My least favourite of the series initially, I found it a slog until the last 100 pages, where SHIT WENT DOWN.

I cried, my soul has died, Rebecca Yarros has ruined my life again.

LOVED it!
I could nitpick (some language gets repetitive, at times there‘s more telling instead of showing) but the romance, the action, everyone growing as characters, the quest was all so good. & It took a moment to poke at the fans & so-called inconsistencies, which was fun for me.

As always Yarros totally nails the ending. I‘m torn between needing more & hoping we take a long enough break that it‘s worth me re-reading & overthinking lmao

Did I stay up until 3:00am just to order the Target special edition of Onyx Storm even though I already had the deluxe edition? Yes. Yes, I did! 🤭💕

Okay, so the main difference for the outside is that the Target edition has a different image on the page edges, has gold letters for the title, and is overall more metallic looking!

Just finished. I loved this book. I think i will reread it more slowly and i have a lot of questions… but some of my suspicions were accurate and so maybe more will be. I was supposed to be at the author talk tuesday- my SIL video taped most of it for me since i had a family emergency and could not go- and her talk was so much fun to watch! I am curious about what the target edition looks like…

BAIL ❌ This kind of writing is exhausting. So much telling with little showing. So basic. A line of dialogue followed by, essentially, stage directions. Over and over for eternity. Once this clicked in my brain, it couldn‘t be undone. And I feel like this could take place anywhere just add some cool creatures; a severe lack of world building. I was quickly reminded of why I rated Iron Flame only 3 stars. After 8 chapters, I‘m out.

Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics yes- it was funny my SIL and i have known each other since HS and she said she thought Violet complained a lot about about pain- because she said i never seemed to be in pain- and i laughed because i was ALWAYS in pain- just worked through it 🤣 It really felt good to have a character who has a similar body! 1w

Rebecca Yarros adding teasers… and my countdown to book release. I love these books- but full disclosure- i read them twice- and realized a lot of the things that “bugged” me the first time - were not problematic the second time- instead i realized how much foreshadowing occurred! (A Lot) and that it was so much better the second time! and yes- i am currently OBSESSED ♥️ Anyone want to discuss second signet theories?

GingerAntics I know what it is. She told us it was all there in the books, and it is. I read it a second time and figured it out. I haven‘t found a single other person who has figured it out yet, though. Everyone seems stuck on the Liam thing. 4mo

GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit Vi specifically pulls on Andarna‘s power when she does one thing. What is it? Andarna said she waited to be born to be Vi‘s dragon because of who she is. Tairn speaks to one half of who she is. Andarna the other half. It has already manifested itself, too, per Yarros. So just think about when she shuts out Tairn‘s power and when she pulls on Andarna‘s. 4mo

Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics i‘ve considered amplifying or amplifying what she needs, but some of that occurred while Andarna was in her deep sleep. I think I‘m also very nervous about the cliffhanger that will occur in Onyx Storm because it will likely be 2 years until book 4. 4mo

GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit I know. I don‘t want to wait for the next book. It‘s been painful waiting this long. I‘ve even gone as far as to get the graphic audio versions of the two books that are out, just to tide me over. 4mo

GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit Vi pulls on Andarna‘s power when she creates runes. She is a rider and a scribe. Tairn‘s signet is her rider nature. Andarna‘s is her scribe nature. It‘s going to have something to do with building runes. I have a feeling she‘s going to rebuild the wards and/or make it possible to defeat the dark magic once and for all. If every time they defeat the wyvern she can put up new wards, then she can slowly push them out. We‘ll see. 4mo

GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit Yarros has an amazing way of finishing on a complete sentence, but making it feel like so just stopped mid sentence. It kills me every time. If I didn‘t need answers now, I‘d wait for the last 3 books to come out to continue. 4mo
