Is Litsy down? 10 minutes ago I couldn't even open the app; it kept crashing. I've uninstalled & reinstalled it; have logged out & logged back in. Now the app stays open, unless I scroll down to actually look at content... After about 6 posts, it crashes & shuts down again. Not sure if it's a Litsy on Android thing (I'm on Android) or a general thing. (Sorry if this has already come up. I can't scroll down to see). @Litsy @TimSpalding @kgriffith

xicanti I couldn't post anything first thing this morning, and the layout seems to be shifted upwards a wee bit so it interferes with the status bar at the top of my device. (I don't know if status bar is the right term; I mean the area at the very top, with the clock, battery bar, connectivity, etc.) 6y

julesG Router settings might be a problem. Check whether the settings of the router allow your phone to use the internet without any restrictions. I once reset my router and suddenly my kindle cloud was blank. Turned out, all devices were set to restricted access. 7y

Kaye I wish the Hubster was still here. I‘d ask him. He‘s quite the tech superhero. Last night when some were having trouble in here and the LT people said it‘s our router, my husband said 🤬. Well, let‘s say t was a bad word. He said it‘s not the routers needing reset. It‘s something on their end, not yours. Wish I was more help. Do that shake your device thing and report it. If it worked before, it should still work. Your device didn‘t change . 7y

julesG My router has an access page, I type the IP address into my browser and can change settings. But, as @Kaye said, it might not be your end. 7y

Kaye @julesG Not saying you didn‘t have router problems in the situation mentioned, but the problems cropping up now in here have just begun since the shutdown thing..it‘s happening to several people, not just one, so it‘s gotta be a kink on the other end that needs fixed. Hopefully it‘ll be running well for everyone soon. Very frustrating to go without Litsy. (edited) 7y

Mdargusch I had the same problem and Tim Spaulding said our WiFi is caching the old signal or something to that effect. If you go to FB Onward Litsy group there is a discussion there. Thankfully we have two different WiFi s in our house so I just switched to the other one. I thought I was the only one. 7y

tournevis I did not see if you flushed the app cache on your phone, not reset the wifi settings on your phone. You should do both, in succession, and from settings, without opening the app. 7y

Jerdencon @mdargusch @tournevis I've tried al the suggestions and nothing works. Then when I reset my router forgot the original password and had to spend 1/2 hour on the phone to reset. And then had to reset all our devices. Ugh... this is so incredibly frustrating and annoying!!!!! 7y

tournevis @Jerdencon On iOS, there is no way to clear cache for one app. But you can tell if the cache is bigger than it should be. Plus you can uninstall an app better than with the long-press-and-make-jiggle way. Tap Settings > General > iPhone Storage. At the bottom of the screen you'll see your apps, arranged by the amount of storage they take up. Select Litsy. Look at Documents & Data. If more than 500MB, tap Delete App. Than redownload. 7y

Since I'm not smart enough to figure it out on my own... is there a way to get Net Galley books to work on your Kindle? I looked it up but it was like trying to read Greek 😑 Which sucks, bc I definitely want to read the books I was approved for!

theresidentromantic Shh, you're brilliant! Go on Amazon and locate your Kindle email. Then, register that with NetGalley. Make sure you add NetGalley's email in the same area you found your Kindle email as a registered email that can send to you. Then you're all set! 7y

LibrarianRyan Yes. But only for books the publisher allows. After doing what @theresidentromantic says when you see your list there should be a link for Kindle down load. No link, no Kindle. Graphic novels are on the the biggest things to not get Kindle links. 7y

Christine11 I think if you can do it on a computer or tablet it is easier to read - sometimes the kindle ones are formatted really strangely. Plus I don‘t read graphic novels but an Edgar Allan Poe one sounds amazing! 😊 7y

I am trying to buy my very first bullet journal and I can‘t decide! I was looking at Scribbles that matter books on amazon and the reviews are pretty good. Also a stencil and pen set, are they worth buying? I need my Litsy fam help and opinions please!!!! Thank you 😉

blithebuoyant GIRL. Bullet Journal may have actually saved my life. Use any notebook you like but I suggest one with enough space but not too big so that it's hard to carry with you. I do something different. I use a Happy Planner for the calendars and daily/weekly spreads and I bought a couple packs of lined/graph paper for when I want a handmade spread. 7y

callielafleur I really like using the dotted pages rather than the lined. Gives you a little more freedom for different designs. I think the biggest thing I have had to learn is to accept imperfection, and to not be disappointed in myself that the pages I create aren't as nice as the ones I see online. We met with members of the community on Saturday and what they want more than anything is beds. They lost their mattresses, bed linens, towels, etc. and have been sleeping on the floor since the hurricane. For the 18 months we have created a tutoring program to help kids succeed in school, brought activities such as coding and sports clinics on Saturdays, and even offered a free summer camp program. During Hurricane María the sewage plant next to the community overflowed, as did the rivers to the north and west. Every family lost everything. ⬇️

Help, Littens! So I am so excited to do the @24in48 readathon tomorrow but I am nervous about the stopwatch. I jacked it up accidentally last time and want a less risky alternative. So far it seems like the options are 1) good old iPhone stopwatch and screenshots as a backup if you lose the continuum, 2) Bookout or 3) Leio. Are there other /better/less risky options? Seems like there would be an app developed for this problem. What are you doing?

BookFreakOut I use my iPhone stopwatch and screenshot whenever I take a break for print reading, and use an online minutes/hours calculator to add that with audiobook times. I screenshot the calculator total as my proof if I reach 24 hours. 7y

BarbaraTheBibliophage I use apps that let me add different photos (including Bitmoji) into a sort of collage. My favorite is Over but I use PicCollage a lot also. Sometimes the add is copy/paste. Sometimes it's more like an import. 8y

Chessa You can also use something like VanillaPen - a free app. It has a bunch of free backgrounds (though you can upgrade for more options). You just pick a background, add text (which you can choose font for) and after you're done typing in everything you can resize the text block with two fingers, if that makes sense? 8y

GlitteryOtters Like @Kirstin, I just use the Litsy app, hit "add text", type it out, choose which font it looks best in and drag the text box to the best place on the photo. I know there are other photo apps which would make my pics look better and fancier, but I'd rather have less apps on my phone so I have more space for ebooks & audiobooks. 8y

rubyslippersreads I like PicsArt and Studio, both free. PicsArt is especially helpful to make a square background for a "non-square" photo. 8y

Magslhalliday I use Canva: it has pre made templates but you can also upload your own images and pick text boxes etc. 8y
