Can somebody help me pretty please? I‘ve been keeping track of my reading time every day for #HauntedShelf but I know there‘s a bunch of readathons going on and want to claim points for that. Is there a master list of all the readathons going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🤗

ShananigansReads There was one circulating before the start of October. I‘m not sure if it‘s being updated but I‘ll try to find the Google link for you. 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @ShananigansReads thank you so much! 🤗 1mo
robinb Do you follow @LitsyEvents? They do a great job of keeping up with what‘s going on. 😊 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @robinb I do, thank you! 🤗 1mo

I posted on Facebook, didn't get many responses. I still need 5 more recommendations. I'll take the first 5 if I haven't read them.

- I'm not a big fan of fantasy unless it's horror.
- Also not a big fan of romance... unless it's romantic comedy.
- I'm only looking for one recommendation per person please.

Roary47 I‘d suggest if you haven‘t read it already 2y

aperfectmjk @ETALTON I've read it. It was a fun one. Thanks! 2y
aperfectmjk @Amiable I'm not having any luck finding a digital copy. I'll have to see if I can locate it at the library. This might have to be a backup 🥺 2y
Amiable @aperfectmjk Oh, I didn‘t realize you were looking for digital reads. I‘d recommend anything you can get by Mary Lawson, then! Perhaps this one: 2y

I picked this one up for Nonfiction November. In theory this sounds like a book I'd absolutely love. Unfortunately in reality I just wasn't a fan. It had a few good moments but most of it I found boring and awkward.

I need some new audiobook series to get into. Genre doesn't really matter. Ones I've loved so far:

🔸️Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer
🔸️The Expanse (sci-fi)
🔸️Walt Longmire
🔸️Women's Murder Club
🔸️Stephanie Plum
🔸️Sookie Stackhouse
🔸️Outlander

I've got pretty eclectic tastes. Just want a good, preferably fairly long running, story. Thanks in advance for all your ideas!!

RamsFan1963 If you liked The Expanse, then I would recommend the Embers of War trilogy by Gareth L. Powell. It has the kind of vibe. 2y
Mollyanna The In Death by J.D. Robb series (Susan Erickson‘s narration) is good on Audio. I also like Alexander McCall Smith‘s series on audio. (edited) 2y
Ruthiella I suggest Elizabeth Peter‘s Amelia Peabody series narrated by Barbara Rosenblatt. 2y
See All 12 Comments
Traci1 @RamsFan1963 The Expanse is probably my favorite series ever. I just put the Embers audio on hold at the library. Thanks for the recommendation. 😊 2y
Traci1 @Mollyanna ooh I forgot about In Death. I think I'm around book 30. I need to find out where I am and get the next one. Thanks! 2y
Traci1 @Ruthiella thanks! Just downloaded the first one on Libby. 🙂 2y
MsRadioSilence I‘m currently listening to The Empire of Sand on chirp and I‘m really loving it! Fantasy inspired by Mughal India, 16hrs and some change, and a great…reader? narrator? The person that reads the book to you. Love her voice. THe sequel is also out. (edited) 2y
brittanyreads I always enjoy Agatha Christie on audio and I adore this series.. 2y
Kimberlone Red Rising series is fantastic on audiobook! 2y
Bookzombie If you like historical fiction/mysteries, the Lady Darby series by Anna Lee Huber is great. This one is up to 10 books. She also has another series, set after WWI, that is good called the Verity Kent series and it‘s up to 6 books. Another historical mystery series is the Kat Holloway series by Jennifer Ashley, also up to 6 books. I enjoy all of these on audio. 2y
Bookzombie A present-day mystery series I enjoy on audio is the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo and it‘s up to 14 books now. (edited) 2y
Bookzombie Oh, and the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. Sadly, the narrator changes around book 11 because the original passed away, but still good! 2y

Anyone know sweetener-free or no saccharin toothpastes other than Tom‘s if that doesn‘t work. Bonus if they have a fluoride-free option, too. Available in US, please!

@Cinfhen I think I‘ve finally figured out why!

Scochrane26 I only know of Tom‘s. My dentist told me not to switch because we need the fluoride, maybe there‘s another option that is like fluoride? It will be good if a different toothpaste is the solution for sleep. (edited) 4y
Megabooks @Scochrane26 Tom‘s does have adult (and kids too) options with fluoride, but I want to eliminate both just in case. (I had bad reactions to fluoride treatments as a kid.) My old Crest toothpaste had sucralose, which didn‘t seem to bother me, but it has gone to saccharin as well now. Some mint flavors give me a headache, but it‘s never clear which mints in toothpaste, so I thought I‘d start with the kids and go from there. Thanks for weighing in! 4y
BarbaraBB It would be fantastic if you can use other toothpaste and sleeeeep again. Maybe this article is helpful? https://nymag.com/strategist/amp/article/best-natural-toothpastes.html 4y
See All 15 Comments
CarolynM No ideas, but hope it works🤗 4y
Laughterhp I think I‘ve only used Tom‘s fluoride free toothpaste. You could always do like baking soda toothpaste. Idk if that has fluoride in it. 4y
Cinfhen What!?! That‘s awesome if you found the solution!!!! How did you figure it out??? I don‘t know of any toothpastes but I can ask my friend who‘s a dentist. Hope it works (edited) 4y
candority A lot of low/zero waste toothpaste is fluoride free. They often come in little tabs or powder, rather than as a paste, which takes some getting used to. If you just Google low waste toothpaste, tons of options will come up if that‘s something you want to explore. You can get a sample of Lush‘s Toothy Tabs for free if you have a store near you and go ask! I hope you‘re able to find something 🤞 4y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB thanks for that, Barbara! It looks like Tom‘s is the way to go to avoid sweeteners. I‘ve always had a problem with artificial ones, but I didn‘t know they switched what was in my toothpaste! 4y
Megabooks @CarolynM thanks! 💜💜 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen like I was literally falling asleep, like not even wanting to read, but I dragged myself out of bed to brush, and suddenly, I was wide awake feeling like a million ants were crawling on me. And I was like, oh...maybe it‘s the toothpaste! 4y
Megabooks @candority awesome! I‘ll look into it and see if any are sweetener free too, especially if I don‘t like the Tom‘s. Thanks for the heads up! (And I wish there were a lush near me, but I live in a small town.) 4y
vlwelser I use a really weird cinnamon flavored one. Dr Bronner's. There are other flavors. Floride and artificial sweetener free. At least that's the info that pulled up when I looked at the cinnamon. 4y
Cinfhen I really hope this works, Meg xxx 4y
Megabooks @vlwelser I have actually heard of Dr Bronners, but I‘d probably have to order from Amazon. I‘m going to try the Tom‘s first, but it‘s nice to have other options, especially since cinnamon is my fav. Thanks! 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen me too! I had to see the dentist today for an unrelated issue, and the required swishing of mouthwash before made me sick again. Finally feel normal now. I‘m going to talk to them about using just plain hydrogen peroxide before appointments instead. Thanks for the support. 💜 4y

Help! Who has spoilers for BoTM, Read with Jenna, Reese‘s Book Club and more monthly picks/celebrity book clubs? I remember seeing posts but I can‘t remember who does it. I would LOVE a tag when any amazing sleuths figure this out ahead of time 😊🙏📚
Ordering for my library when I know what will be big is a gigantic help for the holds lists! 📚♥️

Laughterhp @swishandflick I think usually posts spoilers. 4y
Chelsea.Poole @Laughterhp thanks so much! That‘s exactly where I saw the latest #readwithjenna post! Thanks! And thank you @swishandflick for being so on it and sharing! 😊 4y
marleed I feel your need. I have fun keeping up with Reese and Jenna‘s pick. In 2020, I read all 24 - and in 2020! I don‘t always love them but that‘s okay - sometimes that makes it interesting. Jenna‘s books are always on the current BOTM list and sometimes Reese‘s are there, too. Often I‘ve place my order before I know her pick but then pick up as an add on (if still available) the next month. 4y

Hi Litsy Family! I need your help! Every year I create a must-reads challenge. I start the year with 40 titles, then of course add new titles as they are released. I would greatly appreciate if you could take a few moments to vote on my Goodreads poll to help me make my selections for the first 40. https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/209987

😘

Laughterhp I voted, but didn‘t realize i could only pick one 😂 4y
aperfectmjk @Laughterhp yeah, that's a bummer. What were your other choices? 4y
LibrarianRyan Done. You might put in the description that you can only choose one. I didn't realize that or I wouldn't have chosen what I did. I thought I would get to choose a few. Good luck. 4y
See All 12 Comments
Laughterhp The Only Woman in the Room, Still Life and The Secret History. I haven‘t read most of the others. 4y
aperfectmjk @LibrarianRyan thanks for voting. What were some of your other options? I will add them to my tally. 4y
Megabooks While I love attachments as a fun book, The Elegance of the Hedgehog is phenomenal. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is up there too. 4y
wanderinglynn I agree with @LibrarianRyan about letting people know that they can only choose one. I did the same thing. I might have picked a different one had I read Ryan‘s comment before I voted. 4y
LibrarianRyan The color purple, never ending story, 4y
aperfectmjk @wanderinglynn I can't edit the poll now that it's created. 🥺 4y
wanderinglynn Oh well. Good to know for next time! ☺️ In addition to the one I picked on your poll, is also pick A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. 4y
TheSpineView I voted! It was tough but Neverwhere and Daisy Jones were close seconds. 4y

A memoir about using self help books to improve every aspect of her life. This book is a humorously written look at what can happen when you decide to implement the life improvement tips you have gathered from reading numerous self help books into a self improvement mission. The big takeaway I took from reading this is to not take self help books too seriously and to not lose the people who mean the most to you in your quest for self perfection.

Marianne Powers decides to change her life by reading a different self-help book each month. She‘s going to lose weight, be healthier, happier, and take control of her finances. At least that‘s the plan. An honest, sometimes humorous, look at the ups and downs of discovering if self-help books really work. If they do, for how long and at what cost?

I started the tagged book this morning at the auto glass shop while waiting for my windshield to be replaced. Tax refunds are easy come, easy go, I guess!

The premise of Help Me! had the author reading and following one self-help book each month for a year. Month One was tackling fear, so she posed nude, performed stand up, chatted up a guy on the tube, and parallel parked.

What scares you that would you do for such a challenge?

LoveToReadLiveToRead I could parallel park without much fuss but the other three sound pretty scary! 6y
Reviewsbylola That sounds so interesting! 6y
Reviewsbylola And no effing way would I lose nude or perform standup. 😆 6y
See All 8 Comments
Tamra Hmmmm, stand up would be a no. If the nude was like those finely aged calendar ladies (English?) that were so cleverly, gracefully, and artfully done, I‘d do it. Does anyone remember the name of the calendar? Was so great - in fact didn‘t one of the photos involve books? I remember the baking/cooking pic. 6y
CouronneDhiver Public speaking, maybe? 6y
Crazeedi Nothing involving naked thank you very much... my fear would be skydiving, swimming in the ocean(like way out in ocean) 6y
TK421 I would finally face my fear of flying. 6y
AmyG Hahahaha parallel parkng. That....I understand. And there is no way I would ever do what I fear....heights. So skydivng, rock climbing, bungee jumping. Math. Nope. (edited) 6y

I am trying to live through one of the worst reading slumps I ever remember having 😫😫😫
I am looking for a really well done fantasy/sci fi series that is cool and different but not ridiculous 😬and if all the books are already published that would be amazing
Aaaannndd go...
P.s. I‘m a bit tired of Assassins and European sword and sorcery in general but I‘ll consider anything at this point.
TIA ❤️

Yeah_I_Read @hermyknee that looks good I‘ll check it out 😊 6y

hermyknee @readingjedi and I had the same idea 😂 I‘ve only read the first book in the Becky Chambers series, but I can‘t wait to get my hands on the next one 6y
Yeah_I_Read @hermyknee @readingjedi I think I might pick it up tomorrow at the library! It seems cool and definitely kind of what I was looking for. Since it got a double mention I feel like it‘s fate lol 6y
kgriffith You might try 6y
readingjedi @hermyknee I'm just finishing the first one. I got the last of the trilogy from NetGalley without knowing it was a series. So glad I sought out the first part rather than plough in mid series - I hate that! But yes, it's a great read! 6y
kgriffith ETA: whoops, you said series! NKJ has at least one complete series out, starting with The Fifth Season; I‘ve not read them yet but The Killing Moon was also so good. Or, this collection of sci-fi shorts was excellent, and I‘m not a short story person: (edited) 6y
Yeah_I_Read @kgriffith I liked Binti! And I‘m not a short story person really either so I‘ve been hemming and hawing over How Long til Black Future month. Have you read it? 6y
kgriffith @Yeah_I_Read I did, I listened to the audiobook and couldn‘t stop! Several of the stories were some of the most original I‘ve encountered, really innovative stuff! 6y
Yeah_I_Read @kgriffith I love NK Jemisin I‘ve read The Broken Earth series twice already! And the first in her Dreamblood duology which I think was Killing Moon. I‘m definitely gonna check out Black Future Month. Thanks 😊 6y
Yeah_I_Read @kgriffith I started The Queen of the Tearling but I Don‘t think I was in the right mood for it at the time 6y
kgriffith @Yeah_I_Read  I could see that. It took me a bit to buy into the whole dual-world concept. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage This is a two book series. So intense. 6y
Yeah_I_Read @kgriffith I am gonna check out Ink and Bone though. Thanks for all the suggestions 😊❤️ 6y
Yeah_I_Read @BarbaraTheBibliophage that looks good. Thanks 😊 6y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch is so good. Part mystery and part fantasy 6y
Lmstraubie Maybe this series??? There are 5 published. 6y
DGRachel Only the first book is out of this trilogy, but book 2 releases in two weeks or so. 6y
DGRachel Also, this is my favorite author. Two books are out of a planned four book series 6y
DGRachel And for Sci-Fi, my favorite series is the original trilogy of Red Rising. Book 1 is a little slow to get started but books 2 & 3 are absolutely amazing. 6y
Melissa_J Try Micheal J. Sullivan. His books are still European sword-like, but his characters and stories are a lot of fun. This first book in his Riyria Revelations is 6y
llwheeler One of my all time favourite fantasy series (trilogy, all books out - tagged first book) if you haven't read it. It does start out in an alternate Europe but goes further, and it's not the same old European sword and sorcery imo 6y
mhillis Maybe this would suit? 6y
Dragon Or more sci-fi 6y
Bookcation74 I can not recommend the Illuminae series by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman enough. All 3 books are published. I have gotten so many good book recommendations from your feed - I hope this helps! 😊 6y
Yeah_I_Read @Bookcation74 @Dragon @mhillis @llwheeler @Melissa_J @DGRachel @Lmstraubie @BookHoarder32 thanks so much everyone! I‘m heading to the library with all these recs and if I still can‘t find something I‘m gonna quit reading... jk... ❤️❤️❤️ 6y
Elma The Wayward Children series starting with Every Heart a Doorway. The newest in the series comes out on Tuesday. They're very short books and while the stories are set in the same world they aren't a direct continuation of each other. 6y
Yeah_I_Read @Elma yes I love those! I‘ve been saving my audiobook credit for the new one. I‘m so excited for it 😊 6y
Yeah_I_Read @GirlNamedJesse I liked that series! Do you know anything else that‘s similar? 6y
GirlNamedJesse @Yeah_I_Read Unfortunately, no! It‘s wholly original! But you could try her duology 6y

CoffeeNBooks Congratulations! Thriftbooks is a great place to get used books, and if you're a teacher you get a discount when you buy 20+ books at a time. It's where I get most of my books. They have pretty good prices. They're running a discount right now through Thursday- 20% off when you buy $20 worth of books. I have several book suggestions, and I asked my students today (12th graders) and they suggested some books, also. 6y
CoffeeNBooks Harry Potter series, The Princess Diaries series, The Hunger Games series, the Divergent series, the Kingdom Keepers series, any of the Twisted Tales, any of the series by Rick Riordan, anything by John Green or Jason Reynolds, The Outsiders, Nearly Gone, Nearly Found, and Ready Player One. 6y
CoffeeNBooks I get a lot of my book suggestions from the Florida Teen Reads list each year, a list put together by the Florida Association for Media in Education. It's a list of high interest books for teens. #englishteacher #teachersoflitsy 6y

BookwormAHN Neither went with mine. 6y
BookaholicNatty @BookwormAHN thank you!!!! They both must of went with That Kind of Mother! Thanks for the quick reply! ❤️😘 6y
Julie548 The stickers were with mine. Not the book mark unless someone added it! 6y
ads0123 @BookaholicNatty the bookmark was mine! I must‘ve left it in one of the ones I sent you!! 6y

Help is needed from all the wonderful Littens out there. I need an audiobook whose title starts with X to listen to in order to complete the #LitsyAtoZ Challenge.

Any thoughts or suggestions? All help gratefully received.

Andrew65 @Leftcoastzen It would be out of order, only read A 😂, but did think about this one. @Eadieb (edited) 6y
MinDea @jfalkens had a post asking for recs too and I remember seeing a lot of good ones. Do you remember what people had recommended? 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Unfortunately can‘t see an audiobook for this one in the U.K. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Did think about XO, that was my original plan but would be a ROO as it is book 3 in a series I haven‘t started yet. (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @MinDea Was that recent or some time ago? @jfalkens 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB There is an audiobook for this one. 6y
MinDea Recent enough that I remember it happening ... Far enough away that I couldn't find it when I just looked for the post. 😆😆😆 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Xanadu looks like non fiction, it does need to be fiction. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 which one has an audio? 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB No audiobook for XYZ murders. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Xibalba looks interesting 6y
Caterina This one is fiction about Malcolm X: 6y
Andrew65 @Caterina This one looks interesting. At moment likely to be this one or Xibalba @EadieB 6y
JoRead It's a fictional account of the early life of Malcolm X 6y
Andrew65 @JoRead That‘s what interests me. @Caterina 6y
LisaJo When I did this challenge last year I picked X by Susan Grafton. It wasn‘t my favorite of her novels, but it fit the requirements. I had not at that time read all of the books to X, but I felt just knowing the character was enough to read it out of order. 6y
jfalkens I tagged you in what Littens recommend me when I asked. I read 6y
jfalkens @Andrew65 @MinDea it was 3 months ago. 6y
thegreensofa Something about the letter X attracts murder.. all the books are about a murder ..except the last one (what an interesting post this is and what a great question!!😀) 6y
Amandajoy I‘m not sure how this is on audio, but it would work! 6y
Kaye Grafton. —— (edited) 6y
Cathythoughts I can‘t help you ... but that‘s a very cute post 👍🏻💕 6y
