Apparently I've been away from Litsy for over two years!? 🙈 I don't know how that happened! But I'm back, with a new appreciation of Christmas romance and a desire to talk to book people again! #whatdidimiss

I spent a few hours #audiogardening to finish up this lovely romance. I'm so glad I'm reading romance now, especially when it is so diverse and funny and twee. This book was also sexy as hell, not to mention a Democrat's (and liberal Texan's) greatest wish fulfillment of the last 3 years.
July wrap up! A readathon always leads to a great reading month! The tagged book was my favorite, and my only five star book this month. I can't wait to read more from Jasmine Guillory.
12 total books 📚 10 female authors 📚 7 POC authors 📚 2 audiobooks 📚 2 graphic novels

"What's not to love about being expertly lit and drunk at two in the afternoon?
But I'm going to need you to love me on the bus, dude. And first thing in the morning. Also, when I'm drunk and refuse to shut up about getting McNuggets from the drive-thru."
What a perfect quote and essay for Bachelorette Monday!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 What a great readathon weekend! Today also happened to be my Litsy anniversary, and for the first time ever I won a prize! Thanks to everyone at @24in48 for organizing my favorite readathon, and good luck to everyone still reading! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Reading is getting slower and sleepier over here...It's 97°, but there's a nice breeze, and if I weren't in an uncomfortable camp chair I would have drifted off to sleep long ago! This essay collection is a good change of pace for me, it's laugh out loud funny, but I'll be switching to audio soon to make dinner. Definitely hitting 24 hours this time! #24in48
Good morning readathoners! I'll stayed up way too late last night, so I slept in a bit and am catching up on the #hour30 challenge. I didn't keep a lot of my old middle grade or ya books, and I was the kid who read way above her reading level (mostly because I thought I was smarter and more mature than I really was), but of course I loved Harry Potter. These are the new house editions I'm collecting, I can't wait to have the whole set! #24in48
#24in48 Hour 18, time to break out the cheese board and romance! I am fairly new to romance as a genre, I think the first one I truly loved was Helen Hoang's The Kiss Quotient, which I read earlier this year! I love the fake relationship trope- also found in Jasmine Guillory's novels- and I love to see diverse characters.
Time for a change of scenery and a cider, I think. #24in48
Hour 12 already! For the #audiobooks challenge I thought I'd share my three favorite audiobooks I've read this year: The Royal We, Beauty Queens, and Born a Crime. the picture on the lower right shows the audiobooks I've got lined up for this weekend, even though I still have 7 hours of the tagged book left! I get almost all of my audiobooks from the library by using the #Libby app. #24in48
Well, y'all were the first social media I shared the news with when sweet Arthur Weasley came into our lives, I figured you should be the first to know that he has left us. After almost 2 years in our home and over 3 weeks of struggle and pain, we have said goodbye to our sweet pup. I strongly recommend the tagged book for any pet owners, and give your #petsoflitsy an extra hug from me tonight.
Wow, I've been away from Litsy for a while! It's been a very stressful few months with lots of family visiting, a very sick dog to take care of, and both my husband's and my cars breaking down. Not much time or energy left over for reading. But today I have the day off and rain keeping me inside, so I'm cuddling up with some books! Finally!
February #wrapup! All in all a pretty good reading month for me, & I revisited a series I loved when I was a kid - The Cat Who series. My 5 ⭐ reads were Beauty Queens and Harry Potter. All female authors this month! #februarywrapup
#Theyearofnowhitemen is going well, but I'm noticing a trend of reading mostly white women authors, which is not what I was going for. Any recommendations on POC authors, especially male or non-binary authors?
I stopped by the library today and just had to get one of their Valentine's Blind Date with a book! I ended up with a book I don't think I would have picked myself, but I've heard good things about!
The clue reads: "I'm an atmospheric, gritty, and compelling story of star-crossed lovers."
#litsyloveslibraries #blinddatewithabook
1. Rainbow Rowell, especially Fangirl
2. No plans, so hopefully reading!
3. Tagged, I just finished this one and liked it a lot.
4. I can somehow still do the splits.
5. 🖐️♥️

We just got back from New Orleans tonight and we had so much fun! Thank you all for your recommendations, the cemetery tour we took was amazing, and the Kitchen Witch Cookbook store was awesome, and through them we found the Community Book Center, which focuses on African American literature, and had a great selection of diverse books for kids and adults! Plus I got to talk Toni Morrison with the bookseller. ♥️ #weneeddiversebooks #neworleans
Hi Listy friends! I'm off to New Orleans this week for the first time and I'm so excited! Give me all of your recommendations for New Orleans - bookstores, restaurants, art galleries, or even books set in New Orleans, (except Confederacy of Dunces, I legit despise that book). Tell me everthing!
Well for the first time I‘m not going to make it to 24 hours. At a certain point this afternoon I just wasn‘t feeling it anymore. 🤷🏼♀️ But I finished 4 graphic novels, one audiobook and two short story collections! Not my best, but all in all a fun weekend! Good luck to everyone still reading! #24in48 #readathon #imcallingit
We got a very late start for the second day of #24in48 but I think I‘m still on track for 24 hours! Let‘s see if I can actually finish a few books today! #readathon #catsoflitsy
I am calling it a night! I really had trouble focusing on my print books today, so most of this total was from audio! Thank goodness for super long audiobooks! #24in48 #readathon
Time for a change of scenery! Let‘s see if the greenhouse will help me focus! #24in48
I‘m awake and catching up on challenges! This dedication from Friday Black caught my eye, I can‘t wait to get into this book! #24in48 #hour6chaenge #readathon
Only two hours until I start reading! I have a very large stack of print books, a handful of audio and ebooks, and a totally free weekend! This is my favorite readathon, I can‘t wait to read with all of you!
#readathon #24in48 #myweekendisallbooked
Here‘s a look at my mostly finished greenhouse! There‘s still a lot of work to do inside, but I hope to have many hours of #audiogardening in here this spring!
I read two Toni Morrison novels last year, after years of being intimidated by her writing, and she has become one of my favorite authors. The audio is read by the author, and while it is hard to stomach the subject matter, it is beautifully written and performed.
#LibraryHaul from this afternoon! I‘ll be readathoning this weekend for #24in48 and I am so excited! This is my 4th time, I think, and I love getting ready for it almost as much as reading all weekend!
1. A friend recently sent me this picture of a bakery in France with my name!
2. I don‘t buy many ebooks, but the tagged book I have on loan from Libby.
3. 20ish
4. I‘m collecting the house edition Harry Potters because I want a full matching set, but no, other than that I don‘t keep more than one copy of a book.
5. Yes! To Montreal in June!
#humpdaypost
It‘s been a while since I‘ve read a good Pride and Prejudice retelling, but I am loving this one from the first paragraph! ⬆️
I‘m not sure if I should file this under #audiowoodworking or #audiogardening but the tagged book kept me company while I worked on converting a half finished shed into a greenhouse today! I‘m getting so excited for my spring garden!
My first book of 2019 is a 5⭐️ read for me! I loved the melancholy writing, the realness of Saeed and Nadia‘s relationship and the nonchalant magical realism. I also got to read some of it in the bath at a hotel, which is a real treat for me! #bookandabath #firstread
I spent the morning compiling my 2018 stats into my bullet journal! I know it‘s not super clear in the photo, but I‘ve broken it down to reading medium (print is in the lead, barely), star rating (I gave a LOT of 4 ⭐️), genre (memoir is my most read), & author demographics. I think my big takeaway is a need to be harsher with my ratings-I barely even remember some of the 4 ⭐️! This was the last spread of my #bujo, I‘m starting a fresh one today!
I was trying to fit one more book in, but I‘m not going to make it! This is absolutely my personal best, I never thought I‘d hit over 100 books in a year! 🎉🎉🎉📚🎉🎉🎉 Happy New Year everyone!!! I‘m staying inside and cuddling with the animals and the husband, drinking a little champagne, and maybe breaking down my 2018 stats!
#2018stats #yearinreview
1. Read 150 books
2. Read only women & POC authors #theyearofnowhitemen
3. My rural area is a book desert & I‘m hoping to find a way to get a free little library going in town (preferably in a park, since we do not have property in town). My ultimate goal is a mobile library, but baby steps.

I‘ve loved seeing everyone‘s explanations of their Litsy handle that @kaye suggested, so I thought I‘d join in! Part Time Domestic was the name of my Etsy shop (I sold cloth napkins & planters & other home decor). I‘ve always been so bad at usernames, so I‘ve used it for everything, even though I quit selling on Etsy this year. It was meant to convey the ‘do your best attitude‘ I try to take with housework & cleaning & other domestic challenges.
Another Christmas, another year of no books as presents. It‘s like my family does not know me but at all. (😉 I actually got some pretty awesome non bookish gifts this year!) I went ahead and treated myself to the books ⬆️.
Happy I‘ll Get It My Damn Self Day, y‘all! 📚
I went over to my parents house this afternoon to make Christmas cookies and found myself in such a grumpy mood. I‘m going to blame it on the fact I wanted to be home reading this book, as I had just gotten to a really suspenseful part, but I may be ready for Christmas to be over already. Anyone else feeling grinchy this year?
I am on a serious bail streak lately. At less than halfway through this one I‘m ready to move on. The premise, traveling across the country to learn about Americans through food, is excellent. But Majumdar fails to make any connections whatsoever between the food he is describing and what it is to be American. Bit of a letdown for a food memoir, but I probably shouldn‘t have read it right after reading Anthony Bourdain.
Because of my insomnia I do not read in bed, but when we stay in a hotel the very first thing I do is hop under the covers with a book and get cozy. It feels like such an indulgence! We are out of town for a friend‘s wedding, and I‘m almost done with this book! I thought about taking it with me to read at the reception, as we knew no one there, but I refrained and actually talked to people!#socialanxietywin
Fun quiz from over @bookriot to find your 2019 Reading Resolution!
https://bookriot.com/2018/12/05/reading-resolution-quiz/
And a very fitting result for me, considering I have decided to make 2019 #theyearofnowhitemen! The only exceptions I expect to make are for any #lmpbc picks my group has chosen and maybe Thomas Hardy because I love him.
1. I had to cheat a little to get a cute Chow Chow meme. (When life gives you lemons you give up and take a nap)
2. My Yeti coffee cup, because I needed another cup this afternoon.
3. Nonfiction/memoir.
4. The last time I ate at a Sonic, but it‘s been a while!
5. Noooooo. I‘ve only done it once and even as tipsy as I was, it was so embarrassing! 🙈
#humpdaypost
I picked absolutely the worst time to read this book, I think. I‘m liking it, but since I started reading it there have been two deaths in my life and it‘s hitting a little close to home. Anyways, I‘ll try to finish it this week to send it out for #lmpbc . @Trashcanman @bookcollecter @jb72 #groupn
And speaking of #lmpbc, I haven‘t gotten my book back from my last round, @Julie548 is it headed back to me soon? #groupo
Whew, I just started my #lmpbc #groupn pick and after just reading Stiff...I may be more morbid than I thought I was. It‘s nice to be able to laugh about death, though. Hopefully my group members will agree! How are y‘all doing on your picks? @jb72 @Trashcanman @bookcollecter
Our first freeze is coming tonight, so I‘ve brought in the potted plants and pets, covered my tomato plants that are somehow still alive in the garden, and cuddled up on the couch with a #nonfiction pick I‘ve had on my shelf for a few years. I‘m really not sure why I originally picked this one up, I‘ve never been overly interested in literary criticism, but it‘s good so far!
I think this is the third time I have read this novel, and it truly gets better with every reread. ❤️❤️❤️ Which should be next on my #janeaustenreread?
Happy Election Day y‘all! And if you haven‘t yet, get out there and vote. No excuses. #vote
