Thank you to all my dear Litsy friends who have reached out during this difficult time. 💕💕 I took a lot of your advice, and relistened to my favorite Sedaris book while I did a fun redo of two bookshelves when a friend was able to help me unload. I spent today enjoying rearranging until they felt right. It was really therapeutic, and I‘m happy with the results!! They‘re the ones I look at when I read before bed, so I wanted them perfect! 😁😁

There‘s less about his family in this collection than in others I‘ve read so far. It‘s disappointing, if only because his family seems a veritable goldmine of comic fodder (I have a particularly soft spot for his foul-mouthed brother). But When You Are Engulfed In Flames isn‘t lacking in comic characters, even if they‘re not related to Sedaris. Continuing on my #SedarisSpree (which I totally just made up, but does happen to be a thing), in preparation for seeing him next month!! 🙌 I mean, the man just doesn‘t disappoint. Though there are a few dated parts, it did not take away from my enjoyment of this kindred spirit‘s shenanigans. I listened to the audiobook which is the only way to go with his essays. I mean, utterly hilarious. I can‘t get enough. Next!

I completed my goodreads challenge, YAY! Leaving it right to the end 😅 And happy to do it with a David Sedaris I‘d never gotten to - he‘s the best and I find I appreciate him more with every collection I listen to (despite the occasional outmoded terms).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A #reread sparked by my dear Meg! I think this is the only Sedaris I hadn‘t read multiple times 🤔 - that is, aside from Squirrel Meets Chipmunk which was a bit of a fiasco, IMO. As always, his personal essays are the right mix of wit, dark humor, and self deprecation. Absolutely one of my top authors! And van Gogh‘s “Skull with Burning Cigarette” is a favorite painting AND book cover. #coverlove

Sometimes you just need a #reread! Even though this isn‘t one of Sedaris‘ more cited works, it is possibly my favorite, if for no other reason than the longer essays at the end about quitting smoking. #relatable Plus there‘s the f**cky-f**k essay, which is an all-time fav, although a bit awkward to read with your dad, as I did recently in his best of collection! #audiobook

I was today years old when I found out David Sedaris knew Lucy Grealy! Not surprising as they were both writers in NYC in the early 90s.

Right here ⬆️ in this essay about his cranky neighbor Helen, he tells her he knows the poet who lost half her jaw to cancer that was on Oprah. I can‘t think of who else it would be besides Lucy.

So we've created a new way to waste large amounts of time in silly ways. It will (I hope) appeal to those who enjoy both sports and books. It's called the #bookdraft and it blends fantasy football and literary trivia. You basically select a fantasy football team composed of authors. We explain the system and draft our teams in the episode. I will be posting my team shortly. Enjoy!

I have read several of his books and they are all laugh-out-loud funny and charming at the same time. This one is a favorite but I recommend any of his books! Very relatable short stories about family, relationships, life, etc. Always puts me in a better mood bc I can‘t help but laugh! 😂

This is my current favorite Sedaris. Hopefully this will kickstart my reading back to normal!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sedaris is always a good option. This is my fourth or fifth Sedaris and I really enjoy them. This was not exception. I always listen to his #audiobook because he narrates them.

It had been a while since I‘d read a David Sedaris. As with most of his collections, this was a mix of good and so-so stuff, but mostly good. He seemed a little older, more mature in this one.

In the middle of listening to this audiobook, I googled "David Sedaris Tour." I would love to go see him sometime! This was another laugh out loud book interspersed with some not so funny stuff. The good stuff far outweighs the bad though.

In case you were wondering the results of my search, David will be in Oregon in November, but the venue closest to me is sold out already ?

I came across these Sedaris books in the donation box at work, and since they're in almost perfect shape I snagged them! I'm pretty excited about them all! I haven't read anything by Sedaris before, though I've heard many great things about his writing. Which one should I start with? 📚💕

As always, Sedaris makes me laugh. A perfect light read for introverting in snatches during this busy weekend.

In the process of cataloging all my books, I‘m rediscovering all of my signed books. I especially love David Sedaris‘s signature!

Y‘all, I am miserable today. I had ankle pain for two weeks and went to a regular ortho and he prescribed physical therapy, which made it so painful, I cried myself to sleep at night.

It took another two weeks to get into the foot specialist. He canceled my therapy and sent me for x-rays and an MRI. I get the results Friday. Good vibes appreciated!

Usually walking really helps, but I can‘t do that. 😫 So I‘m settling in with my man David. 💕

Listening to David Sedaris, and trying to pretend that I don‘t have to venture out tomorrow. Schools are closed (including Universities and that never happens), the USPS is even not sending out carriers, but I get to work. I am not bitter at all!! 😜.

This was the book I was talking about last post. Was going to send a pic of the autograph and story. I had a bedbug scare and they ransacked my room and really wrecked my library :-/

Late night finish. Sometimes I feel I don‘t start reading until everyone goes to bed! 🤣🤣

Anyway, this is my favorite Sedaris. Good mix of childhood and adult stories. #Audiobook is, of course, excellent.

The last thing I‘ll say is I wish I had gone to Japan to quit smoking. I probably wouldn‘t have screamed at the top of my lungs at my mom for throwing away stale crackers. And then kicked her out of my house. Not my proudest moment! 😫🤦🏻‍♀️

While proving me wrong that David Sedaris is famous enough that every American would recogize his books, i described to my boyfriend that David Sedaris is a professional people-person; not extroverted, but more in an anthropological musings way.
His writing is funny and clever and usually gives me new perspective, while reminding me that i am never alone in the things i imagine about people on public transpiration.

I think the person who came up with the new cover art for David Sedaris‘s backlist might be a genius. This one is on special from Audible today. I liked Naked pretty well, and I really enjoyed Me Talk Pretty One Day. Should I buy it? 🤔
