Reading is getting slower and sleepier over here...It's 97°, but there's a nice breeze, and if I weren't in an uncomfortable camp chair I would have drifted off to sleep long ago! This essay collection is a good change of pace for me, it's laugh out loud funny, but I'll be switching to audio soon to make dinner. Definitely hitting 24 hours this time! #24in48
If you need to laugh, and I mean laugh hard- you must read this book. It just shows that so much in the human life is the same in the United States. And it makes me think of friends I haven‘t thought of in a ling time. I can‘t wait to read more of her stuff asap, free on Overdrive.
My #nonficpick for November. I didn't love this as much as I thought I would. I did audio, and I didn't care for Notaro's narration. I think it would have been better with a professional narrator. As for the content, it just wasn't that funny to me. Laurie often came across as a real jerk! I just didn't find her abrasive personality funny at all.

Notaro writes about her failures in the domestic arts in this book of humorous essays.
A great book of essays. I spent 90% of my time while reading this book laughing out loud. Notaro is brazen, astute, witty, and unapologetic. I‘m pretty sure she‘s my soul sister. For anyone who hasn‘t yet read a book by Notaro, go out now and immediately buy one of her books. Go now. I‘ll wait....
“Frankly, if I walk into your house and you don‘t have two hundred books somewhere that you haven‘t read yet, I don‘t trust you.... I barely believe you are human”
I love Laurie Notaro...hilarious, untidy, lover of books. My kind of woman. ❤️
“Frankly, if I walk into your house and you DON‘T have two hundred books somewhere that you haven‘t read yet, I don‘t trust you. I don‘t want to know you as a person.” Truth!! 😂😂
Searching for tonight‘s read....for some reason, this is speaking to me....maybe it‘s because Laurie Notaro makes me laugh. Maybe it‘s because the title hits a bit close to home... 😏
I ❤️ Laurie Notaro. If you like Jenny Lawson you're going to like Laurie Notaro as well.
I love Laurie Notaro's books. She always makes me laugh, always. Also, in her last few books there have been heartwarming & heartbreaking things as well. I highly recommend her writing. Her novels are great too!
Notaro is one of my all time favorites. She never fails to disappoint and she always sounds like she could be everyone's best friend.
This collection of essays was a bit uneven, it several made me laugh out loud, which is enough for it to earn a recommendation. Plus, she made me feel neat - a difficult feat. Her essays touch on Oregon hippies, spanx, and cheese making, among other topics. (Pic from my perpetually cluttered kitchen desk).
Laurie Notaro is my favorite author of all time and my spirit animal. I have every one of her books (these are the ones I have with me the others are at my mothers house). She was my first foray into humor books and she set the bar very high.
I don't know if I can laugh just yet, but I'm going to try and at least try to get my head into a happier place for a bit.
Always love Laurie Notaro. I feel her writing has just gotten better and funnier with each book.
Books don't count as hoarding, right?
Long Live Laurie- may be my new favorite of hers! Read April 2016
