pickThis was a powerful story about staying true to yourself & finding friends who support you even when things get tough. It's very YA - I took a few week break after 75% because the angst was high lol. But overall it was a worthwhile read that really digs into the discrimination young queer people of color face among their peers & within their families. It definitely has a Breakfast Club vibe, with an unlikely group of students gathering together.
This slightly-magical graphic-novel love story set in a softball league is silly, smutty, and super gay. I love it.

pickMaddy Washington deserved so much better than the childhood she'd had. If I could write her a new story, I would. Even though I want to know more, the author's ending is perfect! Themes of racism, bullying, and police brutality. A skillful retelling of King's Carrie.

pickA YA Carrie retelling. It was a good read. Themes of racism, bullying, classism, and sexism. I did find the writing to be very YA. Everything was really spelled out for the reader, but I'm not the target audience so not a huge deal breaker.
