pickBooks based around the WWII era is my usual genre so I had no idea Danielle Steel ventured into this area. This was an enjoyable book that was easy to read but also made me emotional at times. This book was a pleasant surprise and I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes books based in the WWII era especially involving the French Resistance.
I've been almost completely MIA for weeks, but can now announce the results of a year's worth of work. I was on the Reading List committee, an ALA award to celebrate the best in genre fiction. How excited am I to announce the #litsyaward for #romance. LOTS. To me traditional romance novels are mass market paperbacks they sell at the grocery store next to the register, or the harlequin like subscription books my grams read. To me, none of the top 3 books in this category scream #traditional romance, but more #realromance. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Man Booker longlist was announced a few minutes ago. In a stunning turn of events I've read almost half the list. These are the print copies I own. Pleasantly surprised that Lincoln in the Bardo made it. Underwhelmed by Ministry of Utmost Happiness.

pickThe premise sounds interesting but I can't deal with the writing. In the first chapter alone, she starts 11 sentences with "And". It's supposed to be a bail not a pick but I can't edit it.
