BarbaraJean I actually finished this one on time! To refer back to my earlier comments on Terry's use of chapters: I was sad he reverted back to no chapters here! But I did really enjoy it, chapters or not. I loved seeing Moist discover new sides to himself, and the interplay with Adora was fantastic, even if there wasn't a whole lot of it. I also liked Dick Simnel and the way Harry and Moist kind of mentor him. And the reveal about Vetinari at the end! 5d

julesG @BarbaraJean Still wondering where I read about the chapters and what. My mind is a sponge when it comes to soaking up information, but a bank vault when I try to get the information out. I know that chapters were discussed pre writing the Tiffany Aching books. Guess I'll remember it when I least expect it and don't have anything with me to take notes. 😁 5d

kwmg40 I really enjoyed this one, partly because I love travelling on trains and find the history of train travel interesting, and partly because of the subplot involving the dwarves, which provided a few surprises! 3d

4⭐️ I had some issues with the book. While it was a really good book, I had some trouble finding out what this book wanted to be: is it supposed to be a #historicalfiction book or a #contemporaryfiction book? I liked the contemporary timeline over the historical timeline. There were some details that I missed or glossed over and will probably want to reread the book. #2025 #fiction #readalong

TieDyeDude I really enjoyed the graphic novel adaptation. I'm not a fan of the artist's style, but it was consistent and the characters were discernable (which isn't always the case in comics with a large cast). The overall focus was more on the Colorado crew, but it never felt rushed or lacking. I would say the biggest miss was Trashy. His story kinda dropped off after he got to Vegas, so his role in the finale felt underdeveloped. 2w

TieDyeDude I has been about 5 years since I read The Stand for the first time. I was surprised at how much came back to me as I was doing this re-read, though I mostly forgot the Vegas finale 🤷‍♂️ Maybe in another 5 years, I'll read the uncut novel 😋 Has anyone done this on audio? (edited) 2w

JessClark78 I‘m only about a hundred pages in, but this is my third or fourth time reading The Stand. I‘m always amazed at how King can write so many characters in one book. 2w

kwmg40 I too am doing a reread, but I only got about a quarter of the way through before having to return it to the library. It's a gripping read but I had way too many books on the go already. I'll resume when I get the book again, and in the meantime, I'm really enjoying this more leisurely read, instead of the frantic page-turning experience last time, trying to find out what happens next. 2w

bekakins I didn‘t manage to do a reread but this is one of my favourite King novels - such great character development in this one! 2w
