Hi Litsy friends—quick non-book-related post! This is my friend Amber & her wife Elizabeth—two of my closest friends & also two of the most generous & caring people I know. Amber suffers from occipital neuralgia (chronic migraines, vertigo, nausea, light sensitivity). Recently all treatment that had helped stopped working. She‘s an ideal candidate for a surgery to cure her—with a 90% success rate—but insurance won‘t cover it.

As I know, many of you have headache or migraine, I wanted to show you this.

I've downloaded to app on left. It's really great. It counts your hours of sleep and you can tell the app, everything about your pain. Where is focused, if you took medicine, if you have other pains etc. The one on the right seems to be an equal app in English.

I've been battling a headache that has made the leap to migraine. I'm going on day 5 of head pain. I've gotten very little reading done. Audiobooks don't work for me when I have a migraine because I prefer to sleep and I hate missing part of my audiobooks. Hopefully this will pass today, if not doctor tomorrow.

Please pardon the rant...I appear to be in an epic book slump, which I'm blaming on the last four weeks of near constant migraine. I'm trying to just read a chapter a day of Persuasion for the buddy read, and while Six Four is ok, not a lot is happening and it is very easy to put down and not pick back up. I've only finished 1 audiobook (hated it), 1 comic (not impressed), and 4 kids books this month. I want something unputdownable! 😭😭😭

My_novel_obsession I was trying to think of a book to recommend that was unputdownable...I think you need a book that you can just sink into...like anything by Kent Haruf or Ivan Doig or either books by Anthony Marra - A Constellation of Vital Phenomena or The Tsar of Love and Techno. The writing will suck you in. Or something that keeps you going because you just have to find out what's going on - The Last One by Alexandrea Oliva 8y

Myhusbandhatesreading I just started Topamax as a maintenance med for migraines and am a little spacey, but if it makes them go away it may just be worth it! Good luck to you!! 8y

Bibliogeekery @Myhusbandhatesreading Hope it helps you! I'm a psychotherapist and Topomax made me too spacey to work effectively so I had to abandon it. I have a friend who's having a lot more luck on it than I did - hopefully you do too! 8y

Myhusbandhatesreading @Bibliogeekery thank you. I'm so sorry it didn't work for you. Migraines really are a terrible thing to live with. I have also tried peppermint oil on my forehead, temples, and the back of my neck. It doesn't completely get rid of the pain for me but it does help. 8y

Texreader I feel for you all! I get migraines as a side effect if I miss one dose of a medicine I take. Argh! It sends me into a dark spiral of pain so I cannot function at all. I am so grateful I can "control" mine. Special thoughts your way. 8y

Gezemice I have headaches, fatigue and brainfog related to food sensitivities and autoimmune disorders - I am often confined to resting in bed. I work only part time because of it. I found that diet and exercise helps... not exactly migraines but similar enough - you can add me, too... 8y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Gezemice Sounds a lot like my experience. I have a few diagnoses and did that diet and exercise make a huge difference. Foods can be positive or negative, that's for sure. May you rest and read well, my friend! 8y
