These stories read like fairy tales by way of Golden Age British middle-class sensibilities: Parker Pyne is a portly fairy godmother who solves ALL of your problems. Well, all except for the one of the discontented husband! These are Christie‘s psychological stories with a twist. Some are enjoyable, some are OK; all are mostly forgettable fluff.

I continue to make my way through the #agathachristieclub reads in chronological order, & this surfaced as one of the Christies I don't think I've read before. It's a standalone mystery--no Marple, Poirot, or Tommy & Tuppence--& it's pretty fun. Irreverent, lively, with a fizz & zest about it as befitting a novel featuring amateur detectives of the "bright young things" era. However, the mystery itself was a bit of a dud & did nothing for me.

This was outstanding 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻A true who-done-it! And the audio narration was brilliant. Plenty of twists and red herrings kept me on my toes. Even when I solved the crime, I was second guessing myself. So glad to have picked up this classic for #AAM @Soubhiville
Which book should I listen to next?? Should I stick with the Poirot series???

I'm still making my way through the #agathachristieclub in a leisurely fashion! Whenever I want something light & easy I pick one up & I think with this one we're moving into a phase where she published some of her better books. It's been ages since I read this; it's a fun read but with a pretty abrupt ending. It lends itself better to adaptations because of the large cast of characters & exotic setting. Feel like watching the Lumet version now 🙂

I'm continuing on with the #agathachristieclub where I left off. This is a collection of stories about the strange & supernatural. The standout from this is "The Witness for the Prosecution" which deviates from the general spooky theme. My first time reading the story—an excellent example of a tightly-constructed mystery short with a twist. The rest of the stories here often have potential & eerie atmosphere but fall short with silly endings. ⬇️

This was my last #agathachristieclub read before I'll take a break for the #agathachristieclubR2 revamp, and it was a good one! This is one of the few that I remembered the solution, but that didn't spoil my enjoyment. @Bambolina_81

This is my 5th Agatha Christie book in the last couple of years. This one was more complicated than I thought it would be, & I enjoyed the mystery. Poirot‘s rivalry with Giraud cracked me up. Thinking of joining in the #agathachristieclub.
This is book 5 during #summersendreadathon. Not sure how many more physical books I will get to because I have to actually be productive the rest of this week. I‘ll be able to do audiobooks though.
