Started The King‘s Shadow on my lunch break today, and I‘m fascinated so far!
Started The King‘s Shadow on my lunch break today, and I‘m fascinated so far!
This was SO GOOD.
Downloaded an ARC from Netgalley Friday afternoon. Started reading around 7:30 Friday night. Finished it at 11:30 after ignoring Noel and the kids all evening. Haha. #betholeary
I am 2 chapters in, and surprised by the fairly scathing social commentary so far! Hard to believe that this was first published 30 years ago. Blanche was ahead of her time. #BlackLivesMatter
Welllll instead of reading the books I ought to be reading… I‘m bingeing this series on audio. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Clawing my way back to full functionality after c-vid finally caught up w/ us. 😭 It‘s been a loooong seven days. But I finished a puzzle today, yay for brain improvement.
Hoping to read this book this weekend! And hope you‘re all healthy!
I‘m reading while my husband stresses his way through the 49ers game. Then later we get a kid-free dinner, woot! Hope you‘re having a good weekend too. 😃
#raisingreaders! (Apparently an exciting part of the book, based on her face. 🤣🤷🏼♀️)
This is such a sweet Christmas book!
I especially love that it‘s not Santa-y (we don‘t really do Santa) or religious (you can only tell the Nativity story so many ways 😅).
It‘s just the tale of 2 sisters and negotiating Christmas kindness for both of them. 😍🎄
Can‘t resist showing off the final pumpkin donut product.
Off to put my feet up and play some Two Dots while I keep listening to Aurora‘s End. I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH.
Squeeeee! Listening to this one - FINALLY! - as I do some #thanksgiving baking.
I only get Thursday off work - Wed & Fri the kids and my husband get to hang out. But I‘m still thankful for the actual day. And for good books to listen to while I‘m working! 💜
Grabbed this on Scribd on a whim… and am fascinated so far! #nonfictionnovember
This was WONDERFUL on audio. A cozy, comforting, foodie book. 💜
I love Jenny Colgan books on audio so much! Yay for Scottish accents.
And I managed to wait till 11/3 before I let myself start this one! *pats self on back* #christmasbooks
I devoured this history / memoir of a pediatrician trying to expose the lead in the Flint water system. HIGHLY recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🍂 I‘m having a very autumnal afternoon! 🍂
💨 Blustering wind and falling leaves outside? ✔️
🧩 Halloween puzzle? ✔️
🧙♀️ Cute witchy romance audiobook? ✔️
🍞 Bread baking? ✔️
It‘s so cozy! 😍 🍁
My 11yo asked for some screentime, so I said sure. I was reading on my kindle app when an email notification popped up…. And she had sent me this. 🤣💀 #kidsthesedays
Scene: the library books I‘m not reading lined up on my back porch railing. 😅
I‘ve been renewing some of these for 2 months. I probably should release them from purgatory.
Books number 191 and 192 of October! I‘m so close to my goal of 200!!! #howjessicareads2021
I highly recommend this series for an autumnal / witchy middle grade vibe! I read the first one last fall and I‘m loving book 2 right now.
I know I‘ve been pretty MIA. Ever since we moved this summer, I‘ve struggled to get into a groove over here! 😣 (Also I‘ve been interacting a ton more w Instagram followers in my stories, so that takes a lot of my phone time.)
But! It‘s my first fall since 2004. After 16 years of desert-living, I‘m so glad to be back in tree-land again! 🥰🍁🐿🍃
Middle school orientation for this girl today. (😲🤯)
And we had to stop and snap a pic when we spotted this mural...
Currently reading! Liking it so far. #audiobook
Happy #SillySundayShelf! 😆 #litsyhumor
#Currentlyreading — I‘m 13% in, and fascinated!
I‘ve found 3 LFLs in our new neighborhood so far! And I got a new job! And I haven‘t been reading much. 😅
But I have a few days of vacation next week, and I‘m hoping to rectify that. 😍 #littlefreelibrary
Howdy howdy! I‘ve been MIA bc I was busy MOVING. Traded in desert and cacti for 7,000 feet of elevation and the wind in the pines. 😍🌲
I‘d lived in Tucson for 16 years (almost exactly to the day!) so this is a big big change. Our kids had always lived in the same house as far as they remembered (we moved 2 miles when our eldest was 2), so they‘re a little less on board haha.
But I think they‘ll come around, bc Flagstaff is great! 😄
I listened to this whole YA queer romance today while I was packing boxes in the kids‘ rooms (the big move is next week!).
It was super cute, and I love how the girls smashed the patriarchy at their posh private school (and how racism was called out as well).
Plus Australian accents on audio! 😍 #pridemonth #queerfiction
I met Jen De Luca for brunch today, and it was so fun! Love chatting books with a delightful author.
GAH. Imma need Blue to show up to smack some sense into Ronan. 🙈🙈🙈
And now that I binged the whole book in a day, I‘m going to have to wait sooooo long for another book!
Squeeeee! So excited it‘s finally release day. Trying to pace myself... but I‘m probably just gonna devour it. 😬🙈 #maggiestiefvater
I‘ve been loving Shadow & Bone!! Who else has watched it? 😍 #shadowandbone
My April in review! #howjessicareads2021 #AxeTheStacks
I liked the top row the best — they were all incredible. The bottom row were my least favorites.
Final #AxeTheStacks update!
Amari and the Night Brothers: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Share Your Stuff, I'll Go First: read 3 chapters.
The Warmth of Other Suns: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Camelot Caper: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️
Such a Fun Age. ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lost States: Started
Hana Khan Carries On: didn't get to
A Year of Biblical Womanhood: didn't get to
The Summer Job: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Very Good Gospel: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stasiland: DNFed
The Betel Nut Mystery: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unorthodox: ✔️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Two chapters in, and my mind is already blown! 🤯🤯
My physical #AxeTheStacks update! I‘ve got five more days... can I finish the rest?? I‘ll share my digital update in a minute.
I did it! I finished an #AxeTheStacks book on vacay!
It‘s compulsively readable, and I love/hated how Kelley could see Alix‘s racism, but not his own, and how Alix could see Kelley‘s, but not hers. Kiley Reid did a great job analyzing race in a clever, funny way.
But I found Emira herself super aggravating, and I spent most of the book being embarrassed/annoyed on her behalf.
Some #AxeTheStacks reading and toad-in-the-hole on this lazy Saturday morning! What are you up to today?
Someone just told me “I‘m having the best lazy morning ever! I‘ve just been lying in bed and reading all day.” 😂😍 #raisingreaders
I‘m loving AMARI AND THE NIGHT BROTHERS so much! I bought the print copy last month, and then the audio copy this morning, so I can zip right through it. I think I‘ll be happy to own both versions anyway, since my 10yo prefers audiobooks these days, but I can loan the other one to nieces or nephews. #axethestacks
Today was the MOST EXCITING DAY! I got to take the girls to browse in the library for the first time in 13 months. AND, it was a brand new library branch, which was built in 2020, but just opened for limited quick browsing. It‘s so new I can‘t even tag it. 😅
But yay books!! 📚😍 #litsyloveslibraries
Slightly comatose due to the consumption of a large number of Starburst jellybeans. 😅
Hoping to get a little #axethestacks reading in... but also tempted by a nap. 😬
Happy Easter from me and my crew! (Yes, I get that “silly face” pretty often from the tween these days, lol.)
My first title for my #AxeTheStacks challenge! I was struggling a bit around the 40% mark and almost bailed; but I‘m glad I pushed through! The last half was incredibly fascinating. #howjessicareads21
