This book was deliciously terrible. The writing was inconsistent, the obsession with shopping was weird (and was that word even used in the early 1800s?!) and the plot was predictable. But it was delicious. Perfect fluff for summer.

Definite pick!
Jane Austen she is not, but Odiwe did a nice job continuing the story of Marianne, Brandon, and Willoughby, a few years after S&S left them, with the addition of a grown-up story for Margaret. I missed Elinor, was frustrated with Marianne‘s regression, the Brandons behavior toward each other and with Willoughby‘s behavior in general, but I had also moments of ‘omg John Willoughby is a sexy beast.‘ 🤷🏻♀️
Addictive fun!

Oh my gosh this book was so guilty pleasure for me! There definitely things that I did not like, like not enough Elinor and Marianne and Brandon were sort of frustrating, but I couldn‘t stop reading! I needed to know what was going to happen between Margaret and Henry. And every time Willoughby showed up I got stressed because he‘s such a jerk! I loved it and recommend to any Sense and Sensibility fan.
While Willoughby has definitely returned, this book seems more about Margaret Dashwood to me, and I‘m cool with that!
Marianne and Brandon are annoying me with their inability to communicate openly, and Marianne is showing a lot of her old sensibility.
Margaret is basicially Marianne 2, and there is something not at all straightforward going on with Henry and his French girl.
But LA! Anne Steele is still in pursuit of beaux! 😂

Summer school done for the week!!! Ended with a rousing, hilarious, game of “Would You Rather.” Time for Marianne‘s rather narcissistic world.

Seems almost like Marianne has regressed in some ways. Only on ch.5 but she is not likable! Margaret seems more mature.

As you can see, I am only 10% in. I ended up buying the book for my kindle; otherwise shipping times seemed to be too long.
It seems that Marianne has matured with marriage and motherhood, but the smitten Colonel indulges her. She is troubled by his devoted relationship to Eliza & Lizzie, but hesitates to discuss this with him. Taking Margaret shopping & scheming about a match is occupying her day.
I‘m invested in this story now... once I got past/used to the things that were annoying me (I know that nobody writes just like Jane, but all of those inner thoughts in quotations were making me crazy), I found that I‘m very much interested in seeing what happens!
I will post my thoughts in the comments.
What does everyone think so far?
@Andrew65 is hosting #JubilantJuly readathon starting this Saturday. These are my goals. Come join in the fun!
Finally starting this today! #pemberlittens
Today‘s the day! I‘m pretty excited about this book because I tend to do better with continuations rather than retellings.
Anyone else starting this #BuddyRead today?
#PemberLittens
For those (like me) who can‘t wait to see what happens when THIS JERK returns... a buddy read of this intriguing JA fanfic. 😃
Tagging the #PemberLittens who have said they might want to join me, but everyone is welcome!
Will this schedule work? I‘m open to changes if needed. Also, do we want to discuss on a weekly Litsy post on Sundays, starting 7/12, or do you prefer Slack or Goodreads?
I‘m planning to read this one in July... tagging the people I noticed were interested in it as well, in case you want to buddy read! #PemberLittens

I‘ve been home on holiday, so imagine my surprise when there was a card in the post box to go pick up a parcel. I get myself there, only to be handed this.

I have an affinity for books that try to continue or retell classics. For Austen, there are a ton, especially for P&P, but I haven't seen a S&S continuation before, which made this a TBR and it fulfills my first letter on my #LitsyAtoZ for #LetterW. I ended up rooting for both Brandon and Willoughby at times, knowing how Marianne loves them both deeply in different ways. I wished there'd been more Elinor but this was Marianne's continued story.
