Been having awful back pain for the past few days…Starting this audiobook because I need a read from my comfort author.
So ready to dive into this duology!
Been having awful back pain for the past few days…Starting this audiobook because I need a read from my comfort author.
So ready to dive into this duology!
Slowly plowing through this one. Can relate so much to this part!
I‘m so excited my library hold came in for this…Starting it immediately!
I‘ve been searching for this book for years and I know that we have found each other at the right time.
This was a roller-coaster of emotions! The story opens with our main character, Ella, being released from prison. What follows is her trying to find her footing in the outside world and flashbacks to what led to her incarceration.
We‘re also given POVs (past and present) from her Mom, Helen, and her ex-boyfriend, Jude.
I loved it. This is perfect for fans of second-chance stories and mother/daughter relationships.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Starting this…Somewhat intrigued, even though I read a similar story recently. But curious about this approach!
Starting this audiobook. I‘m so excited that Lauren Graham is the narrator. Love her!
It‘s a wrap on this trilogy! Loved it. I started this not expecting much, but this story took me by surprise and I became very invested.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What I enjoyed the most about this book is the 3 different POVs, even though sometimes it took a little bit of adjusting from one to the other (this happened mostly with Nick).
The story centers around a Chinese-American family and how trying to shape fate affected them. I loved it. I loved the dynamics and how the author developed the characters and presented the story.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Watching this because I‘m a sucker for punishment…(it‘s not going well) 🤣

Diving into Part 3!
First Rebecca Serle and I loved it! This was a very unique concept for a story and it was executed so well.
Loved that I did not see the twist in the story coming at all, and the ending was perfect.
Can‘t wait to read her backlist!

1. My birthday! My brothers have taken it upon themselves to make sure my birthday is very special every year (our Mom passed on my birthday 5 years ago). It‘s very touching since we have crazy schedules, families and live in different countries.
2. Tagged. This book sucked me in!
3. Need to start planning a move. Excited but overwhelmed!
I had requested an ARC of this a few months back and just received it last week while I was on vacation. I‘ve been anticipating reading this, and even though I‘m in the middle of too many books right now I just couldn‘t wait any longer 😅
1️⃣ Jaded by Ela Lee (tagged)
2️⃣ Alguien como yo (Someone like me) by Elisabet Benavent. I am looking forward to wrapping up this trilogy, even though I am loving the characters and don‘t want it to end!

New audiobook…I‘ve seen so many mixed reviews about this that I‘ve been looking forward to reading it to see how I feel about it.
Title translation: Someone Like You
The 2nd installment of this trilogy was so good! I am loving the audiobook narrators for these books.
Had to sign-up for an Audible free trial to get the third book, my library does not have it and I just have to know how this ends! 😅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.5⭐️ I liked this. The story felt very raw from the get-go, but then it started to lose me towards the end.
I recognize what the author was trying to do, and I know that she was looking to convey Catalina‘s roller-coaster of emotions for what she was going through, and even though I never lost interest in the story, it didn‘t live up to the hype for me.

Tried reading in the past couple of days but was distracted by this view…
(Cabarete Beach, Dominican Republic)
It pains me to bail on this because I started really liking it, but at about 50% on it just felt that I was reading about other people‘s lives and not hers.
1. City. I have the added perk that I live on an island (Dominican Republic), and I have the ocean across the street!
2. Madrid!

I finished this audiobook so fast! Very informative. I have a friend who is very deep into this culture and I recognized a lot of the traits she‘s displaying in the ones mentioned in this book. 😕
The length of the book was also perfect, and you didn‘t get over-dumped with a lot of stats and facts all at once.
Needed another audiobook to break up the ??? from “Alguien como tú” ?
This is fascinating! I‘ve watched many MLM docs and exposés, and I‘m loving the more in-depth backstories in this book.
Not even done with chapter 1 and this is already messy…and I‘m here for it! 😅
This was so good! I was not expecting the twists the story took.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Read Part 1 of this and enjoying it…Even though I feel that this book it‘s going to break my heart…
Title translation: Someone like you.
Benavent‘s choice for the weekend: Book 2 of the “Mi elección” (My choice) trilogy.
I couldn‘t wait to get to this one, book 1‘s ending was ??♀️?
Time to read some Ernaux… Been trying to read one of her books every couple of months.
Also, just realized that it will be the first time I read an English translation of her books…Always picked up the Spanish translation before.
10 min update: Searched my Kindle and I do have it in Spanish❤️😅🙌🏽
She has done it again! I loved this book so much, a tough read at times but so well done. What a great way to wrap-up this duology.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I admit I grabbed this because of the cover. And because the 5th anniversary of my Mom‘s passing is fast-approaching and I felt drawn to see how someone else dealt with their grief.
What I found inside were simple poems, but some of them felt like the warmest hug and words on paper of how I feel about life at this moment.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful debut! The story centers around Layla, who is engaged to Andy. Something unique about them is that they both have the same last name. Layla‘s BFF, Sera, watches a documentary which suggests that Andy‘s family enslaved Layla‘s.
This story is very unique and it brought up a roller-coaster of emotions.
If going into a deep-dive about family histories while dealing with the consequences in the present day is your thing, read this!

1. To stop overthinking everything.
2. Allowing other people‘s bad vibes affect me!
3. My daughter. Watching the strong and sweet teenager that she is reminds me every day that I‘m doing it right.
My deep dive into Benavent‘s backlist continues…
I really didn‘t think that this second book was necessary, but I‘m enjoying it so much!
This was very touching. The audiobook narration by the author made it even more special.
I was having a not so great day and then I received this unrequested ARC… 😭😭
I‘m so excited to read this!
I‘m sad to say I just couldn‘t connect with this book at all. I was bored and kept trying to push through but gave up at 35%.
I‘d never read this author before but I‘m loving the writing just going by the first story alone 😊 (even though the subject matter was not pleasant)
#motivationalmonday
1. Work and getting ready for my family visiting from the US next week to celebrate my birthday! 🥳
2. Garden
3. Santo Domingo, DR 🇩🇴, 77F and cloudy
The premise of this book is so interesting that I stopped listening to the audiobook and continued on Kindle so I wouldn‘t miss any details.
This was very entertaining, possibly the spiciest book I‘ve read from the author so far, and the end, which was kind of predictable (Alba starts a sexual relationship with Hugo and Nico…who are best friends, roommates and business partners…and the 3 are coworkers…what could possibly go wrong?), still makes me curious enough to grab the second installment.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I started reading this book and being very judgemental. Yes, the author can be very annoying and exhausting, and I felt that at the beginning she was just trying to please her husband and the partners she encountered along the way.
But I‘m glad I read it. It gave me a new perspective about an alternative lifestyle, how messy it can get, and how communication and both main partners not forgetting that their family comes first can make this work.
I was not expecting to like this so much. I loved Allegra and her co-workers (Tripp was my favorite!).
I especially loved that Allegra kept a positive attitude throughout the book no matter what was being thrown at her.
I recommend this book for someone who is looking for an easy read that is also sprinkled with some wise life lessons.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story centers around the Bae-Wood women and how loss and family secrets can bring the right people into your life in unexpected ways.
This is a modern spin on Sense and Sensibility and I feel it was done beautifully. There are a lot of spins in the story that I was not expecting.
The friendships that formed throughout the story were so heartwarming and ones that I will always remember.
