Pickpick

This was my April 2024 BOTM pick. I enjoyed this thriller/ mystery about the unsolved murder of Savvy, a young woman who was discovered bludgeoned to death. Everyone suspected her best friend, Lucy, of killing her but there wasn‘t enough proof. Now, years later a true crime podcaster is reopening the case. I liked the podcast form which made for short fast chapters. I gave it 4 stars. #BOTM. #CurrentlyReading. #ListenForTheLie.

This is like... really good so far. I can already tell the narrator is unreliable, and can't wait to see how unhinged this becomes. As a huge fan of Carrie, (Stephen King), I can definitely see the correlation the author noted in the introduction/author's note. I feel for this main character, but am also low-key afraid of what she's capable of doing.

Jaws | Peter Benchley

I'm taking a break from listening to Don Quixote during my commute.. and I started listening to Jaws! 🦈

Thoroughly enjoying it, though I have to remind myself this was written in the 70's because his references to costs and what seemed expensive back then.... man, I WISH. Imagine making 8k a YEAR and still being able to afford a house and support a stay at home mom/wife and 3 children. Yeah... right. Not in this economy!!

These past 2 days i have been in the mood to just read and it feels great. Reading for hours and into the night is soothing my tired body and soul right now to the point where i am very antisocial at the moment 😆

Babe, wake up, new Walsh Sisters novel just dropped! #CurrentlyReading

willaful Do you suppose she's going to catch up with all of them?

I never read Anybody Out There, will have to give it a go before this.

Andrea313 @willaful I'm not sure if she'll do another book for each sister, though I'd love if she did! We got a pretty good look at Claire's life (through Helen's lens) in Mercy Close, and she did give us more of Rachel in the one I'm tagging here. I'm still very early into this one, so we'll see how much of the other sisters we get- either way, I'll take all of it! 2w

Starting on this one today. Went to see Bri speak about her debut novel last night. I have read two of her non-fiction books. Eggshell Skull is my favourite. #currentlyreading #ozfiction

CarolynM There was a really snarky review of this and also Louise Milligan‘s novel in the Age on the weekend. It made me wonder whether they are both bad (I knew @Jeg didn‘t like the Milligan) or if the reviewer‘s envy was showing. I look forward to seeing what you think of this one. 2w
LeeRHarry Have this on hold at the library - looking forward to your thoughts. 😊 2w
MrsMalaprop @CarolynM The ‘flavour‘ of a few reviews put me off a little, and made me decide not to choose it for book club. I will be sure to post a review when I‘m done @LeeRHarry. And I don‘t think it will take be long to finish as it‘s quite pacy! 2w
Jeg Will be interested to see what you think of this. I love her nonfiction. Louise Milligans was a disappointment and I do love her nonfiction. 2w

I am #currentlyreading this little book that has sat on my TBR shelves for many years. I think I was loaned it (oops) by someone when I did my country school psychology placement in the 90s. Has anyone heard of the author or her short stories?

She wrote this memoir in her early 40s, which seems too young to be feeling so tired. Although it was 1939 and no doubt women‘s lives were very different then…🤔
