Second things second! I have been accepted into acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine school! I started last week and I am in love with it! It‘s overwhelming a little bit but mostly love! To be continued below! ⬇️

Soooo, I found a #queerbookstore and lost all of my self control. We need more #queer stores in #yyc because as much as I prefer to buy books used I will always always feel good about supporting my #lgbtq authors and shop owners. #queerbooks

Still honeymooning, but onto our final leg in Vancouver. Or we will be once the ferry lands. Not loving the late night ferry, but some tea and Le Guin should take care of that.

One of the hardest things about being a (fairly) young member of the #lgbtq community is that you lack older role models. Not only that but you really miss the opportunity to connect with older couples and learn from the ups and downs of their relationship dynamic. Ergo this book and the other queer books were a must for me to pick up. #bookhaul

I throughly enjoyed finishing this book up while waiting 5 hours for the ferry today. 🙄 apparently one of the major downsides to Vancouver island is that there‘s like two major highways and when there‘s an accident on one the whole island clogs up. Alas. I did enjoy the cult narrative and reading about Jenna‘s escape from #Scientology I always love cult stories though so 🤷🏻‍♀️⛴

Hey so back when I was reading this book a few months ago someone recommended a book of Le Guin responding to Margaret Atwood or maybe the other way around and I was wondering if anyone knows what I‘m talking about at all because I can‘t find the original post.

God the truth of this. I feel like it applies to the environmental and economic pr blend we are faced with today that might not have been so drastic if previous generations had been more careful and aware of their actions.

But on the other hand, the long run is a luxury that they couldn‘t afford at the time.

I‘m really enjoying these stories. My grandparents were farmers and ranchers for most of my life and the stories they would tell me about their parents and siblings have so many similarities to the type of story Proulx is telling in this book. These are cowboys stories about people that live off of what they can scratch out of the ground, men that hurt and never talk about it, and prairies that are awe inspiring in their bleakness.

It‘s sooo hot. I tried reading in the bedroom with Lucille, as pictured here, but I‘ve had to migrate out to the hammock. +30 at 7 at night is way too hot. #lucilleproblems

I‘m in need of some #queerfiction, stat! This collection of #shortstories includes the authors most famous, brokeback mountain. It‘s Stampede in #yyc and this feels like the perfect read for right now. Not to mention that my family have been long term prairie people and cow people and I am super excited for this read. 🤠

I‘ve been leaving notes for my little sister @mimsyborogroves for most of our lives. It‘s only recently that we are reading similar books and I‘m so excited to be able to recommend things and hear about her thoughts! ♥️👯‍♀️

Holy crap you guys this book was KILLER. Fast paced, and a thoroughly enjoyable ride. As much as I enjoyed the movie, I found the book 100% more immersive and focused a lot more on the intricacies of the drug, which I enjoyed. Another thing that I enjoyed is that the book is set in mid 90‘s New York, which I, being born in 1994, never experienced, and in some ways feels just as exotic to me as England in 1500... #scifi

You guys! I got book shamed today! This has never happened to me before and I‘m feeling really frustrated!

I made a post on my Facebook page yesterday, of the quote from my last post here on litsy and included a picture of the cover of the book. A friend of mine saw the confederate flag on the book cover and kind of lost it about how novels about the American civil war Romanticize the Old South and black slavery. I responded that it was a ⬇️

Bookish lunch breaks are all that get me through sometimes. My coworkers arent big on reading and commenting on the speed that I go through books seems to entertain them. Im finding this book to be quickly paced so far which is nice, as I vaguely recall finding it arduous the last time I read it. I am pretty sure I didnt finish it, and am hoping to make it all the way through and onto the final instalment (which I‘ve never read) this time around.

Today I am helping to man a friends booth at an expo of sorts, but I get to read when it‘s not busy so it‘s all good!!

Alright, finally time to dig back into the Hazard‘s and the Main‘s. This will definitely be a chunky read, weighing in at 1100 pages! I love #historicalfiction because it takes me out of the here and now, which quite frankly is more depressing every time I check the news. I‘m looking forward to being swept up in the romance. Also Georgia‘s sick of posing for me. 😅 #dogsoflitsy

I LOVED this. Each story is so well crafted and complete, I could not have been more satisfied. She blends elements of dystopia, magical realism and supernatural flawlessly in each and every one of these stories and I loved the profusion of #lesbian characters. I love all #queerbooks but the representation and everything just made my heart sing. I can‘t thank you enough @BookishTrish

Does anyone else have a serious affinity with #chunksters?? Weighing at 945 pages this chunkster is HEAVY. I couldn‘t walk away though!!

HmMMMMm I‘m really torn. Im honestly not to sure (right now anyway) what I actually think off the book. Does anyone else find that? That you need a 12 hour period after reading a book before you are really ready to say with any real conviction what you thought of it? #1001books friends! I‘d received my copy of the book quite a few weeks ago but have been putting off plunging in as I‘ve been unsure of how to properly chronicle my quest. Today my aunt gave me this journal, and I realized it would be PERFECT. Each place has a full page to write on and space for the dates that you visited on. It will be be the perfect match and I‘m so excited!
