And my #doublespin is complete! This was just meh, unfortunately. The story within a story was a little too jarring and I couldn‘t quite hang in there with the editor‘s storyline. It just didn‘t keep my attention the way a whodunit should. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Also a #litsyaward winner for #summerfun

Grow Up: A Novel | Ben Brooks

And I got the #GrowUp list done as well. I picked Red White and Royal Blue as my #LitsyAward winner to finish me up. I see why so many people loved that book.

I now have just 2 books and 8 hours to finish the #BBRC for 19/20. thank goodness they are easy readers. I even have them at home, I just forget to do them. Soon thought, the clock is ticking.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick If I get to it, RW&RB is my choice for the summer fun Litsy Award Winner square. Also, I'm going to have to research the books chosen for Freezer Book. I feel like Little Women is the only choice after watching Friends. 🤣 4y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Little Women was a favorite as a kid so I recently reread it. The old fashioned gender roles and such were rough to read, but there were aspects I enjoyed. 4y

ljuliel @SaturnDoo That‘s ok. 🙂 We don‘t all like the same books. If we did, it‘d be a boring world. I bought this in audio when it first came out, so I guess one of these days I‘ll give it a listen to see what I think. 5y

ljuliel I sorta thought by the sounds of how it was written that the print wouldn‘t do it justice. It sounds like it should be done in audio, like live interviews ? I‘m not sure. We shall see one of these days. I like audiobooks with multiple narrators. @saturndoo (edited) 5y

So anyone who has known me for a while knows i started the #LitsyAwards because the GoodReads awards PISS ME OFF! This is the perfect reason why!!. This tagged book came out TODAY!! How has anyone had a chance to read it to fully vote!!! This system is rigged. It's amazon playing to their data on sales, not on actual reads. And publishers hyping things!!! UGGGHHHHH

KT1432 Hahaha yup I saw the list last night and just rolled my eyes at some of the newest releases. There are some great books in the line up but many should be considered for NEXT year! I don't like it being tied to Amazon. It's definitely more of a popularity/marketing hype contest than being based on what's actually been read. 5y

LibrarianRyan @Scochrane26 Starting Dec 1 one you can. I have just found if I draw things out too long, then we don't have as much feed back. So December is for nominations. And then January is for multiple rounds of voting.

SaturnDoo I'm not crazy about any of the book rewards/lists. It seems they are all based on popularity and hype. I like to use them mainly to find new authors or books I might not of heard of otherwise. I'm interested in seeing how the Litsy Awards works. Thanks for sharing 😊 5y

LibrarianRyan @SaturnDoo it‘s quite simple. I‘ll put out the nomination form Dec 1. Anyone can nominate any book that was released in 2019. There are 21 categories. Starting Jan one over 3 weeks you and other littens will help narrow them down. 5y

People who are just in for the numbers can rack up the first 80k quickly by following and being followed. But after that. That counter doesn‘t not move fast at all I‘m. It in for the numbers. Never really look, but you will see people post when they hit a milestone. 6y

LibrarianRyan @ReadingDownUnder I have 2 apps I use. Canva is what I did this in. I like the desk top version better than the app but the app isn‘t bad. The #litsyaward posts are done in an app called pic collage. It‘s really more for layering pictures but people to a pretty good job adding words in that too (not me). 6y

And as I got older and based on where I live the odd were that my future guy would already have kids so it didn‘t matter. Then I got with josh and no one says a word. They probably don‘t want us to procreate. 6y

I hear “you better give that man some kids!” Well my husband doesn‘t want kids either so why would I give him something he doesn‘t want? 🙄 and I also hear” but you guys would have such cute kids!” So we should have kids despite not wanting them because they would be cute? Honestly, I think it is rude as hell when people even ask because they don‘t know the reason isn‘t a medical issue. I have started being vague and saying “not sure it‘s in the card for us”. That seems to shut them up quick! It is nobody‘s business. 6y

TheBookHippie @JoScho people tell me I should have more kids or why didn't you...I tell them the truth I have hundreds they all reside right here in my heart. If they press I do the truth 10 pregnancies two live kiddos almost 18 years apart I had my son instead of menopause they ripped out my uterus to save my life. Conversation ender 🤷🏽‍♀️😳🙌🏻 sometimes people are idiots 🤦🏽‍♀️ 6y

JoScho @TheBookHippie yeah they are. I teach 900 kids a week and I love them but I just don‘t feel need to have my own. Seriously people do need to worry about themselves but I am sure telling them the truth does end the conversation. 6y
