Hello new #BakerStreetIrregulars - unfortunately @CatLass007 and I have decided to end our group after our April discussion - yes, we are still in our infancy but unfortunately I had to consider all of my groups and commitments on Litsy and in life and some things I‘m unable to give the attention they deserve. Thanks to those who have joined us on what we thought was a fun delve into the many mysteries that are out there.
It suddenly hit me tonight as i was listening to this audio book that i was utterly bored. Don‘t know why it took me so long…maybe it‘s the heat. At 96 degrees,(Bradley Airport, close by)we are the highest temp in the entire country today!
Starting this as I walk today. #audible #SherlockHolmes
Slow⭐️⭐️
I think if I was a bigger fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, I would have enjoyed this one more. I enjoyed the Conan Doyle story line, but it was hard for me to care that much about Harold. Things were just too easy for him. I am glad I finally read this though. It‘s been on my shelf for almost a decade.
🔎❤️📚
Any other Sherlockians here read The Baker St Journal? I‘m spending a lovely rainy morning with the latest edition. I use my ticket from the Sherlock Holmes Museum as a bookmark because I‘m a huge nerd. 🤓
In 2010, a Sherlock mega-fan finds himself in the midst of a murder mystery and a quest to find the missing diary of Arthur Conan Doyle.
In 1900, Doyle must solve a series of bizarre murders when Scotland Yard looks the other way.
The stories intertwine to form a solid novel that never quite figures out if it wants to be light fun or a dark meditation on man‘s evils.
The MVP here is Doyle‘s sidekick, unpublished theatre manager Bram Stoker.
“I think I love the idea that problems have solutions. I think that‘s the appeal of mystery stories, whether they‘re Holmes or someone else. In those stories we live in an understandable world. We live in a place where every problem has a solution, and if we were only smart enough, we could figure them out.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️LOVED this book!! All of the characters were well written and believable. The author did a fabulous job of switching between Doyle‘s timeline and the modern day and I was very happy with the ending!!
I don't remember much from the first time I read it. But the second time around was just as good. If you love Arthur Conan Doyle give this one a go.
goodreads says I read this in March 2014. I don't remember reading it. Maybe I did. I have slept since then and maybe slept away the memory. I apparently gave it five stars, so I must have liked it.
Well, here we go again then.
Stole from @GypsyKat 's feed 😆

Spent the day finishing this. Loved all the Sherlock info - quotes , history , secret club
This was an interesting book that follows a young present day Sherlockian as he searches for one of Conan Doyle's lost diaries. Employing the methods of The Great Detective, Harold White sets out to solve a mystery that has baffled generations of Holmes' fans.
I was out running errands this morning and found this at Dollar Genral.
Went to the book shop to get some ideas for my #summersantagoespostal and came home with this. (And a few goodies for my secret santa.)
The blurb was interesting.
A solid debut novel. Enough twists to keep me interested. The two narratives came together nicely at the end. Fun read.
Littens, I've read so much Sherlock and Sherlockesque stories in the last couple of months that I might be turning into Sherlock. Today I posted on FB that 3 minutes of sprinkling and a 3 minute delay of the bus couldn't be a coincidence. We all know how the world's first consulting detective feels about coincidence, right? #Sherlocked
The basis for the mystery and the weaving of past & present, fact & fiction - are really excellently done. Clever. It educates on Conan Doyle, Stoker and their time period without pedantry. Those aspects I enjoyed. But ultimately, I didn't like it. For much of the story I just felt sad, and I finished it feeling that way. Too "real" maybe for a lover of the fictional Sherlock Holmes world?
Beginning this on audio, and enjoying it so far. The storyline back and forth from Sir Arthur to present day is well done but tough for me. I get into the time period and scene then have to switch gears for the next segment in the other period and scene.
I really enjoyed this, but I'm not sure it would be as great for someone unfamiliar with the Doyle canon. It's historically interesting, alternating between a version of a modern true crime story and a totally fictional story about Arthur Conan Doyle solving a mystery with his friend Bram Stoker. Neither mystery is all that great, but for a Sherlock junkie like me it was fun to be totally immersed in all things Doyle and Holmes for a while.
Well, pretty much a #readathon fail. But I finished one and started another.
still currently reading, but love it so far.
Probably not actually featuring Cookie and Elmo. Alas.
