Final two.
Which would you prefer for #LMPBC #ROUND12 #GroupW?
Either works for me. I‘m hoping for a creepy and spooky good time. 👻

I have so many perfectly fine, sad abandoned books because I get easily distracted (squirrel!) So I'd like to join in on March's #BookSpin
Such a fun idea.
Books are numbered 1-20, left to right, top to bottom. They include a mishmash of paperbacks, hard covers, ebooks, and audio books that I have owned for at least a year; many much longer than that.

Some of the books from my book stacks with an #umbrella ☂️or two ☂️☂️on their covers. I have read all of them except for "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" (I'll get to it one of these days) ?????? & the free Audible Original "Lucky Suit."
A fun and creepy novel about a possible reincarnation with an ending that wasn't what I expected!
Which should I read next?
Update: First I‘ll read By Book or by Crook, then Yesternight. I need something lighter after The Graveyard Apartment.😔
4⭐️ Prepare to be creeped out at times, have your belief on reincarnation challenged (or supported) at times, and guessing on this book up til the end. In which you will say “That did not just happen!!” I‘m coming to admire Cat Winters as an author. She writes the unexpected and no plot is sacred because it will change on a dime. Her post war settings lend to such great themes in spiritualism, feminism, and post war acclimation back to society.
Well, this was a pleasant surprise - I mean super creepy surprise! Very atmospheric 1920s setting with a plucky & unreliable narrator making her way in a man‘s field - where the potential reincarnation stories of a young girl bring some folks together to work through their shit, tackle supernatural ideas & blow my/their socks off. Cat Winters is a master of keeping me wondering what is real, who might be crazy, and what forces are (maybe) at work.
Day 9 #emojinov #☔️ I went with books from my stacks with umbrellas 🌂 or in some cases parasols ☂️on the cover for today's prompt. Here's six--there were more I found but when you collage more than six books, it's hard to see the covers well. I read all of these and enjoyed some much more than others. Interesting 'matchy-matchy' feel of the first two vertical pairs of covers. 🤔☔️🌂☂️
This is a pretty decent Halloween read if you want something historical, mysterious, creepy and a little bit supernaturally...
A lot of things I couldn't get behind. I'd be okay with a different era
Seems like I just visited some of these for a recent post. I love cover art that displays subjects facing away -- mostly walking. And if I can match the image with a scene, that's the icing on the cake.
#MarchIntoReading #TheBacksOfWomen
I really didn't know what to expect for this prompt. I was hoping for these type posts. But, being National Women's Month, it could have also had a deeper meaning relating to the struggle.
#BookishConfession: I'm drawn to book covers that show the back view of a subject. Might be the idea of "walking away." Could be "going toward ..." It started with "A Cup of Tea," which, when I looked closely, shows the character facing forward. Maybe it's the silhouette for that one.
I've read "A Cup of Tea," "Balm," and "The Dispatcher."
"Yesternight" and "Lazarus" are next.

Wow.. just wow. Yesternight was an excellent book. Great characters, great plot, great ending... I recommend it for those who are interested in self-realization and exploring the unknown. #library #1925 #psychology #reincarnation
Ready for a mystery/thriller after all the fantasy I have been reading #librarybook
Yeahhhh!!!! I'm going to get this! It was yesterday. Celebrated at work today.
#TBRtemptation post! From the author of "The Unvited", this historical paranormal mystery may set one at unease. 1925, coastal Gordon Bay, Oregon. Alice Land, child psychologist. Janie O'Daire, 7-Year-old math genius. With the memories of a Violet from Kansas & drowning at 19. With her professional reputation at stake as a rare female in the field, Alice pursues the puzzle. Her own life will change in the process. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
This beautiful book also sounds extremely interesting. #JudgeABookByItsCover
Dreamt I to-day the dream of yesternight,
Sleep ever feigning one evolving theme,—
Of my two lives which should I call the dream?
—George Santayana, “Sonnet V,” 1896
#AllHallowsRead #scaryread I loved my reread of We Have Always Lived in the Castle and listening to Coraline & The Night Sister on audio. Roses and Rot was excellent and I have read some great somewhat scary thrillers too, but for the perfect spooky atmosphere and an eerie paranormal plot, I am making Yesternight my pick for #favoritescarybook. Read it on a stormy night with a cup of tea and a blanket to combat the shivers.😱
Really liked this. I just love Cat Winters. It was the perfect Halloween read.
Creepy shit, and it kept me guessing.
It's been awhile since I read a book I could not put down. I could not put down this book. Read by Xe Sands, it is mesmerizing, due to not just her magic voice, but the story as well. Perfect for this time of year, I say grab it and hold on tight. It's a wild ride.
Finally, a book has grabbed me by the nose hairs.
This one took some turns I didn't really see coming. Interesting look at reincarnation and how the past lives of a few of the characters (not just the main one discussed in the synopsis) bled into their present and how that effected their lives in some frightening ways. It also dealt with the double standards educated women at the time faced. I ended up not really liking most of the characters, but still a good creepy read. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
My first book from this author but I'm sure not my last. Good spooky, tension-building historical mystery perfectly suited to read on a dark October night. Great creepy tone & atmosphere, interesting characters & reincarnation premise, plot twists-even a strange child & old hotel to add to the gothic feel. Paired on my blog book tour review w/Crispy French Toast Fingers & Blueberry-Maple Sauce (link in comments below) 😱#spookyoctober #yesternight
Gratuitous non-book kitty picture. Max is enjoying the remaining minutes of sunlight and his supervised 'yard time' on the glass table on the lanai. He may look relaxed but he is carefully guarding the patio from geckos. Now if I can just get him inside so I can go back to my book. #catsoflitsy #littenkittens #guardcat 🐱❤️
A mesmerizing, can't put down read that compels you to keep turning pages. Alice is a whip smart leading lady, and Janie is a puzzle waiting to be solved... then again, aren't we all? The unexpected sinister twist towards book's end will take you by surprise... and keep you looking over your shoulder for a good while.
It's still 80 degrees F. and 70% humidity but I am channeling a crisp October evening-eerie historical mystery, cup of cinnamon apple tea, a few cookies, ...and the air conditioning on full blast. You gotta do what you gotta do... 🍁🍂🍃🍁🍂😱 #settingthemood
Day1 #booktober #mostanticipated I have a whole stack of books for October, so here's my five most anticipated--from the top down: the two review reads, the prize book, the #BOTM, and the library book that I'm currently most excited about. Doesn't mean I'll read them first or that I'm not excited about the others (I don't want the rest of my TBR books to feel bad about themselves!) 😆but I'm just EXTRA excited to read these! ❤️📚❤️
And there was good #bookmail this week. These are all for October & November blog book tours. I really like all of these covers--great jewel colors. Inheriting Edith sounds like women's fiction/generational friendship, Deliver Her sounds like mystery/troubled teen/secrets & Yesternight sounds like spooky historical & it's set in Oregon (old stomping grounds) Adding to the TBR stacks❤️📚 #williammorrowpublishing #lakeunionpublishing #tlcbooktours
I like the premise of this novel, which takes place in the 1920s in Oregon. Looks like it could be creepy. Involves past lives, a woman psychologist, and a rural setting.
