot and the anger and perception of the world from our main characters, though I did find it confusing at times until the end with the massive plot twists. The writing style was odd as the conversations aren't written like normal, but I loked the originality of it.

We are not crap or trash, either.
We just are.
We just are, and what happens just happens."
"The first rule about fight club is you don't talk about fight club"
A short classic. One of those I liked it as a teen and wondered if it‘d stand…I was wildly uncomfortable reading a good chunk of it, but the overall critique herein benefits from the graphic language imo. Some of Palahniuk‘s later work felt like he was being crass just for the sake of it, shocking readers for no good reason. But not this one! What a ride. Eager to reread some of his other books now!

I'm breaking the first rule - I'm going to talk about Fight Club! This was an interesting read. I saw the movie years ago and remembered the twist, which was unfortunate because I would have liked to have experienced the surprise while reading it. However, even knowing what happens, the way Palahniuk artfully weaves his web of in your face deception is fascinating. A great study in unreliable narrators for writers and entertaining to boot!

I mean... I would talk about Fight Club, but you know, the first rule and all... 😉 (Quarantine book #42; read a book by a queer writer)
Spectacular, far and away so much better than the movie. They are, in fact so different that I now consider them two different pieces of work/narrative.
Fight Club is a novel for broken men. Men who feel like they have no one to talk to, no one to expose their weaknesses to......it's a commentary on emotional maintenance and I loved it.
The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.
The Fight Club is one of the books that I never had a plan of reading. I saw the movie first and the desire to read the source material never developed. But a library sale happened and now it's on my physical #TBR so I'm #currentlyreading
@MaleficentBookDragon once again you have sent me a great #LMPBC package! Thank you so much for the books, candy, coffee, and seasons 1 and 2 of The Strain! You are awesome!

This book was sent by a loving friend. I cannot believe how many reads I have gotten in the mail over the summer. I am forever grateful. This one was a nice surprise and a pretty comical read. I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit more than I thought I would. I almost didn't read it but I'm glad I did.
A big thank you @erzascarletbookgasm !!! Got this wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday. So excited! #bookmail #litsylove #jb
“Tyler says I‘m nowhere near hitting the bottom, yet. And if I don‘t fall all the way, I can‘t be saved.”
In Fight Club, self-destruction is a way to discover the truth of your own heart and to be ‘hitting the bottom‘, you have to lose and sacrifice everything in your life.
