Great book to read in smaller doses. Kempton has three main sections for before, during, and after Christmas, but many other great subsections as well. Calm to read, reflect, and enact. I actually finished this one earlier in the week & forgot to post my review. Read for #Naturalitsy #MidWinterSolace & it‘s a nice little book about having mindful holidays & finding joy in a stressful season. I got some great tips & ideas for a simpler Christmas & I know I‘ll pull it out again next year. Part 3 on after Christmas & planning for the new year was especially helpful & I used many of the questions for journal prompts.❄️

I listened on audio, but I need to purchase a print copy, because I want to re-read this book every year! So many helpful, realistic ideas and thought provoking questions. Excellent choice for our #LitSolace #MidwinterSolace buddy read.

Enjoying our backyard view with the #naturalitsy book all about keeping the holiday season in check. So happy to be relaxing in our emerging home library, our Christmas gift to us.

Of course, the lounge chairs we chose don‘t have room for dogs to snuggle right up next to us. I‘ve placed super comfy dog beds in here, but Lizzie is still not happy with this seating development.

I read this for #MidwinterSolace - I didn‘t love this book but definitely took away a few kernels of wisdom & it makes you stop & think about what‘s really important & what your priorities should be around the holidays. 3⭐️ 80 points

Spending #HyggeHour starting this book & a peppermint crunch chocolate bar.🍫 It‘s not been a calm Christmas so far so hoping to find ideas in here.

I might finish the scratch off for my #OnceUponABookClub reading challenge so I can take a pic & send it in for a free book, but honestly, I‘m tired & have to get up ultra early to fly to Hilo so I might throw it in my overnight bag & do it at the hotel.🤷🏻‍♀️

My plans for #hyggehourreadthon tonight. I will probably start at 7 p.m. reading tagged book in my bed, while sipping a hot toddy & chewing on a ginger cookie. Not sure how much I will read… cozy visual from insta -Sweatpantsandcoffee.

Completed the #MidWinterSolace buddy read. I enjoyed it a lot. It did get me thinking about stuff, especially as my mom has been recently diagnosed with cancer and I feel this will be our last semi-normal Christmas

I like the Calm Contemplation sections throughout this book.
⭐️ I have fond memories of Nativity plays when my children were younger.
⭐️ I am an atheist, so faith plays no part in my Christmas or indeed life. However, the Story of Faith, carols, candles, and choirs all make me feel very nostalgic and Christmassy.

Realized I didn‘t have any Christmas themed bookmarks and wanted one to use with my holiday reads. And this book has exercises I wanted to do in a dedicated notebook, so a Christmas journal seemed necessary lol. Early Christmas gifts to myself I guess ☺️

I think this is probably a good read if you're overwhelmed each year by Christmas, but since the Hubs and I don't have kids and usually spend Christmas on our own or with friends, a lot of advice didn't serve me. But it did really make me think about gift giving and how I want to tackle future Christmases.

Hygge is very much a mindset rather than a lifestyle. It's all about comfort, not just physical but also emotional and psychological comfort. Focus on what brings you comfort in life, the people you spend time with, fave activities, food & drink.
Most importantly, do what you gotta do to take care of yourself. Own your mood and embrace it for what it is x

A delightful book filled with musings, suggestions, love and light for the holiday season. I picked up a few great ideas to make the season less harried and more meaningful. #wintergames #mistletoemaniacs @Clwojick @StayCurious

I enjoyed the parts that celebrated and romanticised Christmas and winter. Beth Kempton is great at describing simple things in beautiful ways.

I less liked the ‘self help‘ parts which came across quite privileged and ‘just be less stressed‘. As a person with chronic pain, being told that enjoying Christmas will be easier for me if I journal and do yoga every morning doesn‘t help a lot when my condition makes those specific things very painful.

🌲All this snow has me with Christmas on the brain. One of my favorite bookstagrammers has Calm Christmas in her pile of TBR. Once I read the premise, loving the idea of daily readings from late November thru January, I immediately bought a copy. Who doesn‘t love the notion of a calm Christmas or calm season in life for those that celebrate differently or not at all?

Anyone else reading this during the holiday season?
