@dabbe my #moodboardcontest #mbc entry a little watching my pets for smiles, memes for sarcasm ish truth ish stuff and always a little hope. The wolf and Red are a favorite comforting theme of mine and the Banksy quote is a favorite theme of mine. the frogs i saved because they cracked me up. Congrats again and thanks for this fun celebration of you!
Happy Easter to those who celebrate and Happy #hyggehourreadathon day!
I enjoyed the world building and characters in this book- although the trope is very tropey. (enemies to lovers) I wish i had a map- but there were sections that were very visual to read. I think it was fast paced but would have liked a bit more to parts of the story- also have some spoilery thoughts i won‘t type- overall recommend for an engaging fantasy/romantasy book.
Happy #hyggehourreadathon day 💛💛💛💛💛
I am alternating all day with reading, coffee, soup and cleaning. I am so happy to just be able to chill. The rain has stopped and joint pain eased- but ya know how tiring a week of pain is…. so resting and reading and laundry it is!
Can‘t wait to see your moments of hygge and reading 📚☕️
Happy #hyggehourreadathon day! Join us from 8-9 your time or any time that works for you today! Just a reminder to gift yourself with some cozy reading in community- and feel free to share a picture of your space or what you are reading!
Today is dreary and wet but my bulbs are blooming and buds are growing- we are set for a freeze this week so today i will spend as much of the day in coziness and comfort as possible- reading from a few books.
Book 3 in this cozy ish series. A delight to listen to! I love this series and am so glad it was introduced via #cbbc
But i need help!!!! I really need to find a recipe for actual Irish curry chips- google is giving me potato chip recipes- does anyone know if i can find them in DC or NY? or a recipe????
Happy #hyggehour day! I am not sure what I will be reading but it will be some combination of these. Hoping some yard and weather will cooperate and i will be reading outside by this evening.
I may get the Carlene O‘Connor books on audio…
#hyggehourreadathon
Loving my #springcardswap cards Thank you Christine for hosting- I love this so much!
Low pick for me. I have liked other books by Donnelly quite a bit and was a little disappointed in the writing style. I LOVE Beauty and the Beast and retellings- so was a excited to read a gender swapped version. I also liked the premise. I just was not pulled in and found it to be a little boring. It could also be just the timing…
I enjoyed the world building and found family camaraderie in this third book. The cliffhanger is a killer - i did not realize the last book has not been published yet and i may have waited to read this if i had known- I‘m thoroughly invested in these books.
Second book- and the surprise twist is interesting to see how the FMC comes into her power and works to survive while walking the line between several roles.
I enjoyed this Romantasy much more than I expected. The FMC is trained as a healer in a world with magic where non magic humans are considered the lowest and often killed indiscriminately- especially if a child born to a non magic human and descendent . There are several plots occurring at one time, rebellions and almost everyone seems to be morally grey at different moments.
Closer to solving the mystery thread from the first book, but there is another murder at the event she coordinated for valentines weekend. I do like the creative events she plans and i find it funny that they all continue as planned before during and after the murder that occurs.
Yup…. another event and another murder. She really could be a serial killer in plain sight in theory…. but a fun event idea, engaging primary mystery and more clues for the secondary mystery thread that runs through each of the books. Still a pick but i would definitely avoid her events…
The third book and third event- I‘m not sure i would risk going to these events though… they are plagued by murders…. I like the story and the mystery and the characters- but i think the murders should occur outside the events she coordinates…
The mc is planning events to breathe new life into the small town and mystery bookstore. Of course there‘s a murder!! Still a solid pick.
I am starting to feel like myself again… so of course will update and bookbomb Litsy- I‘m also trying to engage more with storygraph. Reading has of course been life saving and soul saving these days! This was a #cbbc pick and i liked a lot of things about this first of 6 books. Takes place in a bookstore within a cute town and the detective and mc have 2 mysteries to solve. The detective was her college mentor and i loved the collaboration.
The book Zuckerberg does not want people to read. The author cannot promote it but Macmillan can sell it- The story is on my IG if anyone is interested.
Anyone one else hear about this book?
#taxtherich #noologarchy
Apparently there are numbers of readers who do not understand the messaging in Fantasy. I am guessing if they did we would see more book bans…. cause a woman who thinks is dangerous.
I am OVERWHELMED! Disgusted with the US executive branch, terrified by ignorance, and then struggling with chaos in my own life (getting better- it feels like domestic violence is a lingering poison though) So looking forward to #hyggehourreadathon and seeing posts of our community in coziness. Sending you all love. Also will share a link i‘m using for donations to the Ukraine if anyone is interested.
I enjoyed this installment much better than the last one. I like when Coyote gets involved and wreaks havoc but somehow it was the right havoc. I enjoyed Baba Yaga having an appearance and overall it did feel like a more complete story or episode.
I read the previous one for #cbbc and wanted to continue the series. I‘m enjoying this cozy in an upstate NY town where Christmas Shops are year round. I enjoyed the mystery- it actually was not who I thought it would be and still made sense! The side characters are very lovable and the main character is fun!
Hi friends! I‘m working with a busy brained child who cannot transition to sleep easily. I think audiobooks may be helpful and would love to hear some recommendations I can pass along to the family. I will be grateful for any suggestions. Please and Thank you!
It‘s windy. life‘s chaotic, but i‘m relaxing into #hyggehour with an ebook, my blanket and Saoirse. I hope you are all getting some time to rest and relax before facing the next week.
Anyone else concerned that the US Constitution we have all read and treasured is going in the direction of banned books? Any concerns about specific parts of the constitution that your elected officials can be encouraged to uphold? The above number will help you reach out to your elected officials. In general I highly recommend reading this- especially the added amendments.
I felt a little overwhelmed and thought some parts were convoluted, but it is a shapeshifter/fae/vampire and gazillion other creatures world so who am I to judge? I always enjoy my visits into this world in general so while this is not a favorite book in the series I‘m still happy I read it.
I started this on audio- and could not get into it at all, but when i switched to reading I enjoyed it much better. The setting is Upstate NY and a year round Christmas Town- I thought that was funny because in College it felt like it snowed October until May in Utica NY. I liked the characters, was a little survey the killer and overall enjoyed the mystery.
i loved this Vampyre Werewolf romantasy book so much! For perspective- even with Onyx Storm/Emperyan hangover and chaos in my personal life (we are all safe ❤️ ) and the illigal takeover of Federal funds that may destroy my fledgling private practice- I thoroughly escaped into this world and loved the unique take on the “tropes”.
Went straight into this book over the weekend- technically it would have counted for #hyggehourreadathon but i have not posted in a few days. I absolutely devoured this sequel. I highly recommend this duology for fantasy readers.
I needed a serious escape from a serious situation- and this book delivered. It reminded me in style of Naomi Novak or Katherine Arden. The imagery and atmosphere and concept of magic were perfect.
Just finished. I loved this book. I think i will reread it more slowly and i have a lot of questions… but some of my suspicions were accurate and so maybe more will be. I was supposed to be at the author talk tuesday- my SIL video taped most of it for me since i had a family emergency and could not go- and her talk was so much fun to watch! I am curious about what the target edition looks like…
my countdown timer- it‘s going to be likely 2 years or more until the next book 😢
Prepping for tonight- I am re reading Iron Flame to prepare for the Onyx Storm release, In the middle of Magical Midlife Challenge on kindle and listening Dawn on A Distant Shore and The Cruel Prince depending on my mood. 3/4 of these are repeats. #hyggehourreadathon
Thank you so much for my #littlechristmasswap @alexus_sb It is perfect! Thank you so much for hosting @bookish_wookish ❄️🩵❄️
This is not a cozy- but book 2 in a mystery series. The main character is an archeologist asked to solve a mystery by examining bones. There is a second timeline 500 years in the past. I really liked this book and will read the others. For #hyggehour I am reading Magical Midlife Challenge- that i will write about soon. I am in the tail end of an epstein barr flair and being cozy on the couch is exactly what i need. 🩵
Thank you Ashley for my #naughtylistholidayswap package! I love it!!! The book sleeve is Hysterical! I love it! and I love your book choices! As someone who regularly took the A train i have thought this book would be hysterical! Thank you @WildAlaskaBibliophile for hosting! 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Just back from taking my daughters girlfriend to union station in DC. I have my daughter all to myself- she started the Iron Flame audio book- and i will probably join her in listening tonight.

Aletheia this arrived today- is it for a swap? 😘😍😘
Happy Solstice! Blessed Yule! This day reminds me to take a deep breath, enjoy the light and feel some hope in the chaos around me. I love slipping away from the commercial world to have moments of focus back on nature. I will have wassail and a fire tonight , my family tradition for 9 years- and Brynne is home to make the wassail!!! 🕯️🤍🕯️I hope all of you experience some calm too💙(tagging some who celebrate but wishing for everyone)
Thank you Amy!! your friendship means so much! I love this and the thoughtfulness of you book choice. Sending love to you- and hoping i can get some cards and packages completed with a little delay but a lot of love to send.
