I really, really enjoyed and recommend this book. It‘s not just about substance addiction but how we can all be addicted to something- success, control, affection. I think anyone can get something from this book 🙏

This month‘s spiritual direction read. I‘m way more into it than I thought I would be. We all can be addicted to something- control, success, relationships- and the author makes a great case for this.

As a spiritual person, I definitely agree and enjoyed some of the points that were made. The writing is a little almost too (excuse the pun) flowery at times for my taste. I wanted a little bit more historical reflection and less superfluous verbiage if that makes any sense

Such an important work. I think even the non Christian should read this as it is more about our history with racism and the realities of the underprivileged more so than living a distinctly Christian life.

I finished this to see where it was going but it didn‘t go anywhere good. No real arc for characters. It was pretty grotesque for me. Luckily it was a fast read.

Got this as an easy poolside Spring Break read and it didn‘t disappoint! Some eye roll predictable points but also some unexpected additions which made this easy to read.

I am cruising along finishing all the books I‘ve started this year- that‘s what summer is for! I‘m biased since I teach Scripture, but I really enjoyed this book. I appreciated his perspectives and found myself being reaffirmed in my faith a little bit 😊 recommend for believers and non believers alike!
