This book is an homage to the classic, 'The Portrait of a Lady' by Henry James (tagged below), a book on my #classicsTBR list since reading this one-so I'm also using this post for this #JuneBookBugs prompt. #multitasking 😆👍
pickA first rate story with characters to love, loathe, and despise. It's one of those stories that you wish were longer to explore the relationships, learn the character back stories, and experience the fullness of the ending. Great read!

pickA short historical fiction novel set in the 1950s, the author's homage to Henry James 'Portrait of a Lady' (which I have not read) ☺ moved to the 20th century of a young woman looking to find herself & facing deception. Loved the author's descriptive writing & European setting, but wished for a deeper dig into the characters & their motives. Still a pick. Today's soupish lunch for the blog, paired with my current read for review. Giada De Laurentiis's Pastina Soup is a cross between a thick stew and a risotto--a bowl of simple pasta goodness. I'm only 50 pages into the book, a bit of a quiet start, but I am liking the 1950's Belfast estate setting. Happy Sunday!
