About to dive in. Anyone else read #FinalGirls ?
Heartbreaking so far, but beautifully written.
House sitting for my best friend. Seemed fitting.
I‘m a little obsessed with this book cover. (It‘s a good read, too.)
Another fun post I created with coworkers at the work, for the library's Litsy page. Follow @StanCoLibrary for more behind the scenes library stuff, like these Wonder Woman cuffs, which just live in my office.
The conclusion of this series will not give you a perfectly wrapped up plot. It will not resolve all issues, answer all questions, ease all storyline induced pain. However, it is real and powerful and at the heart of this incredible novel full of excellent world building and well developed characters is a story that is in part an examination of relationships between mothers and daughters.
Hi Litsy! It's been awhile. I've been reading and working and spending too much on coffee, so I've been distracted. I have not forgotten you. To prove it, I return with an update: I loved this book. What a funny, honest, insightful look at the senate and political campaigns. I'm so glad he finally put out another book!
But what books do I bring??? (Other than the one I tagged, which is packed already.) #BookPeopleProblems #ClothesOrBooks
For a second book, this isn't a sophomore slump. As with the debut novel "Behind Closed Doors," the author was able to make me experience the main character's anxieties and worry that she is spiraling into madness. The author does one thing particularly well, in my opinion, but to elaborate might be considered a spoiler. A fun read in the psychological thriller genre.
I'm a fan of bookish memoirs, but what I enjoy about this book in particular is that it focuses less on the specific books the author has read, and is more an exploration of the aspects of the reading life. I didn't always relate, but for the most part, my neck was sore from all the nodding I did while reading this.
Waiting for @WatchMeMerp and reading while I wait. It's my version of "Whistle While You Work."
This memoir is so beautifully written and thought provoking...my brain is on overload from all I've read this weekend...there have been some very heavy hitters! I would much rather stay up reading this than go to sleep, but alas... I need to be functional for work tomorrow.
I am not sure I can fairly give a review, having finished this book only moments ago. There are problems with it, aspects of the created history I saw holes in or had a hard time believing, but it is definitely powerful. I'm going to have to sit and think about this one for awhile.
You guys, the library system I proudly use and work for is on Litsy! Follow @StanCoLibrary for behind the scenes library stuff, book recommendations, and the occasional appearance by my bobblehead collection. #LibrariesOfLitsy
Being lazy in this hotel bed with this hilarious book.
This book is definitely more haunting for me now than when I read it in high school.
The only time I ever read this was in high school. I had to annotate the ENTIRE BOOK and turn it in. I apparently have not looked at it since, as my grade was still inside on this lovely faded post-it. I'm not looking forward to seeing the reactions my 17 year old self had to this.
Book mail is the best mail. Please leave me here with my new book babies. (Is that weird? I have no point of reference anymore.)
When Shonda makes a Denny reference you weren't expecting😫😭 #StillTooSoon #GreysAnatomy #ThatJeffreyDeanMorganTho
"The accident that happened on a Tuesday, at or near IKEA." ? what am I even reading?
This book reminded me of the both novel "Rebecca" and the TV show "Dollhouse," while remaining a suspenseful story all on its own. A fun read for those who like a good mystery.
Soooo whoever had this library book before me ate it while eating cheetos...for two chapters. 😕
I really do love my job. #Library #VolunteerAppreciation #OnceUponATime #ThatBeanstalkLife
Have we talked about how I'm obsessed with this series?
This page just reminds me of my friend and Murakami fan @DianaLynnReads who first got me into Murakami. She insisted I read Norwegian Wood, and I've never regretted it.
I am really enjoying listening to audiobooks written and read by funny, clever women. Schumer's chapter about being an introvert has been one of the most relatable chapters I've come across recently.
This is what one does during a storm (let's be honest, the storm was over about an hour ago, but I'm pretending it's still ☔️ so I can feel "cozy" about my reading.)
One thing you need to know about me is that I don't usually like audiobooks: I'm a visual learner, so this isn't my medium. However, I have a thing for funny, talented people reading their memoirs. Oh my god this book is great. Kendrick is hilarious, insightful, thoughtful, and honest. I love her in movies and interviews, and on Twitter, but this gives you a sense of her depth. Read it and laugh till you look like this 🤣 #AudiobookWin
So far, the reading harder is going strong! @bookriot #ReadHarderChallenge
I can almost guarantee that whatever you have been TOLD about this book is only a small fraction of the reality of this book. For the first half of this book I had no idea what the hell was happening, and then the second half had me doubting what was happening. I'm not sure I always found that enjoyable, but I still liked it overall. Pick it up if you like thrillers.
I don't even know what the hell is happening in this book. (Also: hi Litsy! I'm back. I'm sorry I was away! Don't hate me.)
I too collect book boyfriends. (Please excuse my side note.) Fans of Everything, Everything will probably like this book. I enjoyed it, and it deals with mental health in an honest but humorous way. I was worried that being inside the head of someone with OCD was going to be triggering for me given my own past issues, but it really is true that people experience mental health problems in varied ways. I also loved Luke and Norah's relationship.
You know that feeling you get after watching Toy Story, where you suddenly feel bad/worried about abandoning your childhood toys? That's pretty much what this book was like, only now I'm worried about ignoring the messages of childhood fairy tales.
Is this like "accept the Juan you're given" @WatchMeMerp ?
