As a musician, I feel seen. 😄🎺🎶
“Dixie‘s voice warbled from bass to soprano, replete with all the outraged disbelief of Lady Bracknell at her most handbageous.”

My final book of the #24in48 readathon! I liked this Golden Age mystery and thought the plot was very clever. It‘s interesting that the book focuses far more on the detectives than on the victim and suspects; I would have liked those characters to be a little more fleshed out. But a good read overall!
I found this book, frankly, adorable! There are a lot of disparate plot lines, which sometimes annoys me in novels...and I do wish some of the stories had gotten a little bit more fleshed out...but overall, it‘s just very charming and sweet! The perfect way to end day one of the #24in48 readathon.
It‘s always a pleasure to spend some time in 12th-century Shrewsbury with Brother Cadfael! That‘s my second book completed for the #24in48 readathon.
Just finished my first book of the #24in48 readathon! It‘s a fun fantasy novel that involves knitting, technology as magic, and a revolution...I enjoyed it overall but thought it had a little too much going on.
Prepping my book stack for the #24in48 readathon this weekend. Can‘t wait to dig in! 📚😁
“Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. Don‘t you think? It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world‘s greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see.”
“Great music has much the same effect upon humans as cyanide. . . . It paralyzes the respiratory system.”
So I‘m actually kind of burned out on YA fantasy...they‘re all starting to seem the same to me. But this retelling of Beauty and the Beast is really fantastic! I‘m actually not quite done yet, but 75% of the way in, I‘m super invested in both Yeva and the Beast and dying to see how everything will turn out! I‘m reading a library book but might need to get my own copy of this one!
Got this one in a subscription box that a friend gifted me for Christmas. I liked the story of this YA fantasy, but I found the main character super frustrating and HATED the overly flowery writing style!

I adored Naomi Novik‘s Uprooted, so I was simultaneously very excited about this book and worried that it couldn‘t possibly live up to my very high expectations. Happily, I was wrong — this book is AMAZING! A bit slow to get going, but once it does, it‘s completely enchanting. This will definitely be one of my top books of the year!
