3.75⭐️ I really liked the concept of the story, but I felt that it was written just a little too simplistic. I also really liked that she wrote a book based on an event that is rarely used as the basis for a book. #2025 #bookreview #wwi #halifaxexplosion #canadianfiction #historicalfiction

4⭐️ I had some issues with the book. While it was a really good book, I had some trouble finding out what this book wanted to be: is it supposed to be a #historicalfiction book or a #contemporaryfiction book? I liked the contemporary timeline over the historical timeline. There were some details that I missed or glossed over and will probably want to reread the book. #2025 #fiction #readalong

4.75⭐️ I really liked this book. The reason for the 1/4 drop is that I felt that the author spent a bit too much time in the book within a book and it could have been condensed down a bit and that Jess could have used her investigative reporting skills a little more than she did. That being said, I quite honestly liked how the book unfolded. I will say nothing more. #2025 #bookreview #bookclub #historicalfiction #fiction

4.75⭐️ I think I first heard about the book through either Sarah‘s Bookshelves Live or Currently Reading, but whichever podcast I heard about the book from, I knew that I would have never heard about it if not for them. I flew through the book and it took me less than 24 hours from starting it to finishing it. I really liked the way the author told the story. Probably one of my favourites for #2025. #bookreview #historicalfiction #fiction
