pickI really enjoyed this book, but calling it even a loose adaptation of S&S is a stretch. True, it centers on two sisters with a deceased father (the elder sister is the oddest Elinor/Marianne hybrid and the younger is vaguely Elinorish) but that's pretty much it on the similarities. I wound up liking it a lot, and if YA is your bag, this one is a lovely coming-of-age story. But #PemberLittens, beware! There's not much of the Dashwood about it.

Watched these two adaptations over the last two evenings and I truly love both. I had forgotten Anna Madeley (Mrs. Hall of All Creatures Great & Small) was Miss Lucy Steele. Maybe the 2008 3 episode series has a slight edge since it has more content than 1995 film.

I was trying to think of General Discussion Questions for 'Now' books. And this is the main one. Add Zombies or set in Space as long as it maintains the spirit.
What does bug me is when Author doesn't do their research. Things like I'll just pop down to bookstore and buy a 1st edition of Pride& Prejudice.

My second #Roll100 pick for February (#60 Any Retelling) & also read for #Pemberlittens #JaneAustenThenAndNow after reading Sense and Sensibility in January. I enjoyed the first book of the Jane AustenMurder Mysteries which was a retelling of Pride and Prejudice but I liked this one even more! The author kept the soul of the characters but putting them into a mystery setting where the Dashwood sisters try to solve the ⬇️
