Just finished a book and not sure what to read next? What do you guys feel about any of these? #makemereadit

Eggs I read Ragtime and liked it 😊 5y
ljuliel Ragtime and Jonathan Strange are both good. Depends on what you‘re in the mood for. Ragtime is short but has a bit of history tossed into the story, while the other is quite a chunkster and reminds me a bit of a more modern version of a Dickens book, with many characters , but a bit more of a magical story than Dickens wrote. (edited) 5y
TracyReadsBooks Graceling all the way! (edited) 5y

Daisey This is a really interesting and varied selection. I enjoyed Plains of Passage when I read the four books together long ago, but my immediate vote is Graceling. 5y
Karisa Jonathan Strange was a fun read, but I'm going to join the chorus in singing the praises of Graceling. I read it years ago but remember loving the characters. They leap off the page and the adventure is a terrific ride. Great series! 5y
AllieLovesBooks Just based on the covers “Ragtime” looks awesome! 5y
TheSpineView Jonathan Strange is good. 5y
Heretherebedragons Either The Graceling or The Plains of Passage 5y
MicrobeMom @eggs @ljuliel @TracyReadsBooks @Daisey @karisa @OrtizReads1 @TheSpineView @Heretherebedragons thank you all! I will read them all, but I went with Ragtime because it was short. So far it is good. 5y

Pickpick

And with Good as Gone, the random pick from @emtobiasz , I completed my challenge to get me out of my reading slump.
And it worked!!! I‘ve torn through several more books since I finished this up a few days ago. So thank you all! This was even more effective than the #MakeMeReadIt I tried a year or so ago by voting on books I chose. If I do this again it will be by random draw.

Quickly, this book was great 👍🏻 Twists & turns I never expected

emtobiasz Ah, your bingo numbers! I was trying to figure out how I had picked this book for you, and had to scroll through your timeline a bit 😂 Glad it was a good one! 5y
Sweettartlaura @emtobiasz it was 👍🏻. Totally random, but this was too-notch 💁🏻‍♀️ 5y

The Haunting of Hill House | Shirley Jackson
post image

This season appropriate selection got the most votes and came out on top of my #makemereadit stack from last night. I get scared easily, but I‘m willing to risk it for Shirley Jackson. 🖤

Lcsmcat I don‘t read horror, but I loved this one. 5y
Reviewsbylola I‘m waiting on another one of her books to read right now. This one is a great choice for this time of year! 5y
PerksOfBeingABookworm This was my first horror novel and I did fine with it. I‘m also a lightweight when it comes to all things scary. You can do it! Just read with the lights on 😆 5y
Palimpsest I typically don‘t read horror, but read this one during the day because I loved We Have Always Lived in the Castle so much. I tried to read it with the lens of the psychological rather than demonic happenings that made it easier to read. I know I seem silly, but I‘m super sensitive to horror. 5y

Soubhiville Oh my gosh you can‘t go wrong with that stack! I‘d go with Hollow Kingdom because I‘ve heard things that make me think I‘d love it. 5y
Susannah The Haunting of Hill House since it‘s season-appropriate but Anne of Green Gables right after! 5y

Pickpick

LOVE. This goes on the shelf next to Anne Lamott & Rachel Held Evans & all my other favorite honest, vulnerable, strong, hilarious women of faith. This is my favorite kind of spiritual autobiography—an author who speaks of her journey of faith and relationship with God with such openness, humor, and lack of pretension—and a swear or five. This both challenged & encouraged me...now I need to bump up her book Accidental Saints in my reading queue!

BarbaraJean Forgot to add—this was another fantastic #MakeMeReadIt pick! 5y

This is SO GOOD. I was a little reluctant to pick it up, anticipating that its heavier subject matter would make it a difficult read. But I had a hard time putting it down, even as I was frustrated and angered by the heartbreak inflicted on each of the characters, by circumstances and by each other. It was also a fascinating counterpoint to An American Marriage, which I‘d read not too long ago (both #MakeMeReadIt picks!).

Liatrek Nice review 😊 5y

September, September | Shelby Foote

#SeptemberTBR! Two for book clubs, the last three of my #MakeMeReadIt picks (I really am going to finish them!), two poetry, a couple more from the TBR, and that giant chunkster of a fantasy novel that I‘m a third of the way through. I‘ll probably add an audiobook or two as well... and will see how far I get with the rest!

Owlizabeth I loved Priory so much, hope you‘re enjoying! 5y
BarbaraJean @Owlizabeth I‘m really enjoying it!! I saw so much love for it on Litsy, I couldn‘t resist checking it out when I saw it on the New shelf at the library. It‘s living up to the hype!! (edited) 5y
