Here‘s my March recap. It was a great reading month & I finished 23 books! (Including 5 audiobooks, 19 fiction, 4 NF, many genres, several children‘s & classics)

I read for #SundayBuddyRead #NancyDrewBR #BobWhiteBuddies #EBBR #AuthorAMonth #ChildrensClassicRead2025 #SheSaid #RiseUpReads #JaneAustenThenAndNow #BookedInTime #FoodAndLit #Roll100 #ThematicCozies #FictionalTraveler #MonthlyNonFiction #SeriesLove2025 & #AuldLangSpine #SeriesLove2025 ⬇️

DebinHawaii …My favorites of the month were The Frozen River, Nettle and Bone, Kills Well With Others, Not That Bad, All Systems Read & Pride and Prejudice (reread for the zillionth time) & The Great Gatsby (hadn‘t read since high school) was a surprise winner. Lots of series books too—including both the 1940 & 1976 versions of our monthly Nancy Drew title. (edited) 4d

A take on P&P that involves taking the public domain original text and adding to it. I loved a lot of the artwork and often clever changes to make things futuristic (as well as making Lydia and Mary more tolerable).

I was less sure about some of the PoV changes, and I struggled with some of the historic tone and original sensibilities juxtaposed against the space setting and more modern-sounding additions, which was sometimes a bit jarring.

Crinoline_Laphroaig Life has gotten in thw way. Haven't got read yet but I'm looking forward to it. 2d

1. Reread...I have no idea how many times 😂. I used to read it yearly! My viewpoint hasn't changed. I love it every time.
2. Elizabeth. She's still my girl.
3. How do I pick?! The first proposal, the meeting at Pemberly, the walk where they finally come to an understanding.
@Crinoline_Laphroaig #JaneAustenThenandNow

staci.reads 4. “I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me.” - such a great lesson for all women

staci.reads Also "The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.” - it just seems more relevant now than ever ? 1w
staci.reads 5. Definitely deal with a cold
6. Caroline...I'd love to spar with her.
7. Hmm...I have to say Willoughby, but they are pretty much the same person.
8. Elizabeth, Darcy, and Aunt Gardiner. What an intelligent and witty conversation it would be!
9. There's a reason it's one of the most adapted books of all time!

It never loses its shine. I have read it more times than I can count, but every time, I still feel all the feels as Elizabeth and Darcy find their way to each other. This reread was no different. #JaneAustenThenandNow @Crinoline_Laphroaig

#PemberLittens I'm going far into the 'Now' for April. Super excited for this! It's such a gorgeous book.

I'm also going to have a look through my Kindle and Audiobooks. I have a ton of them on my TBR and I'm always adding more.

Well dang. From the cover and size, I was expecting a graphic novel. It does have pictures and visual ephemera but is mostly of the “take a public domain work and add something weird to it“ subgenre and that's just not my thing. Seeing Austen's actual words mixed up with new ones bugs me.

#Read2025

For #Pemberlittens #JaneAustenThenAndNow

1. Reread, I‘m not sure how many times as I read it at least every 2 years, often every year… maybe 30? Format: started with the purple beauty, read mostly on my Kindle & finished with the Classics Reimagined version this weekend. I don‘t think my viewpoint has changed too much except for more sympathy for Mary over the years.

2. Elizabeth of course! 💜 Darcy by the end.😉

3. Elizabeth ⬇️

DebinHawaii … going toe-to-toe with Lady Catherine. Such badassery!
4. So many favorite quotes but “and I could easily forgive HIS pride, if he had not mortified MINE.” Is just perfection
5. Ride in the rain & catch a cold & recover at Netherfield Park
6. Dinner with Caroline to see what she‘d wear. Plus I think the food would be better-I feel like Lady C would not have her food seasoned well! 🤷🏻‍♀️ ⬇️
1w
DebinHawaii … 7. It‘s close, but Wickham is worse for me.
8. A girl‘s tea with Lizzy, Jane & Mrs. Gardiner. 🫖 No to Mr. & Mrs. Bennet & Mr. Collins.
9. I watched the 1995 series once this month & 2005 twice (it‘s shorter!). While I get the appeal of Matthew Macfadyen, Colin Firth is forever my Darcy.💜
1w
Crinoline_Laphroaig I'm planning a daylong binge of 1995. #DateWithMrDarcy‼️😍 1w

Keeping it reasonable for my April #PemberLittens reading! I've never read Longbourn (!) so it's time, and I can't wait for Jane Austen's Bookshelf. I loved Price's funny S&S mystery so I'm glad to be reading what came before it and Bellezza/Harding's Emma adaptation was so clever that I bought the tagged book the instant it was released. I waited a long time to read it but now seems like the perfect moment, as a kickoff to a month of adaptations.
