This was between a so-so and a pan for me. The premise of this installment into the Casey Duncan series is solid. Bring in a serial killer, chaos ensues! For me, the problems lay in the multiple red herrings that ended up making the plot and especially the last few chapters a convoluted mess. There was just too dang much.

I made this incredible lasagna soup that @JenlovesJT47 shared from her #feedareader package. It was SO good and complimented this windy day and reading perfectly.

The story has broken me in both the best and worst ways.

Man, I hated to finish this book. I dragged it out for so long. I love Jane Harper and I love Aaron Falk as a particularly flawed character. I enjoyed the deeper dive into his relationship with his father and how it affected the case and vice versa. The story was great and kept me guessing til almost the end. Definitely pick this up. (The narration by Stephen Shanahan is A+ as usual)

Dammit. This books is going to make me ugly cry, isn‘t it?

I went back and forth on how to rate this. I know Flavia is beloved on here, and overall the book was well-written and I enjoyed the story. However, I prefer my murder mysteries with a bit more...murder? Still, I‘m giving it a pick even though I don‘t plan on continuing the series. This fulfilled the Cozy Mystery for #booked2018 challenge!

I meant to post this a few days ago when I finished and then got sidetracked because life. I really enjoyed this book. It really referenced so much childhood pop culture without getting too hokey or heavy-handed with the “back in the day was so much better”. The world-building was incredible. I could see everything so clearly in my mind. I‘m very curious to see how the film version translates everything.

It is *almost* embarrassing how bad I am at sticking to my “I‘m not going to buy anymore books for a few months” rule that I enacted on Thursday. Almost. I‘m justifying it by remembering that I took 40+ books to 2nd and Charles yesterday. So it evens out, right?

This was such a fun book, narrated by the author. I loved learning about Persian culture and the stories about her parents, and especially her father, were poignant and funny. Definitely recommend!

I wish this book had been around when I was in high school. I grew up while the riot grrl movement was happening, but it never made it to me and I think it would have made a huge impact on me. This is perfect for high schoolers that are just getting into feminism. It‘s sort of a riot grrl fairytale and it‘s wonderful!
