#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

Spending my #HyggeHour with Encyclopedia Brown for #EBBR & since I‘ll finish early, spend the rest of the hour with my Kindle & one of my current reads.

Drinking ice water & my snack is part of this candy bar. Mood is a little tired & not looking forward to Monday morning & a busy week of work.

I liked that this one had less overt racism than other entries in the series and it didn‘t include any mention of the creepy tooth collection. However, the solutions seem to stretch logic - the solutions could be right, but there are other explanations that are overlooked/ignored. Good for the target audience, though. #ebbr

Ruthiella Glad to hear this is better than the last one and there‘s no mention of Charlie Stewart‘s weird collection. 😂 4d

Done before lunch! Only two cases tripped me up. I knew I was doomed when Encyclopedia needed specific denominations of coins and bills.

Repost for @Ruthiella

Another month and another #EBBR title to read or re-read! Time for all those participating to hunt down a copy. So far I‘ve been lucky that my library system has them available in ebook format.

This blast from the past is a group read available for all.

Sace I ring in every month with Encyclopedia Brown. It‘s become my first day of the month tradition. 😁 2w
Ruthiella @Sace I really look forward to this and the #NancyDrewBR each month. It‘s a mini mental vacation. 😃 2w

#EBBR

My solved to stumped ratio was particularly bad in this one! 😬 Though, IMO, none of the solutions were particularly convincing. Was the author running out of ideas, I wonder?

Also, it was unpleasant reading due to one incident of animal cruelty and racist portrayals of indigenous Americans. The fact that it was the Seminole, however, it does help geolocate Idaville as being in Florida or one of its neighboring states with a coastline.

DGRachel This one was definitely not my favorite and I‘m glad I‘m not the only one who thought some of the solved involved questionable logic. I remember thinking, “well, yes, that‘s true, but what about…”. 4w
Ruthiella @DGRachel Yes. The real mystery here is why the perpetrators confess so readily when faced with such flimsy “proof” of their crimes. 😅 4w
Read4life I‘m with you on this. I think this was the weakest in the series so far and by far my least favorite. 4w

Ruthiella @Read4life Let‘s hope the next one is better! 🤞 4w
Sace I‘m glad I wasn‘t the only one with fewer solves than usual! 3w
Ruthiella @Sace This does seem to be one of the weaker entries in the series. 3w

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

Reading Encyclopedia Brown for #HappyHour tonight. My library didn‘t have Book 5 but the library bookstore had a copy for 50 cents, so I grabbed it. Since it won‘t take the whole hour, I‘ll finish up with The House on Mango Street.

Beverage is ice water (hydrating) & snack are these gummy candies. Mood is tired & sad it‘s Monday. Breathing better tonight but not looking forward to a long day of work tomorrow.

AnnCrystal 🙏🏼💝. 1mo
kspenmoll Glad to hear your breathing is better but sorry for your long days ahead. Try & take care of yourself as best you can.🩷 1mo

I try to make allowances for the time period in which these books are written, but the racism towards Indigenous people was too egregious to overlook and it crops up in more than one case. This is one I wish I‘d skipped. #ebbr

Ruthiella Yes, it was egregious in this one. 👎 1mo
