#WinterGames24 #HolidayBookDragons #ShardlakeansBuddyRead #Adventathon #SeriesLove23 #SnikerdoodleSpiritReadathon #ReadAway24 #WinterSolticeReadathon Even though we are to read 1/2 this book this month I thought I would count the hours read for the Games and pts. So far, I am intrigued and can't wait for the discussion at the end of this month. @dabbe @Andrew65 @TheSpineView @BookmarkTavern @Bookwormjillk @DieAReader @StayCurious

This was definitely my favorite book I've read so far this month, and one of my favorites for the year. Even though Hattie is only 28, she's been widowed for 2 years and is struggling to run the Vermont inn that was her husband's dream, all while taking care of their young daughter. Meanwhile, 3 women (Erica, Claudia, and Anna) have been friends since college and always get together for a week every year. Now that they are all at or close to 40 ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) they're each experiencing that mid-life crisis of realizing you've done something for a couple decades and is that really what life is all about? Erica's the classic workaholic, Claudia's 10-yr relationship ended earlier that year, and Anna is about to become an empty-nester after her children being her driving focus for 18 years. When they come to stay at Hattie's inn, things all come into focus. This isn't a high-energy story, and ⬇ 11h
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) while there is a little bit of romance, this book is really just about these four women finding some new direction as they approach new seasons of life. It's done so well!! Sometimes I find Morgan's stories to feel a little thin because she always takes on multiple characters, but because there wasn't as much romance in this one, I felt like I got to spend a balanced time with all four of these characters and loved each of them! 11h
julieclair This sounds so good! Stacked! 7h
bookandbedandtea I loved this one too! And you've reminded me that I meant to read more of her books as this was my first one. 5h

It really wasn‘t as good as the first 1 which had a lot of world building & character development. This one now didn‘t need to set that up there could have been more action, trials, conflict, etc ESPECIALLY being written as a duology -I expected more. It‘s wasn‘t bad, but just kind of meandered.

This looked a promising thriller in the synopsis & I really enjoyed books set in/on isolated areas. I found this one a little underwhelming though. Although the idea is good, the POVs for Dee & Tori were not differentiated enough by their characters, & I had to keep checking who was narrating a particular chapter as it could have been either. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf I also found it a bit all over the place in terms of pacing & plot progression & it felt very haphazard at times. The 'team challenges' also seemed to take a back seat to general griping & sniping between characters. Disappointing. 2⭐

TWs: death, injury detail, drug use (minor references), strong language.

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Serpent's Tail/Viper/Profile Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

This was my bookclub's pick for the month and absolutely incredible! I'm really happy I listened to the audiobook, it kept me enthralled while I was working. Even over 16 hours long, I finished it in three sittings lol. I loved the Martian, and this had the same humor and math/science that was easy to follow. The jumps between timelines were really well done too. I can't wait to see how the movie adaptation turns out in 2026

OriginalCyn620 I really enjoyed this one too…didn‘t know it was being adapted! (edited) 1d
