My favorite radio station is Stephen King's Rock N' Roll Station WKIT 100.3 FM. I grew up in Bangor, Maine, USA & still have family there. I often listen to WKIT when I'm driving to visit them.

Carrie White does not have it easy. She is unpopular at school and subjected to her mother‘s religious fanaticism at home. She also has a secret: she can move things with her mind. When she feels like she‘s been given a chance to be normal, an unexpected and cruel prank turns her gift into a weapon of horror.
This was a reread. Always as good as the first time I read it.

1. Had to help with fixing the rain gutter yesterday. Like to get my daily writing word count up, and try to catch up on reading goals.
2. My porch, lawns, cars, and houses.
3. Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Been warmer with more sun for a couple days. Right now it‘s around 70°.
4. Should be finishing this today.

As I contemplate about how to approach a major sort of all the books , I saw this posted , I couldn‘t resist to see if there were copies left at Blackwell‘s , now it‘s mine ! Ba ha ha !
I seriously slacked off on my Stephen King reading plan, so I‘m starting back at the beginning.

50 years old. Wow. 😳
Managed to bag this beauty and it was the last copy in Waterstone's Liverpool ❤️
I cannot wait for the rest of the 50th anniversary ones to come out.
I love Stephen King- and my late 80‘s reading were full of King, Koontz and Saul. Margaret Atwood (also a favorite) wrote the intro to the 50th anniversary edition- and the Times shares it- It is filled with nuances and information that only make me love Stephen King even more.
50th anniversary edition has arrived. 50!!!!
I was 6 and didn‘t read then, think I was probably 11 before I nicked it off my brother‘s shelf.
It was interesting reading this one again. I think the story‘s structure is very messy — switching between different POVs and news clippings, book excerpts, and court transcripts — but the characters are some of King‘s best, and this ends up remaining one of his most emotional and angry books.
Stephen King walked around Bangors cemetery and often got his names for some of his characters from the tombstones he would walk by. This grave was where he got the name for his famous work, “Carrie.” I got a picture of it when we went up to Maine recently and it‘s perfect for todays #scarathlon prompt!

For todays #scarathlon photo challenge: Blood
I‘ve never actually read this, but it‘s on my list for this month. I still remember that iconic scene of pigs blood 🩸 #blackcatcrew
Flew through this one. I grabbed it off a shelf at a used book store I discovered recently and am very happy with my choice. #booksixof2023
I can‘t seem to download my photo. I listened to the audiobook and Sissy Spacek does a great job at narrating. I really enjoyed the introduction by Stephen King and the book itself. It wasn‘t frightening, I just found it so sad.
Book 107🎧 3.5⭐️
One of Kings MOST iconic books IMO. Although I think the movies give Carrie a bit more spice, whereas the book had her very passive even after the blood event🩸🩸
Audiobook pick:
I enjoyed this classic horror novel. It is interesting to compare earlier SK writing to his current novels. I actually have preferred his newer works in writing style, which has notably evolved over time.
First time reading this, I never realized the book was a little different from the movie. I did like it but I have to wonder if the movie wasn't a thing would have liked it, I guess I'll never know 🤔

I love this cover. ❤️ I found this copy at a thrift store in my town & just had to have it.
#thriftfinds
The ultimate “town misfit gets revenge” story, King‘s first published novel came out with a bang. I first read this as a teenager and viewed Carrie as a tragic anti-hero - almost rooting for her revenge. As an adult, I found this to be a more emotional read about the far-reaching impact of our worst teenage impulses, and what could have happened for Carrie had one adult stepped in. In the end, Carrie is a cautionary tale still relevant today. 4⭐️
I have enjoyed immersing myself more in Spanish by revisiting stories that I am familiar with. I plan to continue to do this (monthly) and maybe branch out to other books I feel I could quickly grasp. Yesterday, I drove 2 hours for the kiosk in the hotel not to work and for them not to give me a room (without my husband physically present), and instead of purchasing my own - which I could have, I ended up driving back. Anyway, #DoubleSpin Down!
Started my #DoubleSpin book while I indulged in some #AudioSelfCare
Book 1/100
Stephen King Challenge is off to a good start with January's pick of Carrie. I've apparently owned my copy since 2011. Although I haven't read it like It or Dreamcatcher which I've had to replace more than once, it's still a good book every time
I found this copy of Carrie for $2 while travelling. I‘d not read it before so the timing was perfect for a small village AirBnB read. I love the cover of this one.
It‘s much more fulfilling and multi-dimensional than the movie(s). Not my favourite of his work, I think he got a lot better but it‘s the perfect size for what it is, the story & characters & torment of Carrie developed well. I thought the closing line was stupid and unnecessary.
Started our movie marathon with some classic Stephen King. The book of Christine is so much creepier than the film. 15pts for spooky films plus an extra 15pts as all based on books. #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
Lunch break and a movie. This is one of my favorites. It‘s also one of my favorite King books.
#scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious
The story is told in a very interesting way. It pops back and forth between characters experiencing the story in real time and news, academic, and court reports after the prom. I did not appreciate the vulgar parts, so I skimmed through those. But it‘s definitely a classic, scary high school tale of a telekinetic girl, poorly treated by her mother and classmates, who gets her revenge not just on her classmates that abused her but the entire town.
I'm starting to know his work enough to see potential connections. Like maybe this is the car from Christine? Cool.

Jotting down some spooky movies I hope to watch next month! Scream is our official team movie (yay!) and I have more classics but hope to watch some new stuff as well.
Any Netflix or other streaming suggestions? My last binges were You and All of Us Are Dead, and I also enjoyed the new Predator movie, Prey. 😊
As problematic as Carrie is by today's standards, it's still an amazing read, and representative of the best in Stephen King foreshadowing, which he employs to great effect throughout. The first time I read this, I was in middle school and had no knowledge of what would happen. On that read, the foreshadowing served to heighten my anticipation. This time around, knowing how it would all end, the foreshadowing only evoked a sense of sadness. 5/5
Another fantastic read by Stephen king , every iv spoken to said this book scared them but for me I found it incredibly sad every page I just wanted to protect carrie . Also a nice quick easy read so a good book as an introduction into King's work 🥰

Carrie by Stephen King
He‘s one of my favorite horror authors. I can‘t hype this version I own of the book enough. It was published even before I was born!!! It‘s the definition of a treasure for me! I LOVE it and it‘s screaming for a re-read.
Have you read it?

1. I don‘t read much horror.
2. 👮🕵️♂️🌂💼🩸🗡🗝🖊🚨⚰️🧐
3. I like mysteries because, while there are usually recognizable characters and tropes, the story can still go in many different directions and take place nearly anywhere.
4. If it‘s a true impulse read, interesting cover art would be more intriguing.

I decided to finish my collection of the brown Stephen King covers. Carrie was my last hold out.
I found it Used on GoodWillBooks Dot Com … and while I was there I bought the other two.
Love Stephen King! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first #ReadKing book is complete! This is a reread for me and a very low pick. Probably just above the "meh" stage. I've always liked this story and it's a quick read but there are just So. Many. Words! That's King for you though ?♀️
The colours in this edition just go great with this picture and the fire/water contrast are perfect!
