A reread from 2011 and a very good one at that. I‘d completely forgotten how it played out.

I loved this Agatha Christie classic that I hadn‘t yet read and somehow had avoided spoilers! Poirot investigates an old case involving an art monster, his wife and his muse. Great characters, mystery and gentle wit. Recommended.

Bk14 of my #BookMail is the last of my new Dame Agatha Special Editions & one of my favourites of her Poirot novels.Caroline Crale was convicted of poisoning her brilliant painter husband in an open & shut case. After her death her grown daughter receives a posthumous letter assuring her she was innocent. She hires Poirot to look into the cold case & find the truth through the memories of the people who were there that day. Perfect English mystery.

Cuilin One of my favorites too. 1y

I'm enjoying reading Christie's books in order in part because I can imagine her getting older and seeing the patterns and personalities and emotions of different ages from the perspective of age. She's always focused on character and motivation, but I find this book especially focused in that direction and in an interesting way. There may be one twist too many for my taste, but I like particularly her portrayal of the compromises of marriage.

Another Christie crossed off my #SeriesLove2023 list. This one was an interesting concept in that Poirot is asked to investigate a sixteen year old murder by talking with the five witnesses. I liked how this one was structured, with his investigation as well as the first hand accounts of each witness written out. Just when I thought I had it figured out, she threw me an extra twist at the end 😅

RaeLovesToRead You are in for a treat! 💕💕💕💕 The series is even better than the books!! David Suchet IS Poirot! (The Kenneth Brannagh films on the other hand... 😱😱😱😱😱) Earlier episodes are often shorter and have great supporting cast (Hugh Fraser as Hastings), and the later ones are usually feature length and beautifully filmed. 2y
peanutnine @RaeLovesToRead I did not know that Hugh Fraser plays Hastings!! I love his narration for the books! 🤩 (I also don't care for the Kenneth Brannagh films, although I usually love all his work) 2y

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView thanks a lot for the tag @Eggs !
1. I would say fast moving for modern authors, too many of them adopt the slow burn, too few of them are able to pull it off.
2.I think Agatha Christie's an absolute queen at plotting, tagged book is one of my favourites of hers, though there are so many that are wonderful.
These are fascinating questions, consider yourself tagged, everyone!!Would love recommendations for well plotted books.

TheSpineView Agatha Christie's books are well done! Thanks for playing! 3y

After her mom is convicted of killing her father, a girl is sent to live with relatives. On her 21st b-day, she's given a letter from her mom declaring her innocence. Now she must find the truth about what happened. Written in the 40s, compares with modern books. Christie weaves a tangled web of secrets & deceit, giving the reader all the clues they need to figure out who committed the crime while creating enough diversions to keep them guessing

This was an intriguing story from the beginning, though not immensely attentive. Who murdered the artist? What got me was the continuous sense of woman jealousy. Especially between wife and an upcoming mistress. It was interesting in the sense that this was Poirot looking into a 16 year old case, already closed. I really thought I had the case down, but at the last moment it was turned around. Once again Agatha got me. #AgathaChristie

This‘ll be my quick Sunday read today as I recover from my weekend vaccine dose. Not too bad so far, but I feel exhausted.
The second title of this book keeps throwing me off. Either way, I‘m getting why. Poirot has been asked to investigate a murder from 16 years ago from the daughter of the charged (and died in jail) to clear her name. She claims her mother innocent, that she didn‘t kill her husband. Five pigs, five suspects. #agathachristie

#121 of my year. I have yet to read this series and although I‘m starting it waaay out of order, it‘s all I had on hand so we will go with it lol I‘m listening to So Done by The Kid LAROI 🖤

Caffeinated_Reader Wow that was exciting. I loved the language of the book and how proper everyone was. I sometimes wish I grew up back then when everyone dressed up and was so kind and intelligent with one another but yeah I would miss wearing pants too much without causing a scandal sooooo probably wouldn‘t last long back then lol I definitely want to read the rest of this series. It‘s so smart and well put together. 4y

Quick and easy read. I admit I wasn't as captivated by this mystery as I have been by other Christie novels but it was still entertaining all the same. I found myself half right at the end with who I thought did it. I think I prefer the Poirot books when a murder has just happened instead of in this one where Poirot investigates a murder several years in the past.

This is a fun one where Poirot investigates a crime from 16 years prior - with suspects narrowed to five ‘little pigs‘ as the rhyme keeps playing in his head. I liked the structure and how each person interviewed adds bits to the overall story. Poirot always spots the important bits even when people‘s memories are blurry. Or they are lying. Lots of feminist zingers especially in regard to cheating husbands.

I love Agatha Christie mysteries and don‘t spend enough time reading/rereading them! This was the first time I‘ve read Five Little Pigs. It did not disappoint! Hercule Poirot solved a murder that occurred 16 years ago, and he did it with his usual panache. The ending was quite satisfying although somewhat ambiguous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

So the BEST thing happened when I was rereading this classic by Agatha Christie: I misremembered the ending! So the whole time, I thought I knew who did it but was still enjoying the ride, but then at the end I got that genuine surprise when Poirot revealed the solution. Another enjoyable listen. I think I only have one more nursery rhyme themed mystery to go. A painter is poisoned, and his wife is convicted of the murder, but the daughter is unconvinced and goes to Poirot for help. This case is unusual as it is re-investigated 16 years after the crime. Poirot narrows down the suspects to “five little pigs.” I was sure I had this one figured out but I guessed wrong.

batsy I like this one, too. And I found it to be one of the more memorable episodes in the David Suchet Poirot series 🙂 7y
