I‘ve seen this series for years but hadn‘t picked up the first book until last week. I‘m disappointed with myself for having waited so long. #ILoveCozies

Since completing my courses I‘ve had a lot of leisure reading to catch up on. I‘d abandoned my books, especially cozies. I‘m getting back into them and started with this one. There‘s something about the main character that I don‘t always like, but she sorts that out eventually. Otherwise, I quite liked this one, and it‘s quirky characters. #ILoveCozies
I‘m nearly done the audiobook and have included it onto my short list of books that should be required reading by all.
While this one is specific to North America (mostly US), there are similar traditions/philosophies regarding how humans can have a symbiotic relationship with the Earth throughout the world.
Also, the audiobook is read by the author.
I said I would try to keep up here more this year and I‘ve pretty much already failed at that. 🤪
I‘ve just started listening to this one. Angie Thomas‘s The Hate U Give still sits with me every day, and the narration is also still one of my favourites. I didn‘t make it through her next book, but have high hopes for this one.
With only one course left for my certificate I‘m hoping to get back to reading for pleasure a bit more. I‘ve decided that this is the first read for 2021 and am loving it.
It‘s listed as Fantasy but definitely set in a real historical period.
It always surprises me to be reading a book when suddenly your genuine calendar day is also theirs.
1. Mashed carrots and neeps
2. Cuban, Italian, Pub Grub, and Thai
3. Yes, mostly music industry folk, some I met prior to their fame, some actors, and athletes (almost all of these became famous after, some I babysat hahah)
4. I‘ve not been reading much of late, in a bit of a slump.
#friyayintro
I‘ve been home on holiday, so imagine my surprise when there was a card in the post box to go pick up a parcel. I get myself there, only to be handed this.
#SteepedInStories
Right, well hopefully this time my #PoutineAndPaperbacks selection gets to you @DebbieGrillo
@CouronneDhiver I received your card (as seen above), thank you and I‘m sure you‘ll offer an amazing pick again. (No pressure though).
@TheKidUpstairs I‘m nearly done the last #steepedinstories then I‘ll do the off cycle book and send it off.
(It‘s called Reflections of Norway by Ink Circles - what I‘m working until the rest of the last one is ready)
I can‘t believe we‘re already on our last books for #SteepedinStories 😢
Just look at all that tea and M&S ginger snaps (how @TheKidUpstairs knew they‘re my fav is beyond me).
This is @MPick selection, and can I just say - what a first line!
Okay, so @MPick I put @BookishTrish selection in the post to you, should have it Mon/Tues
Also, @CouronneDhiver Thomas is on his way home, and @DebbieGrillo my pick for #PoutineandPaperbacks is on it‘s way
After much deliberation, and an arm@injury from stitching (who knew you could hurt yourself performing passive crafts?) I have decided on a book for #PoutineAndPaperbacks Round 3.
So, the photo is of the offending stitching project (which I‘m completely in love with and that‘s probably why I‘m hurt - stitching 12 hour days on end).
P.S. I couldn‘t tag anyone
My heart smiles because of this book. Thank you @CouronneDhiver for selecting it. You always pick such amazing books. And to my other #PoutineandPaperbacks mates @DebbieGrillo and @TheKidUpstairs for sharing your thoughts, ideas, and books these past two rounds. I thought I‘d had a pretty varied book selections but you‘ve opened my world even further. 💗
I‘m on the bus and forgot my #poutinsandpaperback book. So, for all and sundry, here is a gratuitous photo of Percy, laying about.
I received @BookishTrish #SteepedinStories selection from @TheKidUpstairs
That‘s a heck of a packet of Yerba Mate mi amiga. Also, I completely agree that some Earl is a must occasionally.
I‘ll definitely be putting @TheKidUpstairs selection in the post by Friday @MPick so be on the lookout for it early next week.
Look at what @TheKidUpstairs sent with the first round of #SteepedInStories
That book shaped infuser is so cool, can‘t wait to try these teas with it.
Your selection has been on my TBR for so long, I can wait to read it.
I meant to post this on Friday; @MPick the #SteepedInStories is on the way. I sent you an email as there was some debate with Canada Post about your address. 🤔
@TheKidUpstairs @BookishTrish
I completely forgot to post this on Friday. @CouronneDhiver I‘ve sent the #PoutineAndPaperbacks and you should be getting it early in the week.
Sorry that it‘s upside-down. There was a queue at the postal outlet.
@TheKidUpstairs @DebbieGrillo
1. While working (except when reading or writing documents, then I listen to music)
2. So far, exclusively through library services. Mostly Overdrive, sometimes Libby (I now it‘s the same company now, but I prefer Overdrive), or Hoopla, but those seem to be mostly mainstream.
3. Usually sped up, unless it‘s someone whose voice I love to hear
4. So many! Lorelei King and David Suchet
5. I struggle picking favourites in anything
#audiobookinquiry
If anyone is looking for a long #audiobook, this one is almost 56.5 hours (in 52 parts).
That‘s a heck of a biography.
1. Lately I've read a lot books set in and around London, UK and that's piqued my interest. The latest one was Licensed to Quill
2. Glen Nevis
3. Iceland, Faroe Islands, Shetlands (Nordic countries generally)
4. Usually both. Fly there, then hire a car.
5. Why limit ourselves to one? Though, I did have some choice Gelato in Budberg, Germany.
#ManicMonday (this is probably the least manic thing I've done today 😉)
Thanks for the tag @minkyb 😁

I haven't been on much in the past few days, so just taking a shot in the dark:
@Wife
#GettingToKnowYou
Finished #audiostitching the first panel on row three while Since I haven't shown an update on the project as a whole in some time, I thought I'd do it now. It's going to get progressively harder to photograph this 😂
All done. Next time, I'm taking a better look at the pattern first. #quarterstitchesareapain
#audiostitching
Most of my stitching projects are pretty massive. So, with this crappy week, like many, I need a little good. I went and kitted up some new large projects but also picked up this guy. #audiostitching
Thanks @brilliantglow for the tag. tried to fit a paperback into the spread, but it didn't work. I need better skills
1. Butler and Percy (paperback is the linked book)
2. 5 years, and week away from 2 years
3. Butler will only let me carry him like a loaf of bread resting on my forearm. Percy will calm if I sing him the Skye Boat Song
4. I don't know who has been tagged so far, so taking a shot here @emily_m_tubb
#PetsAndPaperbacks
Have been listening to The Jane Austen Project for the #LitsyBookClub and it has compelled me to do something I've vowed I wouldn't do, read an Austen book. Admittedly, my judgement on the stories are based on other media, and based on that I've picked the one story I could sort of get behind. So this is completely #BlameItOnLitsy #150PnPCoverParty
The book beneath is a candidate for #LMPBC #GroupW that I also purchased #bookhaul
Not sure if this is a good topic for #audiostitching but it does fulfill the #TrueCrimeClassic prompt for #muderinos #mfm #ssdgm
I forgot to check at #Hour42Challenge so a little late with #CoverMe #24in48 #24in48readathon
I have quite a few lovely and not so lovely covers, so tried to pull two that were less likely to be used by others. Although, I did buy The Scent of Death because of the cover.
I've completed the 24 hours, and now I'm going to go play with the GPP. #24in48 #24in48readathon
Keeping with the audiobook train, taking on the last quarter of the #24in48 #24in48readathon
Also, this one is also one of my #MountTBR books. I'd had this one hold since September. I'm so relieved to finally get to it.
I have so many books that I don't know where the first is versus the last. So I've decided to go with the oldest and newest on my cozy mystery shelves. #Hour36Challenge #literalbookends #FirstAndLast #24in48 #24in48readathon
Starting day two of #24in48readathon #24in48 with an audiobook. I've been remiss with the #audiostitching since October, and the few books I started yesterday required more concentration than I can give at the moment.
I bought these two books as part of my starter Book of the Month package back in 1988. I couldn't decide which to use for the #Hour30challenge #sharetheshame challenge but reckon Generation of Swine probably takes it since I did try to read Koko every few years. #24in48 #24in48readathon
Calling it for today. I have to say I'm thankful for audiobooks or I wouldn't have made it to the midpoint. #24in48readathon #24in48
Set book two aside while I change the GPP enclosure's bedding. There's more about god in this than would have liked. Hopefully they get on with more details about the actual canal soon, but I'm guessing this one won't meet my expectations. #24in48readathon
On to book number two in the #24in48readathon
This was a completely 'judged by the cover' buy. Hopefully, the funds weren't misplaced.
Finally had time to pick out my (ambitious) stack for #24in48readathon
Just about to start, let's see if I make it.
I did not realize that municipalities also follow the two party model that the state and federal elections in the US. I'm learning a lot from this book.
@DebbieGrillo The last secret #LMPBC #GroupW is now in the post. She said two business days, so let me know if you haven't received it by say Wednesday or Thursday. (It should be there by Tuesday, but I don't know if I believe the two business day business).
Are we considering continuing this? Perhaps adding folk? I'm not sure how that works once we're done. I'm actually surprised that I was okay defacing books. 😜
Setting aside this and a few other books to get @TheKidUpstairs #LMPBC #GroupW selection read and on its way to @DebbieGrillo
Thank you @CouronneDhiver for the chocolate 🙂
Today's #LitsyPartyofOne book. It also applies to #MountTBR and #Booked2018 #UnconventionalRomance
My aunt's name is Fleurette and when she was in elementary school she stopped using it and went with the Flo(rette) because everyone spelt it incorrectly. Just as the character of the same name in this tale, she was frustrated by people misspelling her name. I'm going to have to tell her that others complained about her problem long before she was even born.
#litsypartyofone
Taking the weekend to read as the next month will not be kind to my reading desires. Perfect weekend for #LitsyPartyofOne and getting the #LitsyBookClub read. With any luck I'll be able to finally join one of the discussions. It also works toward my #MountTBR count.
1. I'm not a Cheetos fan, but I vaguely recall yellow ones when I was young and those I didn't mind.
2. Ragged Company by Richard Wagmese
3. #LitsyPartyofOne , finally setting up my printer, cooking for next week's lunches, spending time with the GPP
4. Speak every language. We can communicate with animals anyway.
5. I was weird and had one major with two minors (Celtic Studies and History) focus on Conflicts (military & otherwise)
#friyayintro
Just received the next #round of #TheCanadianTour
This one was lovingly curated by @BookishTrish
I'm looking forward to learning a lot with this one. I know nothing about this subject - so exciting!
#CanadaGoesPostal
Oh, and look at this paper and magnetic bookmark @Jazzper2 picked out 🕊
I neglected to take a photo of the parcel, but it's definitely on its way @TheCanuckReader
They tell me it should be there in 6-ish business days. #TheCanadianTour #CanadaGoesPostal
Oh crap. I forgot to include the letter...again. 😳
Since I've already read the few sports books I own, I decided to go the #audiobook route for the #OlympicSport prompt of the #Booked2018 challenge. He uses some expressions that made me laugh out loud a few times.
My first #audiobook of 2018 doubles as my first entry in the #ssdgmchallenge for the Agatha Christie Novel prompt. I must say, I was spoiled with Suchet's narration of Murder on the Orient Express. Not that Penelope Dellaporta is not good, she's just not Poirot.
#murderino #ssdgm #mfm
Starting the year with finishing the #TheCanadianTour selection, and searching for inexpensive recipes to put a cookbook together for my niece who has moved out for the first time today. Both she and her boyfriend are college students, so I figured this is a good start along with her favourites that my mum makes. (I'm adding a mac &a cheese only section too - some less healthy than others). Maybe they won't notice there's no meat.
