Latest Dollar Tree find. Love the beautiful cover.
It read exactly like a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. Those movies usually included somebody with an illness, a long last child, bittersweet happiness. Sometimes I don‘t care if I can pick the ending out with the very first line of the book. I like the journey. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to crawl into a Hallmark movie for a Saturday afternoon.
#ReadingResolutions #inheritance Maggie is given a surprise inheritance by a former client, a bi-polar writer with depression who commits suicide. The Sag Harbor house is wonderful for the single mother & her young daughter, but it comes with a resident--the writer's cranky 82-year-old mother diagnosed with Alzheimers & Edith's not happy about her new roommates.
A sweet, sometimes sad novel with an interesting premise, along with heart & humor.
Day 21 #AndItsApril #seniorcitizens Three books I've read or listened to that feature senior citizens. The top two both involve women with Alzheimer's/dementia. A Man Called Ove has a special place in my heart-I loved both the audiobook and the movie.
I was impressed with the way the author handled how someone who has Alzheimer's might come to terms with and live with the diagnosis. It's a sweet book and an easy read. I suggest it for a rainy day where you want something light (or a beach day if you like sad-ish books on beaches) 3/5 stars. Not even CatWoman can make this cover palatable 😓
Maggie, a single mother cleaning lady from NYC, inherits her estranged friend's house and money after she commits suicide. The catch is that caring for her mother, in the early stages of Alzheimer's, is part of the deal. Written with humor and sensitivity, I enjoyed reading the self-realization of the characters and the bond that formed between them.
#TBRtemptation post! Now here's a story with an interesting premise! Maggie has kept many homes clean for NY's wealthy while being a single mother. A former employer dies & gives her a house in Sag Harbor! One catch: it comes with his still-loving ornery 82-year-old mother suffering from Alzheimer's, Edith. Now Maggie and Edith must come to terms with the new arrangement, & Edith has some secrets to share. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
A quick read, engaging story, and probably the most unusual premise I've come across. Books clubs will have a field day with this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Digital library hold is here! Such an intriguing premise.... think I'll get in bed and start reading now😀📚 #tgif #FridayReads
Good mix of poignancy & humor when a single mother of a toddler inherits the grumpy 82-year-old mother (w/Alzheimer's) of a former friend/client along w/her house & money. I liked seeing the relationship grow & the entertaining side characters. Engaging & touches the heart. Grilled cheese, tomato soup & a party were mentioned in the book so I made Tomato-Vodka Soup Shooters w/Mini Grilled Cheese for my blog review. #litsycooks #cocktailhour 📚🍴🍸
The reality of my Sunday night...I did not finish either book I wanted to this weekend (although I hope to read the last 1/3 of this one tonight because I review it Tues. & need to decide on something to make inspired by it). I'm drinking White Chocolate Peppermint Tea w/Lu cookies (my fave) & Max swiped my couch spot while I was getting the tea & positioned his back to me--apparently I'm being ignored.😼How did Sunday night get here so quickly?!
Errands done-although it took me 2 stores & driving by the post office to pick up the stamps that were on the top of my list.😬 Weather isn't sure whether it wants to rain or not, we've had sprinkles, pouring down rain & bright sunshine in the space of a few hours but either way I'm hunkering down at home w/this book for review next week, a cinnamon-honey soy latte w/an extra shot & an Apple-Cinnamon Hand Pie w/ Chai Glaze🍎❤️#saturday #selfcare
I think this will gain a large audience but it wasn't my style at all. I found the premise unbelievable (house cleaner inherits her clients/friend's house but must also take care of her elderly mother in the house). That plus the incessant toddler's babbling and the obvious plot points made this unbearable for me. Moving on.
This is a story not about the next great romance but about finding life and love in the people and situations that surround us. A must read for Women's Fiction fans with memorable characters you won't forget.
This has such an interesting premise: single mom inherits a home and her late client's mother (recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's) after the client commits suicide.
