We read this book in my at work book club this month. I wasn't familiar with the author at all before reading his story, which takes him from Texas to Yale, Berlin, Washington, D.C. and back to Texas. I always enjoy reading about people's lives. I'm counting this as Something from Another Point of View because, to me, someone else's life story always offers another point of view. #Nonfiction2018 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Totally counts! And another one off your card! 6y

Geeklet Looks great! 6y
Hestapleton I‘m gonna have to pass on this challenge. :( I‘ve already bitten off more than I can chew for this year! 6y
See All 17 Comments
LibrarianRyan I didn‘t realize it would be a specific book let. I too have to pass on this challenge but that you for effort. 6y
BeansPage @LibrarianRyan it doesn't have to be in this specific order. You can read the books and any order you like. Just so they're all checked off by the end of the year. That is the goal 😉 6y
Amiable Some of these I've already read, so I'm not going to read them again. And some of the others I have a hard time stomaching, like anything by Adolph Hitler and Rush Limbaugh. 😳 But I will attempt to get through some of these! Especially the ones I can cross post with the #nonfiction2018 challenge. 6y
BeansPage @Amiable yes I knew those ones were going to be hard for some of us to read but I think for a challenge to really be challenging we should challenge ourselves to read outside of the box. I know that most people would not pick up those books on their own. And if anything I won't fault you if you pick them up and labeled them as a DNF. 🤗 6y
SconsinBookyBadger List looks great! There‘s 2 I saw that are going to be nopety nopes but other than that reading game on! 6y
SleepyDragon Sorry, I'm gonna pass. Life is too short and there are other books I'd rather read this year. 6y
BeansPage @Hestapleton @NeesyBeth no problem at all 😁 thank you for showing interest in it 🤗 6y
tammysue Oh gosh it sounds great but I‘m going to have to sit this one out Tamara. x💖 6y
BeansPage @whatshesreadingnow 😘🤗😘🤗 6y
Andrea4 Printed and "challenge accepted!!!" ?? some I have read and I dont re-read much so I will count those as already done. I know some will really challenge me, here's looking at you, Mein Kampf & Star Wars novels...but I will persevere!! 6y
BeansPage @Andrea4 I know Mein Kampf is going to really challenge us. But I know that together we can get through this LOL 😜 And what better way to read such a challenging book than with friends? 🤗 6y
GingerAntics Not going to lie, I wasn‘t a fan of the Star Wars book(s), but I could have worked with that, but you lost me at Rush Limabaugh. I grew up hearing him on the radio at full volume (my grandmother was hard of hearing), and I wouldn‘t sign up for more of his bigotry if I got paid to. Sorry. I‘m out. 6y
BeansPage @GingerAntics LOL in that case I would be happy to make an exception for you. if you still want to join and you can skip that one hon 😉 6y
Mindyrecycles Something to offend everyone. Just like the show. Love it! (The list, not the show. LOL) 6y

Things I've learned in 2018:
-I need to read more poetry.
-Audiobooks keep me from murdering my coworkers.
-The #nonfiction2018 challenge got me hooked!

This year I also got married, had a major health scare, had some upheaval at work, and made a huge decision about my future.

I also went to a bunch of book signings, met some awesome littens, and enjoyed this amazing reading community SO much! I love you guys!

I finally finished this #chunkster before the end of the year. This book is amazing as it literally covers Vincent‘s entire life. I learned so much about this artistic genius. The authors provide all of the accounts about Vincent‘s death and offer their own opinion based on their research in an appendix. #LitsyAtoZ #MountTBR #Nonfiction2018 @BookishMarginalia

I'm calling it on 2018! I know this picture is hard to read, but these are the challenges I completed this year. By complete, I mean I reached my goals. I may have stretched the requirements a bit. I might post about the incomplete ones tomorrow--undecided. Pretty successful year, although not as successful as I'd originally planned. #seriescatchup #readaroundtheworld #IdRatherBeReading #nonfiction2018
@Riveted_Reader_Melissa @annebogel @JenP

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great job! And great challenges! I need to do a series catch-up really badly too! 6y
Izai.Amorim Happy new year, Hannah! 6y
readinginthedark @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thank you! The series catch-up is one I'm doing every year, because I drift away from so many series in the middle. 🙈 But I figure if I tackle at least a few each year, I'll make progress, slowly but surely... 6y

The Tower of London is such a fascinating historic site. This short book was an interesting look at the work of protecting the ravens and life at the Tower. #nonfiction2018

Librarybelle I really need to read this one! 6y
Reviewsbylola I just visited there last February! 6y
MallenNC @Librarybelle I think you‘d like it. The best parts are about the ravens‘ personalities. 6y
MallenNC @Reviewsbylola It‘s a great place to visit! I have been a few times and I always learn something new. 6y
JaclynW Oh cool! I love the Tower of London! I've been twice. Such a fascinating historical site! 6y

Overall I REALLY liked this book. I learned a lot and am grateful for the people willing to share their emotionally painful stories. As a substance abuse therapist, there are a couple of things I disagree with, but remain openminded to as addiction treatment progresses. #Nonfiction2018

JustJill1963 Powerful book. 6y
Bookladylinda I want to listen to the audio of this one. 6y

I have officially finished the #nonfiction2018 challenge! The goal was to read one nonfiction book a month, but I actually read 13 total!

Penny_LiteraryHoarders That's a great idea and a very doable challenge! Will keep it in mind for my 2019 reading! 6y
RinaBrahmbhattBarot What was end of your life bookclub was like? 6y
