I won‘t say I hated this book, but I won‘t say I liked it. The story pulled me in and I wanted to finish it, but it was also annoyingly unrealistic and predictable. I would say if you are interested in it, get it from the library or a friend, don‘t spend your money on it!

I‘m not usually into mysteries that try to go supernatural, but I ended up liking this book and being sucked into the story! The characters are developed enough and the plot is different enough that even when I was still on the fence, I wanted to know what was going to happen so I couldn‘t put it down!

Any fans of the podcast Serial? Or ppl from the Baltimore area circa 1997? This book was def inspired by a case that happened here just outside of bmore and was covered in the 1st season of serial. I think the author did a good job capturing some unique elements of that case like the cultural differences that were involved on all sides. Thankfully she took the story in a different direction than reality and the end is very twisty!! A great read!

I really liked this book. It was different from other books in this genre, and a lot of thought went into the mystery and the story. I loved the main character, as flawed as she was, she was very relatable. I definitely recommend this one - it‘s an older book but it was new to me and the story is not dated.

I was prepared not to like this book from the way it started. I thought the story/characters were not developed enough but I was wrong. As the book goes on, the story and characters get better and I ended up really into this story and not wanting to put it down. I was ok with the ending and I definitely didn‘t feel like it was predictable.

Wow...I definitely did not see this book going the way it did! While the story was good from the start, by halfway through I was wondering if I misinterpreted the genre or something, but the second half made it well worth it to hang in till the end!! I don‘t want to give anything away, but I will say I loved how things wrapped up and this book took me through all of my various emotions! ❤️

This is what I have to read today and honestly, I wish I had the option to pass!! I used to love case studies...but the capstone course for my masters degree has cured me of that!!! I should‘ve gone for a degree in literature!! 📚😫

This one goes on my list of “life changing” books that I will keep forever. If you‘ve read it, you know. I was not born to run...I shot up to 6ft tall at age 12, killing any chance of my knees making it through a lifetime, and despite many years of trying to become a “runner” I was described as “the opposite of a gazelle” by a trainer. Still, reading even a few pgs of this makes me want to run outside immediately!! Book goes way beyond running!!

Nute Super curious about this now! Stacking! Lol - “the opposite of a gazelle.” 3y

There are two books in this series so far (that I know of?) and I have enjoyed both. They are set in France, so there are some phrases that were unfamiliar, but not to the detriment of the story. The book plots are hard to describe without giving away too much, but the main character is a plucky single mom (prob why I like them so much!) who uses creativity and stubbornness to get in and then out of some interesting situations!

I wasn‘t sure if I would like this when I decided to try it as an audiobook...but almost as soon as it started I was in love. The story, the writing, it‘s all wonderful! This book reminded me of how much I loved mythology and fantasy as a kid, and I‘ve gotten back into it after reading Circe. I highly recommend this one in print or audio!

I have read several of his books and they are all laugh-out-loud funny and charming at the same time. This one is a favorite but I recommend any of his books! Very relatable short stories about family, relationships, life, etc. Always puts me in a better mood bc I can‘t help but laugh! 😂

I loved this series despite a few campy aspects. I'm sad it's the last one The plot of this one is def derivative, but it's only the last few chapters where that gets annoying. Otherwise a great book and one of my fave things about the series is the dev of the main characters. Maybe I identify w parts of the family story (not the serial killer part) so it appeals to me. Overall I def recommend this book, esp if you have read others in the series.

Ok so please trust me when I say that I am usually NOT into “self-help” stuff, but this book helped me through a really difficult time so I recommend it. I listened to it as an audio book first, then bought the hard copy so I can reread it and also so I could make notes etc. It‘s not so much that what she says is dramatically different but the way she says it and her own examples just really spoke to me. It might help someone else so I am sharing!

Thanks to covid lockdown I have rediscovered my love of painting and creating art so I am combining that with my love of books to go through this one. It‘s a book with workbook elements and one of my personal goals right now is finishing what I start. So I‘m holding myself accountable for finishing the 12-weeks of work in this book without quitting! I‘ve heard great things about it and I hope it brings me some clarity!

Well it certainly didn‘t go the way I thought it was, but overall I think it was a good book and a worthy read. Not quite as “suspenseful” as I would have liked, but at least it wasn‘t predictable and it wasn‘t boring! I recommend it to mystery/suspense fans

I enjoyed this book, and was kept guessing til the end. There is a lot of snowboarding talk that I personally don‘t understand; but most of the book was descriptive enough that I was able to still visualize the action. If you enjoy a thriller/suspense story I definitely recommend this one

So I made it 66% of the way through, but I can‘t with this bookI don‘t want to spoil anything for anyone, but it was too obvious and predictable from the start, and the character soliloquies just got to be too much! One other thing I didn‘t like and maybe it‘s my own weirdness, a few parts made me actually emotional, which is NOT what I want in my casual reading! This book just wasn‘t for me unfortunately.

Has anyone read this book that can tell me if it‘s worth it or not? Sounds like what I need, but I can‘t stand self-helpy nonsense, so I‘m hoping it‘s better than that??

This is one of the best quotes I‘ve read all year....I was a bartender and suffered through a lot of karaoke so I vouch it is a true statement lol “I hate being driven—driving is like karaoke—your own is epic, other people‘s is just embarrassing or alarming.”

Overall I liked this book and would recommend it,but I do have some mixed feelings about parts of it. There are some wonky plot points and the main character has some unnecessary, sometimes awkward thought tangents. The story definitely hooked me enough to get past those issues and it was a different twist that I was happy to see.

Definitely worth the read if you enjoy these sort of mysteries. Good ending that wasn‘t super predictable and the story kept me interested.
