“Richard Turere tells the story of how he invented a system of lights to protect livestock from predators, now used in many places around the world.“ Check out the full review for this biographical picturebook of a Maassai inventor: https://wowlit.org/on-line-publications/review/xvii-2/6/
I actually got to see David Sedaris speak last week (2nd row!!) and he was amazing. I had no idea he had a children‘s book out… so I grabbed it from the library, wondering what kind of children‘s story would he write? Well, let‘s say it‘s for a very specific audience as it‘s a fine line between scary and funny. I found it funny, but would hesitate to broadly recommend to children. And Ian Falconer was an amazing artist.
A delightful 1973 children's book, lushly illustrated with clever nods to 19th and 20th-century art. I found this second-hand book, translated from German into French, by chance - I hadn't heard of the authors beforehand. Very happy about it!
4 ⭐ Kids who really like non-fiction are going to love this book. This book is about the history of the lakes where they came from the and the life that they have sustained since then.
3 ⭐When you have a kid that won‘t go to sleep, and you tell him to count sheep this is the book you get. Our little person is determined not to go to sleep, and their mom says count the sheep. When they get to 68 the sheep does not want to be counted. And the kid gets to experience what mom experiences when it‘s time to go to bed. This book was fine.
