Its one of those books that has always haunted me ever since and I have always wanted to re-read some 30+ years later. On my second reading I found it to be just as haunting, thought provoking and disturbing as I remembered it to be.This book touches me in so many ways and still leaves a footprint in my mind.Told from the main characters point of view we delve into what are the demons drive her, a college-aged student to eat herself to death? ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like a lot of bookworms,Victoria just wants to be left alone so she can devour all of the books that she can get her hands on.Victoria escapes into her reading as a means of coping with her miserable, daily planned life with her career oriented, condescending husband.Victoria sees a glimmer of light a man in her coffee shop who reads the same books as her. A very engaging, dark humoured/sarcastic toned read that I adored.A must read.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I enjoyed the pacing of this thriller and found myself trying to work out just what was going on and why the ransom being requested for their safe return was so unusual.I was rooting for Amelia and her release, her story was riveting and didn't allow my interest to waiver in the slightest. Ned (the husband) was a character that I loved to hate. I also enjoyed the way the twists in the story lines concluded. Another very enjoyable read.⭐⭐⭐⭐

There were times when it wasn't an easy read and I had to take a pause from an overwhelming surge of empathy for the author and just what she has not only survived but what has made her so much more stronger. We are so used to true crime reads being from the perspective of detectives/psychologists/perpetrators but to hear from an actual survivor who not only survived his attack but other things as well made it a captivating and inspiring read.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sadly I found it kind of just didn't hit the mark for me.I found it dragged on from the friends 20 years later perspective as he reminisces about their childhood days and it seemed to go over a lot of details that just weren't relevant to the main plot and not in a leading your mind one way for a plot twist kind of way but in a what does this even have to do with things annoying kind of way. ⭐⭐
