The Summer Guests | Mary Alice Monroe

All in all, I got caught up in all the connections forged through proximity and the carryover after the storm passed. Though it was not exactly what I expected, and the storm's changes unanticipated, it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Lana's world was perfect...til it wasn't...landing her crying in a hotel closet w/a random hottie (who cares!), who whisks her away from the “scene of the crime“...oh, and he's a top ranking movie star. Yep...some girls have all the luck. Lana is refreshing while Christian...tries SO HARD! You'll adore the humor, and the heart, that gives us a love big enough to reach...to the stars and back.

Aimed at the middle grade set but with more than enough humor, wit, and adventure to extend its reach beyond the proclaimed boundaries, it's an adventure that shouldn't be missed!

Alas, this book and myself were not compatible road trip buddies. The story is much darker and twisted than I envisioned from the synopsis and while still interesting, I'm afraid we parted ways with nary a glance in the rearview mirror.

Our leads were a match made in OCD heaven, when they could get out of their own ways and the added slice of danger (aka the challenged politician) added a refreshing dose of excitement to keep things moving.... otherwise we may have gotten lost in lists!

Mehso-so

An unusual (she passes away on the potty!) and unique read (to say the least) that had me desperately trying to care for any of the leads, but by book's end, I wasn't completely without interest in how things would turn out, hence my rating. Who knows? For all its quirks, it may be YOUR next favorite read...

The perfect read to get in the holiday spirit with leading characters you can't help but fall for. If "bad boys" as equated to Ryder, we'd all be in trouble with a capital "T". ?

Long Way Gone | Charles Martin

Such a radiant story, it's hard to put into words. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, enriching the story with both their trumps and their struggles, and the ending, oh my goodness. I finished it on lunch break and had to clock in all red eyed and snotty. Fabulous read!

A first rate story with characters to love, loathe, and despise. It's one of those stories that you wish were longer to explore the relationships, learn the character back stories, and experience the fullness of the ending. Great read!

Love Literary Style | Karin Gillespie

It was a good romp through contemporary romance, poking fun at the differences between "classic literature" readers/writers and those of more modern avenues... all in good fun, of course. My only issue with the story were the numerous misses for the potential couple, over and over and over and... well, you get the drift. Still, good fun, just the same.

The Weight of Zero | Karen Fortunati

It's a story about one young lady who sees her life through a focused lens due to circumstances beyond her control, but who also needs to be opened to the world around her to see that pain does end, grieving is good for the soul, and there are those that care even when all seems lost. Reaching out can be hard and reading Catherine's story, fictitious or not, was just as, but it also shines a light on the fact that these are real issues.

Though part of a series, it stands well on its own... but if you're looking for some deep seated reading, this isn't the place. It's very light with the plot right below the surface and while Reed's and Becky's exchanges were amusing, the BIG EVENT that drove the ten year wedge, transcribed into a non event to me. Still, it had its moments... ☺

This is one of those books that you'll want to get lost in the pages of again and again. With a magical cast of characters and an equally fantastic story, Lorelei has much to learn and much to share as her imagination runs wild...

A curious read that has our young leading lady rambling through a desert for the summer, both literally and figuratively, but in the end, she finds so much more than she ever anticipated. First love, family, the beauty in the stillness of life... not to mention the heavier issues dealt with, encouraging further research after the book ends.
Also, I gotta say... I'm digging the new cover; much more befitting our little desert rose. 😊

This is a story not about the next great romance but about finding life and love in the people and situations that surround us. A must read for Women's Fiction fans with memorable characters you won't forget.

Another great romp through a monster and zombie infested post apocalyptic world with Rover...and Jack, June, Quint, and Dirk! ☺ This time around, it's a lot harder to tell the good guys from the bad guys... with MUCH more final results if your judgment is wrong. Choose wisely... but definitely choose this book!

This was a magical tale filled with hope and wonder in some of the darkest times. Yes, there is heartache, but it is so much more than that. A must read for all ages with an ending left for you to draw your own conclusions.

A great pick for Middle Grade readers/fans that reminds us that while magic is fabulous, friendship and family are forever. The action starts from page one and doesn't let go until the very end... with some larger than life situations along the way.

It's a quirky collection of stories starring the title character that'll have you wishing for a little magic in your life and wanting a Laptop of your own (not what/who you think). A great addition for current seasonal reading lists, or anytime for that matter. 😊

A mesmerizing, can't put down read that compels you to keep turning pages. Alice is a whip smart leading lady, and Janie is a puzzle waiting to be solved... then again, aren't we all? The unexpected sinister twist towards book's end will take you by surprise... and keep you looking over your shoulder for a good while.

This is nothing short of an amazing read. Charlie is a great lead/narrator that speaks authentically from the page. Sam and Patrick are both memorable in their own rights. The story gets epically messy, mostly why it's been on the #BannedBooksWeek radar, but hey, that's life.

It's about all those rights of passage, those big steps towards the future, and the changes for the family members left behind. The thing is...not all the "growing up" is done by the kids in this story... and the effects of their choices are just as long lasting and wide spread...not only for themselves but those connected to them.

In this case...the answer is yes, most definitely!

With characters that will touch your heart, and a story that will set your night on fire (in more ways than the obvious), this is a must read for Contemporary Romance fans in the adult reader category.

Her e-reader was convenient for travelling, but the act of turning the pages and of feeling the thickness of them between her hands—being able to see how many pages were left by the feel of them rather than by a percentage sign on her screen—were in themselves a pleasurable part of her reading process..."

The story was tasty as the desserts featured. Our leading lady may have had a bad turn of events several times over, but she managed just fine, turning the proverbial lemons into lemonade, or in this case, apples into pie. Word to the wise, you will crave pie during and after this story. It's the perfect read to curl up with this season as we enjoy all that Autumn has to offer.
