The number of books I read per year has gone down significantly recently, but I did achieve a goal in 2023: more than 50% were new-to-me titles. As a BIG re-reader, I'm going to count it as a win- and still celebrate that I exceeded 100 books this year. My 4 faves of '23 are pictured here; predictably, two YAs topped the list, but I'm very surprised that the other two took war as a central theme. Here's to all the titles ahead in '24!

LeahBergen I loved Operation Heartbreak! 12mo
Andrea313 @LeahBergen Yes! One of my first reads of the year, and got things off to a great start. For those who care about such things, it was also turned into a musical a few years ago, which had its West End debut this year. Fingers crossed for a Broadway transfer! 🤞 12mo
LeahBergen That sounds wonderful! 12mo

Looked back at my 2022 "Books Read" list and here are my faves of the year! At the Pond and No One is Talking About This both moved me in really specific ways, and the Herzog was a gorgeous fever dream. Typically I wouldn't include a re-read in a #YearInReview post, but reading Wuthering Heights with the #PemberLittens was so much fun and truly one of my favorite reading experiences in a long time. Can't wait to see the stories to come in '23!

batsy True, the WH group read really stands out. An absolutely wild book and made all the better with #pemberlittens chat 😁 2y
Andrea313 @batsy Seriously, a highlight of my year! I've never laughed so hard while thinking about that book. Some true hot takes in '22. 😂 2y

Watergate: A New History | Garrett M. Graff

My nonfiction goal for the year is 12, fell a little short this year. Mainly because I did the 800+ page Watergate book as a slow and steady for 5 months! #yearinreview #nonfiction #goals

ChaoticMissAdventures Wow that is a lot of Watergate! Did you learn a lot? 2y
LeslieO @ChaoticMissAdventures I did! There was so much more than what was depicted in All the President‘s Men. So much more corruption. (edited) 2y
LeahBergen I‘m going to have to count my NF reads of this year. You have me interested now! 😆 2y
LeslieO @LeahBergen Do you do a lot of nonfiction? I think I need to up my game. 2y
LeahBergen @LeslieO I read way more fiction and think I need to up my game a bit, too. 😆 I think I read probably 15 or 16 nonfiction reads this year? 2y

Taking a look back at 2021 in reading, and the tagged book was miles away my favorite of last year. Second place went to the Bridgerton series, if I'm honest; I binged it in about a week and it was the most silly reading fun I've had in some time. Solid honorable mentions include two #PersephonePicks (The Fortnight in September will be a yearly read for me) and Wintering, a wonderful reminder to slow down sometimes! #FavoriteReads #YearInReview
