3 ⭐ First this book is too long. And there are so many ideas in here that it seems like a mishmash. There‘s the idea of being afraid, the idea of feeling left out, the idea of not fitting in. Towards the end the minotaur says they learned that black is just where all the colors meet seems to come from nowhere and belong to a different book. It‘s just altogether weird. I like the illustrations.

This was a good fairy tale, and I enjoyed reading it, but never felt like I fully connected with it. Like, the writing was really good (Beagle can be very poetic at times but very humorous at other moments), but I never quite connected with the characters. Still a pick! Still a fun read! I just think it‘s a book I would‘ve enjoyed more when I was younger.

Second #AuldLangSpine book from @BookmarkTavern complete!

Reggie Did you ever watch the cartoon form the 80s? It‘s dark, lovey, and sad. 3mo
BookmarkTavern His writing really is gorgeous isn‘t it? ❤️ 3mo

Dentist appointment done and killing time until my haircut. Another #AuldLangSpine title, a caramel brûlée latte, and a tomato mozzarella sandwich.

I really liked this graphic novel in the lessons that it teaches children. It is a cute way of talking about friendships and how to bring out the best in each other. I would use this as a class read aloud and have students work in random partners, talk about the things that they like about each other and what they are good at, what they admire about each other. I also like the lesson it teaches about disagreements and how to handle them.

The graphic novel Sparkly New Friends written by Heather Burnell, is a cute story about Unicorn and Yeti and their friendship. The story explores their friendship starting from when they see each other sparkle from a way away, finally bumping into each other in search of what is so shiny. They end up forming the best of friendships despite their differences and help bring out the best in each other along the way.
