No Exit
No Exit: A Novel | Taylor Adams
A brilliant, edgy thriller about four strangers, a blizzard, a kidnapped child, and a determined young woman desperate to unmask and outwit a vicious psychopath. A kidnapped little girl locked in a strangers van. No help for miles. What would you do? On her way to Utah to see her dying mother, college student Darby Thorne gets caught in a fierce blizzard in the mountains of Colorado. With the roads impassable, shes forced to wait out the storm at a remote highway rest stop. Inside are some vending machines, a coffee maker, and four complete strangers. Desperate to find a signal to call home, Darby goes back out into the storm . . . and makes a horrifying discovery. In the back of the van parked next to her car, a little girl is locked in an animal crate. Who is the child? Why has she been taken? And how can Darby save her? There is no cell phone reception, no telephone, and no way out. One of her fellow travelers is a kidnapper. But which one? Trapped in an increasingly dangerous situation, with a childs life and her own on the line, Darby must find a way to break the girl out of the van and escape. But who can she trust? With exquisitely controlled pacing, Taylor Adams diabolically ratchets up the tension with every page. Full of terrifying twists and hairpin turns, No Exit will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you breathless.

“No Exit” by Taylor Adams was excellent—tense, twisty, and impossible to stop listening. The unique aspect of listening to audiobooks is that I don‘t always know how much time I have left in the book. Many times, I thought the story was nearing its end based on the unfolding events, but I was always pleasantly surprised by the unexpected twists and turns.

Good, easy read! It‘s jumps right in, is action packed, with a couple twists and turns I didn‘t see coming! The only downfall is how every single thing that could have gone wrong for Darby, did. Well. Minus one thing. (1)

#BuddyRead #TeamReindeerGamers #WinterGames. Well Shit! This book is making me angry. Now Darby is mistaken for the attackers and is killed for it? As Darby is fighting for her life, Jay keeps her awake and tells her to keep fighting. Darby wrote Asleys and his uncles so they could be caught. We know the cops arrived on his doorstep. This book kept me tense, and I thought for sure Darby had died. I am so glad she survived. Loved this thriller.

#BuddyRead #TeamReindeerGamers OMG 😲 This girl is so brave and smart. I can't believe what she did to get free! She kills Lars, Ashley figures out what she did. She has that spare bullet, but after she smells the gas everywhere, she realizes she can't fire that gun. So, again, the window. The place blows up, but I think she knows Asley is still alive. She tells Jay to run to the plow. Jay is safe, and Darby goes after Asley. 👇

As Darby walks in the truck stop, she sees Jay. What a relief. Ed seems to be friendly with the girl. Jay whispers to her not to trust the couple. Nothing is as it seems. She learns Jay has a medical condition. Supposedly, the brothers were to meet up with Uncle Kenny. I knew Darby should never have trusted anyone

#BuddyRead #TeamReindeerGamers #WinterGames. Sorry, team, about being a day late. I'll catch up today. Chap 10.18-11:07 Darby found a bullet in the van, and she studies the caliber. She mentions that she has a swiss army knife. She trusts Asley and decides to get him involved by slipping a note to him as she tells Asley what she found, I believe he is involved. There is something about the way he is acting. We learn more about Ed and his fear.👇

Quite disappointing. While I can get behind the main character, a woman with stellar survival instincts, the writing style had me rolling my eyes a bit too often. It felt like it was trying to be cinematic (lots of dramatic pauses, cuts to black, etc.), but didn‘t quite get there.
