#AdventRecommends @emilyrose_x

I read this series when I was young and it brought out my love for mysteries, detective stories and even series reading.
My daughter fell in love with them as a kid and is a big reader of many genres but loves mysteries the most.

mrp27 I loved these as a kid! 2y
CogsOfEncouragement I love these and so does my son. 2y
Ruthiella Me too. Loved ‘em as a kid and I still love mystery novels! 2y

Day 24 of #scarathlondailyprompts is lies.
I adore this series. I was ecstatic when my son was enthusiastic about reading these too.
The lies Bugs Meany tells brings Encyclopedia a lot of business, and he always outsmarts Bugs.

Break out those magnifying glasses — plus those encyclopedias (or maybe just a handy Wikipedia scroll, perhaps). The new episode of my book podcast is all about the first book in the classic Encyclopedia Brown series! We chat about the origin of the series, the way it portrays smart kids, its super cool format, and a potential Encyclopedia/Rory Gilmore crossover. 🔎 Link to listen in my bio!

CogsOfEncouragement Ah! Another absolute favorite from my childhood. I could not have been happier when my son enjoyed the series too. 2y

For #Brown I thought of Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective. And the book cover is sort of brownish too.🤎

#BookCoverChallenge
Day 76.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.

Pickpick

Well, since I had to set aside The House of the Seven Gables until I can find a copy with larger (non-microscopic) print, I pulled this classic off the shelf. I used to read these as a kid but only ever solved about half of them. This was fun!

Hooked_on_books You could try Serial Reader for the House of Seven Gables. I bet it‘s on there. 3y
ravenlee @Hooked_on_books I‘ve been having similar eye problems with ebooks recently, unfortunately. I was looking for something on hoopla recently and couldn‘t finish it because of eye strain. It‘s probably time for an eye exam, unfortunately. I had to get glasses about 9 years ago for full-time use but pregnancy fixed it! But I think the fix may have run out. 3y
Hooked_on_books @ravenlee Oh that stinks! Such a bummer to hear that. But hopefully you‘ll find an edition that works. 3y
DaveGreen7777 I just recently discovered a podcast called “Meddling Adults” where the host has two guests on every episode and they compete to see who can correctly solve the most children‘s mysteries! 😂 Every other episode they do Encyclopedia Brown books. It‘s a great listen for anyone who read EB back in the day (like me)! 😁 3y

Getting down to the wire here with #20Series20Days! For Day Eighteen, I‘m going with the Encyclopedia Brown series which I read as a kid. More Sherlock Holmes than Nancy Drew or The Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia solved most cases using science and/or logic. Loved ‘em! 😍

Sparklemn I had forgotten all about these books. I loved them as a kid. Enjoy your re-read! 4y

LeahBergen I loved this series, too! 5y
Megabooks @LeahBergen 😁😁 My mom has always read mysteries, and I wanted to be like her. I loved the series, but after vet school, I just didn‘t enjoy mysteries as much. My mom, however, is still going strong on mysteries! It‘s pretty much all she reads besides the occasional historical fiction. 5y

#riotgrams theme for the day is beloved series. I used to devour Encyclopedia Brown books. These books were like Sherlock Holmes for youth: everything from backwards writing to subtle clues to brain puzzles, I ate these books up. I have no idea why they are not as popular nowadays, except that I doubt that kids know what an encyclopedia is. Lol! I always wanted to write the female-led version ... Anyone else love this series?

Day23 #FeistyFeb #boyinthetitle Apparently the few books I have read with 'boy' in the title (at least the recorded ones) were from childhood, pictured in the top row. The bottom row has two unread boy-titled books that have been on my #TBR list for ages: 'About a Boy' & 'A Suitable Boy' and one that I am anticipating-'New Boy' is the upcoming Hogarth Shakespeare adaptation of Othello by Tracy Chevalier due out in May. 📚👍

Zelma Farmer Boy was one of my absolute favorites as a kid. ❤️ 8y
