Litsy, meet my beautiful granddaughter Nora Jane! I haven‘t been able to visit and hold her yet (#coronavirussucks) but already love her beyond belief ❤️❤️❤️
Litsy, meet my beautiful granddaughter Nora Jane! I haven‘t been able to visit and hold her yet (#coronavirussucks) but already love her beyond belief ❤️❤️❤️
Trying to concentrate on reading, but it‘s not working very well. Anxiously waiting word on my daughter who is in the hospital right down the road having her first baby and our first grandchild. Due to new restrictions we can‘t be in the hospital with her 😢They only allow one person per laboring mom and I reluctantly let her husband be that person 🤷♀️#coronavirussucks
I must be in the minority here...I‘m hesitant to even make this a so-so. I hated all the characters. It got such great reviews...🤔
Just finished this nonfiction account of a mining disaster in Butte Montana in 1917. In addition to learning about one of the worst mining disasters in history it‘s also a fascinating look into the politics of the time. I grew up in Montana and should have paid more attention in history class! Super interesting - highly recommend
Just finished this interesting read. It was a little repetitive, but overall very informative.
Oh my goodness - it has been so so long since I have posted anything. The last couple of months have been tough but new year, new focus on reading and Litsy! These are my first books of the year...
I have been MIA from Litsy lately - crazy busy with work and life and very little time to read. Trying to get back on track. I have a couple hours this morning to myself before family takes over so I‘m spending time with these books. By the way - if you are not listening to the 3 Book Girls podcast I highly recommend you check it out! Awesome ladies discussing all kinds of books 🤗📚
I do like baseball but combined with a book makes it even better! My husband said I better be reading a book about baseball 😉
This gem is 1.99 today...Ivan Doig is a wonderful writer and this book is one of my favorites!!
Not a fan of getting on a plane at 0600 on a Sunday morning...but I have this gem with me. This one is so so good. It‘s a commitment at almost 600 pages but definitely worth it. #airplanereads 📚✈️
I love three day weekends! I feel like I have an extra day just for reading. Today I want to make some progress on this one...it is phenomenal and so beautifully written (and so long!). I‘m also reading As Long As We Both Shall Live which, at only 20% in has me completely intrigued about what's going to happen next. Happy Monday and Happy Reading 🤗📚
Chances for a productive Sunday are quickly diminishing the further into this book I get. Heartbreaking and atmospheric with an unforgettable main character. Haven‘t finished it yet but if you need a book to grab you immediately, this is it. #reading #amreading #bookstagram #read2019 #unreadshelfproject2019
I‘m looking forward to reading this one. The authors Beth and Sarah host the podcast Pantsuit Politics which is the best podcast on politics that I‘ve found - really the only one I can actually listen to!!
I have two very different books going at the moment - enjoying both very much! 🤗📚
We have declared it to be Mimosa Saturday in our house after everyone has had a very long and busy week. Everybody has a book and a Mimosa...I‘m about done with this one which I really liked.
Just me and Miss Kitty relaxing with a book. Well I have the book and Miss Kitty has the relaxing part down 😻
Same book, same place as yesterday. Had to call in sick to work which basically meant I had to work from home :( as I am still very under the weather. Still working on this book - have had a great run if nonfiction reads this year and this one is no exception. It is going to be hard to find a fiction book that will keep me engaged.
#postsofdistraction @kaye Munchie always makes me smile when I‘m feeling anxious so hope this helps!
Felt like I was coming down with something yesterday and sure enough woke this morning feeling terrible 🥵🥶🤧😷🤒Plan for today is bed and books. I need to recover fast as I absolutely have to go to work tomorrow 😢 Almost finished this book - what an incredible story - highly recommend!
A little quiet time before the football game tonight. This would be a great one for anyone getting snow this weekend. Takes place in a remote inn during a blizzard and everyone gets snowed in. Then the bodies start piling up 😳 Kind of like a modern version of And Then There Were None. Perfect for staying inside curled up on the couch while the snow piles up outside. Unfortunately no snow for us in Houston 😢#reading #read2019 #pickupabook
Long drive home but audiobook helped pass the time. If you are looking for a completely riveting, edge-of-your-seat nonfiction thriller, try Bad Blood, Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou. Crazy good! Keeps you wondering how this could actually happen. Sounds like the script for a great movie but these are real people doing very unethical stuff 😱#reading #roadtripaudiobook #unreadshelfproject2018 #read2019
Had a long road trip today and my mom and I listened to this one....picked it up because it says it‘s about a guy traveling through Scotland touring distilleries and looking for the best whiskey. That was actually a very small@part of the book...author went on A LOT of tangents and political rants. If you are looking for books on traveling through Scotland or on whiskey, I would look elsewhere.
First book of 2019 is to finish this one...highly recommend for anyone interested in military or political history or leadership books.
Made a quick trip to DC for work this week. I started this book the day before I got there and then got the chance to visit the National Marine Corps Museum in Quantico and was able to see the exhibit based on the main battle in this book. I highly highly recommend the book (one of the best I‘ve read this year) and the museum (absolutely amazing and breathtaking)
Definitely feeling under the weather today 🤢. Trying to relax before tomorrow when I have a lot of food to make and socializing to do 😣. This book is perfect for a rest and relax kind of day....
Spent all day in the hospital while my husband underwent an angioplasty - all went well and now he is resting and listening to his audiobook and I‘m trying to keep my eyes open long enough to read a couple chapters of my book #friyayintro #selfie
Spent the last day and a half with a terrible migraine 😫and didn‘t get a chance to post what I picked up at the Louisiana Book Festival. Great books but even better was getting to hang out with @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled @Slajaunie and @thevictoriousone . It was a great day, thank you ladies!
I didn‘t get to participate in the #readathon today as I had to work and had a million errands to run, but I‘m enjoying a relaxing Saturday night with Munchie 😍. The tagged book is very interesting, scary, and maddening 😡🤬
Sneaking in some reading waiting on kickoff #readanywhere 😉 I‘m not quite sure how I feel about this book yet, but the writing has drawn me in.
My daughters and I went to see Erin Gibson last night at #brazosbookstore. She is hilarious and it was a great night. Best part was when she led us all in a scream of anger to let off some frustration with current events 😍
After weeks of traveling, ridiculously long work days and just general chaos, I have a Friday night alone in my happy place. This book is perfect for tuning out everything else. This is sure to become the book I recommend to anyone who is looking for a “beach read” or “palate cleanser”. So much fun 🤗
“You may need to do things you‘re uncomfortable with, say things you don‘t agree with, maybe even lie. Probably lie. Let‘s be honest: You‘re gonna lie a lot.”
This book is about a woman who decides to put her very successful career on hold and run for the Senate. It is effective so far in showing someone with the purest motives for serving having to play the absurd game of politics. Very fun!
Celebrating #nationalbookloversday introvert style. Took a solo trip to the bookstore and having dinner with my books :)
Happy National Book Lovers Day! Or in Hemingway‘s case, National Bookmark Lover‘s Day...he loves bookmarks!
We had a great Litsy meet up today. Thanks to @Slajaunie for organizing and to @everlocalwest for the use of her absolutely wonderful bookstore (seriously, if you are ever anywhere near Denham Springs, LA, stop by Cavalier House Books. It was so awesome meeting all you wonderful Littens! @Slajaunie @everlocalwest @thevictoriousone @Zelma @jillannjohn @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled #lousianameetup #cavalierhousebooks
Road trip to meet Louisiana Littens!! Tagged book is the audiobook we are listening to during the drive. My husband likes it - I‘m on the fence so far...
#louisianameetup
#BOTMBACKLOG. @bookandcat I have so so many BOTM books to catch up on ...I am going to start with these four. It‘s so hard to catch up when I keep getting library holds coming in - I need to stay off the library site until I get some of my own books read 🤦♀️
Current read - this one reminds me of Donald Ray Pollack and Ron Rash. Dark, southern literature ...#currentread
Current situation. Fitness Junkie is the perfect book for reading by the pool #currentread
Today‘s plans...enjoying this one so far.
They had take your dog to the bookstore at Brazos Bookstore tonight! They even had episodes of Wishbone playing on the big screen. It was a fun night out! Munchie made some friends and of course I brought home some books!
Sitting in the doctors office waiting on my husband after his follow up appointment. He‘s doing well, back at home and we are adjusting to a new normal and making diet and exercise a priority to decrease his chances of another heart attack. Thanks for all the positive vibes! This book is the perfect light funny book I need at the moment. Several laugh out loud moments so far 😂
Leaving Alaska and flying home for good. My husband had a mild heart attack this weekend and he is doing well but I need to go take care of him for awhile! He‘s doing well enough that he sent our daughter back to the house to get his book! So nothing is holding my attention right now but this is accompanying me on the long flight back...
I am here for this one - not sure if it‘s a cozy mystery or comedy or what but as soon as I saw it I realized that this is my plan for today! 🤗
I loved this story about a small community in Appalachia. The characters will stick with me for a long time. 👍😍
Reading a story about Alaska while I‘m waiting for our water taxi to take us back to Homer. I‘m not quite sure about this book yet but I am enjoying the descriptions of Alaska.
