I am nearly done with this one, and even though it isn't her normal content, I thought it was amazing. The lore and world building took a minute, and it started a bit choppy; but it's a great story and I am invested!

I loved this book! It was interesting and thought provoking. You feel for the characters- all of them. Anuri's road to claiming her own life and likeness is wild and often painful. I loved how they did this.

Oh my goodness this book was so much fun! I seriously could not put it down- even when part of it made me a crying mess. I mean, what's not to love? We have a stand alone LBGT slowburn romance with the grumpy/sunshine trope. It has a penguin napping, horrid exes, ALL the baking puns, an ice queen with hilarious sass and sarcasm for days. Comes out February 7th.

I was lucky enough to meet this author, as she's local to my area. This book is adorable. It does take place in 1984-85, as we are going to be growing up with Celeste through three books. It has a lot of strong, unique characters that support one another, puppy love, and a talking mouse... what's not to love? I loved Celeste for her warmth. She's awkward, shy, but loyal. With heart and humor, Celeste and Co. take on the bullies of the area.

Garabrandtreviews Correction on amount of books. The seller was wrong when I talked to them. Seven or more books 10mo

I want to love this book. The time travel aspect is amazing, Aimee is a fabulous character, the writing is good.... I just can't get into it and it's due back at the library soon. I feel silly that one of my major complaints is that there are Korean words and dishes, but no glossary. Appa will say something and Aimee will reply in English leaving you to guess. It's usually pretty easy, but especially with the ebook, a glossary would help

I am so excited this one was re-published today. Why? The Blooms Books edition paperback has illustrations! Some are a little spicy but they are all adorable! The paperback copies of the other books in the Cane Brothers series do as well! Marketing. Genius. Why don't more books have this?

Happy New Release Day! If you want a sweet romance that isn't afraid to delve into heavy subjects this is for you. Trigger warning: self image issues, gas lighting, stalking, and substance abuse.

Happy New Release Day! As a nod to Halloween, Stephanie is facing her scariest fears yet- commitment and monogamy! No, I kid .. kinda. But Stephanie and Lula are back and the chaotic duo are trying to get their marks with the usual hilarious results. Not Evanovich's best work, but a damn fun time.⭐⭐⭐ I was awarded an eARC from Netgally and Atria books in exchange for an honest review. Find it on Goodreads and Garabrandtreviews.

Happy New Release Tuesday! Adam Rex's A Little Like Waking took me by surprise. The scenarios are a bit juvenile, but in the best way. It's an ode to childhood in many ways. I would have loved it at 10 years old, I love it at forty.

blurb
Garabrandtreviews

So I just started this ARC. I loved her other books and the premise seemed so cute! I am a little miffed at the narration, though. It slips from third person to first person watching things unfold. This narrator is Love and goes on tangents about her siblings Death, Lust.... You get the point. So far the back and forth is a bit sloppy but I am hopeful.

The Wind Knows My Name | Isabel Allende
Pickpick

I don't know how I feel about this one. Each part was well written and the characters and descriptions were wonderful.... But the first part felt like it was written by someone else. I know it wasn't, and that Allende used that voice and turns of phrase for the character and the times... But it made it feel separate from the rest of the book somehow. Still a good book... Just neither my favorite by the author or genre.

I finished this and loved it! I wasn't aware of a previous book having the main character but I have since bought it.
If anyone has been on the fence, the kindle edition has a free sneak peek where the first like fifty pages are. Definitely take a look?

blurb
Garabrandtreviews

I am half way through this book and I know I shouldn't like the main character as much- he's sarcastic, can be cruel, never knows when to shut up and is entirely too sure of himself while simultaneously thinking he's poop. His narrative is a rollercoaster and he's way too impressed by his own intelligence. And yet.... I love him. I want to hear every petty thought in his head and watch him bumble around trying to cope.

Once Upon A Broken Heart | Stephanie Garber
Pickpick

I am enchanted! It should be noted that this is the first of Garber's books I have read (I was unaware that the world and some characters showed up in Caraval), but I loved the stories and world building. I didn't always like Evangeline, but I loved following her through this tale. Currently unsure of Jacks who seems too toxic. Still, good world building, great lore, an interesting premise and charming characters. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Full honesty? I was super excited by the premise... And a little let down. Heaven knows I am not their target audience (seems to be ages 8-10 maybe?), But I can't help but feeling like they dumbed a lot of aspects down. There were moments of genius, but I feel like as a whole it could have been better. I also tried to watch the movie, but couldn't get past the narrator, which seemed to make the whole thing even more juvenile.

I ended up loving this so much! It was heartbreaking at times, but so sweet and charming. I loved seeing Lanie grow, and the interactions between her and Ben. I especially like that the ex wasn't a bad guy, and in fact found his own ways the Happy.

Just finished and I loved it. I loved the whole series, and how it read like a continuation of each other (you really have to read the other two first). Four more stories of people going through time with the help of a special cafe, this one being the sister cafe of the one in Tokyo. We meet Sachi, the newest of the girls to pour the coffee at seven. I loved her, and the new characters, plus the nods to the Tokyo cafe and characters I met there

I fell in love with these stories with Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I was so excited when I bought book two, but I wanted more. The characters are so amazing and multifaceted, especially considering that some don't get a lot of time in the book. Imagine my excitement when I saw a third book! 12 days and counting!!!!

This comes out Tuesday but I got an eARC from netgalley. I was impressed by this book. Phoebe is a seventeen year old in a very conservative town who has an odd fascination with sex- not in a perverted sense... But as a researcher. To share knowledge she starts a blog that gains followers... And critics. When she is revealed, how will people react? I thought the characters were well done and it was just a great book.

50% in and I see why my book buddy called this 50 shades of Olympus. Don't get me wrong, I am not mad about it... I like it. There's a lot of explicit sexual content- kink for days, but in those SUPER long passages, they are also talking, accepting one another and cementing their relationship even if neither know it yet. Plus, it's super sexy, especially as it delves into consent and mutual fantasy.

Nicky, YES! This book was crazy and a little disjointed, but not in a bad way. Things happened, secrets came to light, and new Extraordinaries are met. We see it all through the chaos of a (slightly horney) teen boy with ADHD. The gang's back, and the parents have more of a role. I am kinda here for this, too. And yes, it gets heavy due to Aaron's past decisions and the villains... But then there's Dead Magician suits and dental dams.

While I think I liked the first book more, I loved this. Persephone and Hades are together, learning more about one another. There's still a lot of misunderstandings, but I love them together anyway. When disaster strikes, bonds get tested. It doesn't help that her life in the upper world is in shambles, or that pieces of Hades'past are reemerging. Can their live survive?
This one brought all the feels. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While it had some small issues, this book is so much fun! Nick is... A lot. And a bit self-centered sometimes... He is loyal and loving though and he wants to do good. I love the interactions between the friends- and between Nick and his dad. Plus, Seth is just this adorable cinnamon roll. The fan fic parts were not great, and portrayal of the police was interesting. Some problematic aspects, but not bad. Four stars all in all. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok... A third of the way through and I have to say. . this is adorably cringy (is that even a word?) The friends are basically squad goals, Nick is ridiculously loveable for all his crazy fan-boying and terrible ideas. So much freaking fun!

I feel like there are three main themes here:
1. The stories of parents separated from their children during zero tolerance.
2. His own childhood and immigration to contrast.
3. The history of all the laws that made zero tolerance a thing that could happen.
It's a great, informative book with a lot of heart. The writing is a little choppy because the history bogs us down a bit but it's interesting and necessary to the book. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This one is seriously twisted. Louise met a man in a bar and fell for him only to find he is her married boss. She makes a new friend only to find it's his wife.
The twists and turns here kept me guessing. I lived the play between the characters, the intrigue. Four stars!

This is probably my favorite of today's new releases. Daisy and Nate share only one thing- a job where they spend minutes a day handing over the reigns... But as they spend more time together looking into odd happenings at the museum they find they might have more in common than they thought.
Both badly damaged by past trauma, can they help one another heal?
